  • yeaaaaaah.

  • 1 person got lost in the depth of the groove

  • Best drummer on the planet.

  • wonderfull hi-hat feel. I like the 1:25

  • matt chamberlain's pocket is amazing.

    that studio's not bad either...

  • Im lost. Is Matt Chamberlain a studio drummer? Who has be played with? What band lists him as their drummer?

  • He did the drums for Morrissey's album RINGLEADER OF THE TORMENMTORS

  • the wallflowers, fiona apple, tori amos, brandi carlile, sara bareilles, sara evans, keith urban, anna nalick...to name a few--basically, anyone that simply needs a solid groove with some real character and not just a bunch of BS added to a drum beat instead.

  • @BIGnCHOCOLATE Matt did most of the drumming on my all-time favorite album... John Mayer's sophomore album, "Heavier Things."

  • wat song is this and who is the artist

  • Big Drop - George Stanford

  • Matt Chamberlain is one of the best groove drummers ever. FOR REAL

  • Matt sounds incredible!

  • Wasn't Matt Chamberlain doing the ADP World tour with Tori Amos in the summer of '07? He is a busy man.

  • this is one of my all time favorite songs.

it was great to hear you live!

  • i agree great song! but, it's not too hard to own the pocket when you're following a click!!

  • Yes it is.

  • @40fordcoop Meter and pocket aren't the same thing. A click gives you a reference for the meter b/c no human has perfect meter. I'd suggest making sure you know what you're talking about before making a comment. Everything about Matt's playing is amazing. I know guys who have worked with him that back up my assertions. He is by far my personal favorite drummer to have ever picked up a pair of sticks.

  • Matt needs a RimRiser!! sound though..

  • just wanting to show some support for george and the rest of band. great song. great music.

    jdm

  • just awesome

  • Amazing session drummer!

  • @canguruz I totally agree. His playing, even after a few years of playing, was faultless. He started late too, he was maybe 17 or more.

  • love the recording session. we really enjoyed your shows in a'ton and c'ville this week. gimme some downriver!

  • Hi George, great song! I just saw you at the Charlottesville, VA show (with Eddie from Ohio) and spoke with you for a minute after the show. I really enjoyed your music! I listened to your new EP several times on the way home from the show! Best of luck in your career!

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • I keep forgetting to get a towel before watching Matt play. He is without a doubt my favorite drummer. That lick going into the first chorus is classic Matt. He owns the pocket, everyone else just rents it from him.

    I dig the song too.

  • I guess your favorite Pearl Jam video is 'Alive'? Since you're a fan of Matt C, is there anything on YouTube that has Matt in the Saturday Night Live band from the 1991 season? I'd love to hear him in the SNL band.

  • Man I wish! Except for my Tori Amos "Welcome to Sunny Florida" DVD my awesome brother bought me a couple years ago, I don't have anything. I hope to change that soon. All I have are various CD's he's played on. If you have any videos, please share! :)

  • You can just look up the Pearl Jam Alive video here on YouTube (that's my favorite Matt Chamberlain live performance). I have never seen anything of him from SNL. I do have a rare live CD of him in PearlJam from 1991.

  • are we confusing matt chamberlain and matt cameron? Matt Cameron is the guy from soundgarden who's played with pearl jam for a while. Matt Chamberlain is a different dude. He's freaking bad-ass. Cameron is great too.

  • Nope. I don't know if Matt Chamberlain was ever an official member of Pearl Jam, but he had a 3 week stint with them in '91; after Dave Krusen and before Dave Abbruzzese. Chamberlain is playing the drums in the 'Alive' video; and it's actually him playing in that live version of the song. He did a much better job than Krusen, IMO. And of course, you can also see Chamberlain in Edi Brickell And The New Bohemians 'What I Am'.

  • And yes, Cameron is great, but not with Pearl Jam. He was awesome in Temple Of The Dog and Soundgarden. He's still with Pearl Jam.

  • I completely agree. Cameron is one of my favorite drummers with Soundgarden and TOTD, but way too stiff and "hard rock" sounding with Pearl Jam. All of the cool subtlety in Dave Krusin/Abbruzzese and Jack Irons is out the window with Matt Cameron...he just pounds through the songs at blazing tempos. Oh well.
