I've always been outside the USA, I'm in Finland. Poverty is relative to where you live, there are poor in the USA even if they don't die in hunger.
People on foodstamps are poor! They are nowhere near being consumers. At the same time there are people in your country that own as much as a million poorer Americans! Top 1% owns about 90% of the nation's wealth! Yeah you may find different numbers, but the fact remains the wealth is accumulated into the hands of few.

I have seen places such as North and West philly and they are heaven compared to most places on Earth. I don't know if his motive is intentionally misleading or if he is just delusional, but in this particular case about OWS, I would agree that a good portion of the protesters have socialistic ideas, and seem to be willing to trade liberty for jobs & healthcare.
