  • little girl:mom what that noise?

mom: that is the sound of two transformers having sex and giving birth to dubstep

    little girl: what sex?

    mom: not till your 40

  • imagine if someone got high off this sound

  • @iAppleKing100

    What?

  • By decoding this I was able to read out your dialup username and password... no, not really.

  • This meant one thing when I was 12... Porn

  • The number you dialed... was it 1 570 234 0003?

  • this will make a good ringtone

  • I can still remember dreading that noise alerting my parents that I was about to look for some porn at 3am.

  • So what do all the different sounds mean?

  • @SnugglePuma It's the sound of your PC dialing a phone number then I think all the weird sounds are it connecting to the telephone signal.

  • @Madt001 well i knew that much...

  • Oo, I miss this sound! Memories <3

  • Why the hell do modems need to make this sound to dial up anyway? Such a strange noise...

  • @alecp66 It's called a handshake. It is the audio representation of the modem communicating with the ISP. I don't know why they thought we needed to hear the sound though

  • watching this with a headset sound maxxed, is a real bad idea... my poor ears are angry after me :S

  • Sounds like that trash dubstep

  • @Boxman444 You obviously haven't been on the internet for a long time so I think it's time for you to get off.

  • I wish I still could listen to this noise when I used the internet, back when I was a kid this sound would bring so much joy when I started up my steam driven PC :')

  • If you don't understand what's going on here, you're too young! go drink a juice box or something.

  • i remember waving dial up like 14 years ago

  • Gosh that was a long time ago

  • How much you wanna bet that this is exactly what inspired dubstep, lol

  • Man! This is such good dub step! Wait for the sick drop at 0:21! So dirty!

  • Beats dubstep any day.

  • Back in my day

  • LOVE IT

  • Why am I watching this?

  • @TheMcgreary Memories that's why. Gosh...I still hear this in my head when computers crash.

  • Who remembers forum threads with "(56K Warning!)" in the title?

  • When I was a little kid this noise terrified me.

  • I like the part that goes KKKKKKKRRHAHKFKK PINGOOPINGOO AKRKALAKKKHHAHHHRKRKAHHARAHRAHSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSH.

  • @Sykadelia

    the best part is PingooPingoo

  • omg and i t goes for like 50,0000000000million hrs right?!?

  • To get the full effect watch in 240p. :D

  • Ahh.. I remembered the time when I was young. I cannot go online without being discovered thank to this baby!

  • The kids these days will never understand the oldened days of the Internet, and Im only 17! I remember when I was 3-4 yrs old my father would go to Netscape browser and the Dial-up tone would pop up and flicker with noise...just hearing it made me feel 10 years younger. Memories, sweet memories.

  • Like for watching this vid. on your 56K modem? :D

  • @cdoamh Yes i can watch videos on a modem.

  • This sound properly takes me back to my childhood :)

  • @damidget98 what number would you acttualy dial?

  • Cool thing it sound exactly the same everywhere on the planet... I thought its different from place to place...

  • lol why is this in HD?

  • we're entering the matrix

  • @hybridx01 This is what they had to do every time they get into those chairs before they got broadband.

  • You got to love that sound lol

  • Why does it make that noise ?

  • @pat20105 That 'noise' is binary data, it's the two modems talking to each other doing an initial 'handshake' and verifying what's the fastest communication speed and compression each other supports.

  • I think I have a boner here

  • They should replace that annoying emergency alert BEEEEEP with this sound. If that doesnt get your attention you must be dead.

  • back in the days this was the most annoying sound ever, i tried so hard to hide it from my parents during the morning hours when I sneaked up to browse the 5 webpages of the internet. Now i get happy when i hear it, my kids will never hear it live. Oh god I'm such a relic.

  • I remember trying to make the sound along with the computer X)

  • Why that strange sound?

  • @ChaffyCougar The sweet, sweet music of data.

  • @ChaffyCougar that sound is from the mid 90's to (earliest)2000's when the internet was provided by phone (directly, you could even hear the data by picking the headset) and no ADSL service were available or if were available was too expensive to pay, in those days the internet was very slow and services like FB, TW of even YT only were part of the most geeky-nerdy-genious imagination...

  • @ChaffyCougar That's how binary data sounds.

  • 0:14 Drop Tha BASS!!!

  • I can still remember watching the MSN butterfly slowly flapping its wings to this music...so much of my childhood...

  • The sound my brain makes while i'm cleaning and doing long division

  • ههههههههههههههههههههه ذكريات

  • th sound my brain makkes while doing algaebra

  • whats with the noise at 0:21 I don't remember that hyperspeed acceleration noise on my 14.4k's lol.. all the dialup sound videos I find have that last note on em.. :09 - :16 is what I remember, and I'm 30.. lol

  • @chronikss nither happened in my 56k v92, winmodem. remember that this sound if a handshaking and syncing protocol, so that part may be some option in the protocol being probed, that is not widely used arround the world.

If you see dial up modems sounds around the world they have a few minimal diferences.

  • oh man makes me think of the past, favorite bizarre sound EVER!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm pretty sure someone farts between 0:16 and 0:17.

  • HD record !

  • lol !

  • I still use it at home.. :O

  • Someone should make a joke addon for Chrome or Firefox where it plays this sound every time you open the browser

  • I am going to force my children to listen to this every time they want to use the internet.

  • @ChewieV2

    Also, nos-fucking-talgia.

  • if that calms you down, .. you are addicted XD

  • LOL i remember hearing this noise whenever i conncted to the internet when i was like 6 or 7 and actually thinking it was normal xD

  • jajaja que bien...very good

  • Every time someone asks me if I listen to Justin Bieber, the Dial-Up noise is all I here.

  • I remember when I was a little kid I was horribly terrified of this sound XP my dad always told me that every time that sound played, it was the soviets trying to target us with a nuclear rocket.

yeah, he's weird. but it was fun!

  • that 14.4 connection 28-56k sounds different

  • and the mysterious Flux Pavilion was formed. No one knows how it was made, but its purpose is clear. it is apparent that the Flux Pavilion is here to ORGASM OUR EARS OFF

  • lol this is the sound they used in Transformers to disable the government
