Yeah.....you may have heard the story about how when Fonda arrived to begin filming he brought some brown contacts with him to flesh out his character....Sergio Leone flipped as he wanted to see those blue eyes on his killer.

Btw, I take it that you're a Dire Straights fan, yes? Well, I was listing to Mark Germain, occasional host of RedEye radio, and I heard him state that he felt the greatest guitarist of all time (I forget the name) played in Dire Straights, even better than Hendrix.

I'll have to Google the band later and look into it.:-)

Oh yeah, huge Dire Straits fan! He was referring to Mark Knopfler, lead guitarist and vocalist for the band..and yeah, i also think he's one of the greatest guitarists of all time and personally prefer him over Hendrix (although many would not), placed just under David Gilmour as my all time favorite guitarist. He has a one of a kind style....he definitely makes it cry or sing! LOL!

He he's made some wonderful solo albums, worth checking out if you like his style. Thanks!

I saw this movie when it first came out . It was also the first time I tried hash. Great experience. Henry Fonda playing a bad guy was also unique. This song, as great as it is, didn't exist when the movie came out. Dire Straights would have been about 12 years old at the time. Great post, thank you.

Nice way to see the movie! LOL! It is absolutely the greatest western ever created to date....remains at #20 in IMDB's Top 250 of all time...not a small feat AND ALSO the only film in the top 20 to have gotten there with less than 100,000 votes.....and that is an even more incredible accomplishment.

Yes, the movie was released in '68 and the song about 10 years later....but the song was obviously heavily influenced by the film.

Since OUATITW is one of my absolute favorite films of all time, I've seen it many times and continue to watch it once or twice a year. I was blown away by how awesome this film looked on the new Blu-Ray release.....the picture and sound quality are incredible.....the studio really put the effort into this release.

Definitely watch it again if it's been so long.....you'll probably find that the film is even better than you remember....watch it on Blu-Ray.

It's such an extraordinary film, isn't it? I see it continues to rise in IMDB ratings and is now in the Top 20 of All Time (#20). Of course, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is at #4.....and as much as I love that film......if I had to choose, I would say that Once Upon A Time In The West is the better film. It definitely belongs in the Top 10 of All Time....and I'll get there eventually!

Oh man.....is this the greatest western of all-time OR WHAT?! I picked up the new Blu-ray release a few weeks ago and it is so freaking awesome....now that you made me think about, think I'll pop it in again this afternoon! LOL! The album from which this was taken, Communique, is an incredible work.

Thanks my friend from Spain for the comment. I agree that the version on Alchemy is probably more awesome, but the studio version is burned into my memory and is my personal preferred version, but since this was one of my very first videos (and I can barely stand to watch it now due to things I would have done differently, and I've been tempted to remake it)..a redo with the live version might be just the ticket. Thanks for the great idea. Gonna make it especially cool just for you!
