OMG!!!!!! I really love this kind music of steel band as it is so smooth and relax. It reminds me of laying on the hammock in the back of the beach house in Trinidad.
Small axe could always cut down big tree. Never underrate the size of this band for as i heard a past Captain of Renegades say in an Interview that each one in this band is a topclass pannist. This performance tells us exactly that.
I remember this........this was when wynton judged and was completely blown away by there performance.......he didnt believe pan could play what they were playin........high class music again from the samaroo jets
Wynton Marsalis bobbing his head as the band played was nice. Were you there at the festival that year? I might be mistaken but i thought I read somewhere that they were the only small ensemble band to win in a different category or something.....I forgot, maybe it was a different year.
back in those days the festival had no categories... some say its because of samaroo jets pantrinbago put restrictions on the number of players bands needed to compete, 25-60 players. samaroo jets had 7 and were subsequently forced out of the festival since they had no categories for smaller bands until the late 90's. they never won the festival but broke the hearts of many "big" bands beating them to make it to the finals.
I have never seen anyone play that fast before.
And I LOVE this arrangement. Aw geez this is so great!!

because of this performance the band was invited to perform at the new orleans jazz festival of that year where they made trinidad and tobago proud.
