Wow, how delightful - you sound wonderful together, and love the instruments you used, Anette & Ron! I hadn't heard this song before - beautiful, beautiful harmonies!!! I heard Mabel at the end lol. Very well done, my friends - I enjoyed it so much. 8o)
@karlmahlmann Hallo Karl, sorry that I did not answer to your comment. I just forgot... I did not know this song before. Ron said we could try it and I am glad he did.
This is one of my favorite tunes. Great collab. I always enjoy listening to you both! It always amazes me to see the different instruments you both play! And one of those instruments must have the voice of a cat??? :D Thanks to you both for your support of my music!
@BluegrassForte Hi Lindsey, so great to hear from you!Thank you very much for listenening and for your kind comment, also in Ron´s name! My first autoharp I saw in the movie about Jonny Cash´s life. His wife played it, and I thought to myselfe: Oh I want one too :-) And Rons big mandoline fits very good to it. And yes, you heard right: I have a cat organ too =^..^=
I have never heard this song before. What a great tune for a collaboration. You both sound excellent in your separate parts and together. An 1854 folk song...who would have thunk it. Great job Ron and Anette.
@PatrickGMoran Hi PatrickGMoran, thank you very much for your friendly comment. Yes it is a great tune. I am glad that Ron had the ide to sing it, so I learned it too. Nice greetings, also in Rons name, -

@onewomanandsomesongs Hi Janat, this collab was a something special, because it brought me closer again to American folk music. Thank you very much for your great comment, also in Rons name.
@MartinRaetzJr Thank you again Martin :-) Yes the chord changes of the song are just beautiful. The autoharp fits perfectly to it. It was Rons idea to sing this song to my new instrument. But we must sing it in C Major, because I don´t have stripes for all harmonies. I will look where I can buy more chord stripes.
Yes Mabel is a talented singer too, but he was too shy to appear in the vid.
@Sanctuary1952 Hallo, thank you very much for your great comment. It is sad that the younger generation does not sing old songs anymore. We have the same problem in Germany too.
I didn't know Stephen Foster wrote this terrific song , thought it was a traditional. Beautiful. Love that minor change at 3:41 in particular, it's a nice moment. Great work you twobe. I know Ron has been wanting to record this song for ages so it is nice to hear it finally realised here in such a fine way Anette. Pete
@CurtisMateer Hallo Pete, Ron was waiting to record this song for ages? I did not know this. He only said to me: Anette, you have an autoharp now, what about this song? Thank you very much for listening and your kind comment.
Absolutely lovely cover of this song Ron and Anette. The instruments and your heartfelt voices blended beautifully together, with each note and tone from both finding their own place in the wonderful landscape of music. Thank you Ron and Anette for the beautiful cover of this song which I will listen to many times over, and thank you both for inspiring me to return to my more folkish roots of writing and playing. Wishing you both all the best on this lovely journey. Mark
@Maysey1 Thank you Mark so much for your good words. I am so glad that Ron shares my love and interest in folkmusic. So we had the same feel to sing that beautiful song.
By the way: The autoharp I found on a fleamarket ;-)
This is a wonderful collaboration. Thank you Ron and Anette. Anette, though not seen in the video, your recorder also adds a special sound to this song.
@1catbob Hi Bob, thank you very much :-) It was a great thing to do this collab together with Ron. Yes, recorder is a great instrument, often underrated.
Oh how beautiful... and Yes, I heard Mabel's little "meow" at the close.. :))
I liked this... very thoughtful... and strong... Ron, Anette, beautiful job. Anette, I liked how focused you had to be on the different, precise, chords on the autoharp.. Peace to both of you... God Bless... g'night. ♫ ~Sharon

@Peregrin27 Ja Ben, und es ist wieder mal deine Schuld gewesen :-) Genau wie bei der Dulcimer. Zuerst gesehen habe ich diese Instrumente bei dir, und dann habe ich mich sachkundig gemacht.
