Badlands played spotty shows because their singer was sick after late 1990. He had HIV and died from aids. So these shows where he can't hit notes, he's sick. And I always hated the fact that their club sets were often 50-55 minutes long. Just terrible. And it was Ray Gillen that did this to them I believe. They had room to grow into a post metal something. It's a shame. Soul Stealer off Voodoo Highway is as good as High Wire.

I think that it was jake who wanted out of Ozzy's gig as he was more into doing blues based stuff but thats just what I heard from a guitar technician who once worked for Zakk. Too bad about Ray Giilan, as he was a most soulful vocalist and had great shows night after night. I was lucky enough to be teching a gig for a Canadian band who opend for Badlands in 1989 and watching Badlands was a treat for sure. Plus, they were all super classy guys who really only wanted to play music.

Ozzy said in an interveiw that him and Jake were like fire and ice, constantly argued and both did not enjoy working together. He did say that Jake was extremely focused with a hardcore work ethic and wasn't into the party mentality like Ozzy. Jake hated working with a high/drunken Oz so he bailed.

he plays a total different style here than he played with ozzy. he plays more the dirty rock blues style with badlands, the soloing sounds a bit like hendrix. very classic blues hard rock guitar. he used to play before that very progressive metal guitar, with complex scale sequences etc..
