Love Is A Long Road - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers [Gainesville, Florida] - 1989 - "Sort of a stripped-down version of the Who's 'Won't Get Fooled Again' or 'Baba O'Reily,' 'Love Is a Long Road' is one of the more powerful rockers on the Tom Petty solo debut, Full Moon Fever." - Anthology Through The Years [Original Recording Remastered] (MCA) [Disc 2]-2000.
The key about Tom Petty is his attitude on stage. He always looks just like he's having the time of his life. He simply LOVES what he does. And that makes him the luckiest guy on earth. Follow your dreams!
Does anybody know where this video is from or if there is a dvd available from it? cuz it is fantastic!!! The song selection is great and the sound quality and mix levels are just delicious
Love this song, love Tom petty... How can you even have. a fav album I love all of his. stuff even. when he. was in the traveling wilburys and in mudcrutch....... Classic
I agree, Full Moon Fever is great. But my favorite album that Tom Petty has ever done is Wildflowers. I'm going to see him in September and it will be my third time and my mom's ninth. The funny thing is, I'm only thirteen!
@evanbaseball7 I was 13 when his big breakthrough album Damn The Torpedoes came out. I bought Wildflowers too. The new album MOJO will have good live jamming songs. You & your mom have good taste. In August it will only be the 2nd time I've seen him & I'm in my 40s! Good for you - get him while you can!
Going to see the concert in July!!!! SO FUCKING EXCITED. I love Tom Petty, straight up musical idol. Everybody should love this guy. And this song! Oh, this song! I lost my old Full Moon Fever album. I used to play it so much with my dad in the car.
I remember trips down to Arlington Heights from Palatine, going to restaurants, in the front seat - at age eight, that was a kingly privilege - just blasting this song, or Runnin' Down a Dream, or Free Fallin'. Four years ago seems like yesterday.
i'd forgotten how good Mr. Petty and company are live. My friends and I saw him maybe 25 times and they were always great in concert. Thanks for the memories!
This is the song that was playing on the radio Twenty years ago today.September 18,1989,when I picked up the phone.Fred took me to see Del Shannon at the Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. This was one of his boys.~L.A.M.F.
this is my favourite of all tom petty songs it gives me chills every time i hear it . i feel the music like all good music. he is the most underrated song writer and doesnt get the respect he deserves . hes a great song writer and has written many songs i adore. :) peace hippi
The whole "Full Moon Fever" is an excellent album for driving ... or just about anything. Nearly every song on the album is good. This one of my favourites along with "Zombie Zoo".
@adamcrookedsmile : Your're damned right, one of the greatest works in history of music. Zombie Zoo is great, but also like "Apartment Song", another one living in the shadow witout reason, isn't it ?
This is probably my favorite Tom Petty Song. You can tell it was written in '89 by the Bon Jovi style keyboard build up to leading into a crescendo of face melting guitar. Fuck yeah, Petty rules.
