@skaterciaran u go into the dungeon after u beat skeletron and kill stuff and break pots ive noticed that the dungeon slimes pretty much always drop them but they are rare so breaking pots and killing stuff

HERO, there is more than 1 shadow key, They are in vases ( Rarely ) in dungeans, a mad bones or whatever they are called droopped 2 at different time tho. and i found one in a chest. :) There is for sure more than 1, but with all the updates, there will most likely to be on 1 somday to make the game harder. :)
