Dead or Alive Ultimate (An old Xbox game, it's compatible.) includes a revised version of DOA2 and the SNES version of DOA1 with minor improvements.

Thing is, I think it would've been better if they just waited for the Xbox 360 to come out. Yes it is compatible, but the game itself isn't being sold anymore. The best way to make this unique is including Ayane and Bass.

Here are some good facts for you:

BEST GRAPHICS version in order: Model 2, Sega Saturn & Playstation subjected to opinion (if you want something more true to the arcade then the Sega Saturn version is best. If you like the lightning gloss look then the Playstation version is better).

BEST GAMEPLAY in order: Sega Saturn, Playstation, Model 2 (the Sega Saturn version was incredible! It's practically the true completed game).

I love DOA1. A game that had so much potential. Yes, "had".

I haven't forgotten DOA 1 Ultimate. It is true - DOA 1 for the SEGA SATURN was definitely the completed version of the game. Though it's true that the PSX version had Ayane and Bass but the SEGA SATURN version made everything flow better and true to the original intended experience. If the Model 2 version had the Sega Saturn's gameplay then the game would have been "beyond" in appeal!

It's a massive shame that Tecmo completely missed what made DOA really appealing in the first place.

Dead or Alive is a button masher. Virtua Fighter is NOT.

Have to disagree. Virtua Fighter is an authentic, real life martial arts fighter. Only those who are no good at the game will think otherwise.

It is most definitely not a button masher. With Virua Fighter you tap buttons slowly and input commands. It's not the kind of game you can easily pick up and play. It require practice. That's why so many people turn their heads at the game.

Even Itagaki himself said that DOA was inspired by Virtua Fighter.

VF can be pretty stiff in all other areas other than the actual fighting moves. And to be honest I did find VF easy to pick up and play, but that's ONLY because of my experience with DOA. ;)

Back to this, Both are authentic real-life martial arts games, if you took out the whole sex appeal of DOA.

Virtua Fighter isn't even close to button masher. It takes practice. You have to make great strategies, and just doing one punch throughout doesn't count. This game is for technical fighters.

DOA can be a button masher depending on the difficulty, and this can even take practice as well, but in DOA4's case, a lot of practice for story and arcade mode.

Virtua Fighter is MASSIVE in Japan and is even growing in sales in the U.S, and has outsold DOA by thousands of copies. So either you making it up, or you have bad sources.

In fact, Virtua Figher 5 has been doing so incredibly well that they even released an updated version called Virtua Fighter 5 R.
