not sure why these trainspotters are complaining about the service maybe they left there flask at home or something its funny how the customers play up to the camera there be crying in their soup now that the slammers have gone nse ohh the good old days lol
all i know is slam doors were shagged. and there was poor investment on NSE as you will see here where the signalbox is falling apart. Basically, connex got hit with financial troubles, and were sacked because they asked for money
LOL at 0:54 this guy is one of the few people at BR who actually knew the whole operation was down the sh*tter. All it needed was cash, something Mr Greyface and his bunch of cronies wouldn't give them.
Yep, and now the taxpayer is putting loads of money into a privitised system - in essence subsidising shareholders dividends rather than improving the railways.
BR ran with about £1.4bn worth of subsidy the current TOCs soak up £6.5bn
The Tories and Labour claim that privitisation is better and offers 'value for the taxpayer?????'
I taped "The wrong Track" off the Telly :) I got quite a few documentaries about railways that I had taped off the TV back in the day, so as soon as I know how, i will try to upload it all for people to see!
see 9:30 the nse trains still lives

Profits before the service . Assett stripping. I worked for BR 80 to 86. Makes me sad to watch this.

I still think that the EPBS were the best, in saying that though the 465's are good as well. Living in Slade Green I would say that though. lol

Do they still have those massive security gates on the end of platforms today, or were they just there to stop rioting NSE passengers!
"Whenever a train meets an MP coming down the line, an almighty derailment is inevitable." (sorry can't remember who said that, but its not my own)
At the time and today, privatisation was the only way forward

Thank God we got rid of NSE! Bring back good old Connex south Eastern
You know how much I like you chris, but I cant say I would take NSE back lol
465fan 2 years ago
Errrr - excuse me!!! Connex SE had 1 in 4 trains running late!
I have commuted into London under both NSE and Connex and I can assure you NSE was better. NSE is still better than the current 'southeastern'

NSE were dreadful
AND THEY USED SHAGGED OUT TRAINS
At least connex went to 375s
Good move.
465fan 2 years ago
Well with a user name like yours you should like NSE, after all they intoduced (and paid for) the 465s.
If NSE had the government support that connex got they'd have been much better.
Connex were so good they had their franchise stripped!!! That says alot about them and as I said - I used both so I can make that judgement.
32678knowle 2 years ago
and you think i didnt get to sample both?
all i know is slam doors were shagged. and there was poor investment on NSE as you will see here where the signalbox is falling apart. Basically, connex got hit with financial troubles, and were sacked because they asked for money

they lost the franchise because they were incompetant!
The slam doors were old, but it all goes back to the question of goverment support.
NSE recieved very little subsidy from the goverment, Connex recieved alot.
Including a one off payment of £58m, they didn't improve and had the cheek to ask for more money.
I thought the whole idea of privitisation was that companies like connex didn't need government money because they were so brilliant?!!
32678knowle 2 years ago
whatever privitisation brings, i must say, i still find connex to have been a step up from nse
