What a crack up! I'm a Kiwi but Rolf was such an awesome performer for me when I was a wee kid. He's an Aussie legend. And his paintings were so cool (no-one has done anything like it since). Give the guy a knighthood. Oh, I had to laugh when he couldn't spread the fingers on his (false) right hand when he was counting his fingers!

When the professor heard this he went to Vancouver to try and meet Rolf and was repetedly mistaken for him. When my parents, and several others, went caroling to their music professor's house Rolf was there. He grabbed his accordian and said so what would you like to sing. Such a good hearted, down to earth, individual he is.

Not in 1969 though,I was only a year old!. The tune has been going around and around in my head ever since!.

@fjccommish Rolf affected a Dutch accent in the early performances because the original creator was Dutch. While performing in Vancouver in the mid sixties the act before him was a man named Frank Roosen who was singing this song. Rolf liked it and got his permission to use it and expand on it

The leg and arm on one side are fake. His other hand is under his overcoat working the leg, and probably a puppet mechanism for the arm because it moves as well.

Simple but Rolf's performance makes it very effective. I've heard accounts from people close to him and even they couldn't tell which it was.

I'm not telling you which one it is, see if you can work it out.

Said hand is incredibly shiny and reflective. Unless his hand has been doused in water recently, it shouldn't be that shiny.

Yes, it is the right side. But actually, it would be that shiny because he's wearing gloves and that's what the light is catching on. It's just more obvious on the right hand side because it's mostly stationary
