Just downloaded this yesterday. It's not perfect, but not terrible either. Advanced users will want something more. Also, "barely any lag" doesn't mean any lag at all. There is definitely lag at times and the program seems to slow down after a few minutes of use. This software is okay for the occasional or non-serious user, but don't expect professional output.

@DemePoole Also, depending on which encoder you use, it will have to download the file, so you need Internet access. If you plan on editing the video with a different program, then use the MPEG-2 encoder so the video will not be compressed. AVI is a compression technology, but still gives great quality depending on the encoder settings.

@DemePoole Encoding to MPEG-2 will also save time if you plan on burning to DVD, because MPEG-2 is the current DVD standard. If you save to any other format (avi, wmv, etc) then you will have to transcode the video to MPEG-2 if you want to make a DVD disc. Of course some DVD players will play video without the disc being standard DVD, but it depends on the player and it depends on your knowledge of video encoding.

@DemePoole For encoding I recommend TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works (formerly known as TMPGEnc Xpress) and TMPGEnc Authoring Works for easy DVD authoring. I've been using these products for years and the have never failed me.

I was using the AMcap software that came with my decent webcam and was sorely disappointed. Not sure how people can expect HD quality from webcams, you need an HDvidcam and a professional computer worth several thousand pounds (sterling) to get seamless HD quality.

Debut doesn't detect my camera, which is the only thing plugged into my USB 2.0 port besides my Headset/Mic. I'm using a Tritton Headset with a generic Basic Webcam I've had for awhile. Youtube detects the camera fine but does not record any sound from my headset, which I know it should since Audacity records sound fine. I'd like to find a program that actually works, and is free, to record cover songs and put those on youtube, since I have a really good voice.
