i think i might have a way to explain the red stuff on EVE. eve died trying to protect ninten from R7307XX. most people beleive r7307xx is a robot but perhaps it was an alien of some sorts.

Geigue and Giygas are the same being, the name was just translated differently.

"Giegue" is a literal translation of "Gīgu". IIRC, It stems from the fact the game was in the middle of the translation phase when it got canceled in favor of releasing Mother 2 in the US.

Thus, most of the translation is of a literal nature and the translation pass that made the text less stoic and more applicible did not happen.

Well, when you say "Giegue", it comes out the same way "Gīgu" does (or should), so this could have been an attempt to translate the Japanese name into something that is as close to the Japanese name as possible, while retaining the proper phonetics. Therefore, "Giegue".

Also. "Gygig" (as far as I can tell) is where we get "Giygas" from, using the same principle of translating it to make the phonetics sound as close as possible to each other. I'm merely working on assumptions and fuzzy logic.

Yeah this was the first game in the EarthBound series known as MOTHER for the NES/FC in Japan they had plans to release this game in America under the title Earth Bound but the NES was getting old as of 1990 because of the SNES so in 1998 they put in emulators under title Earth Bound Zero so they won't get confused with the SNES title "EarthBound". Yes, the characters had different names Ninten, Ana, and Loid one of the difference is the party order Loid(Jeff) is secound and Ana(Paula) is third.
