  • Endut!

    Hoch Hech!

  • In Dumb America children's cartoons propagandeted you

  • Does this also rhyme in Russian? I always wonder with translations like this..Anyway, this is curious because, if I understand this correctly America is a nation of nightingales, always wanting to 'sing the new tune.' Yet we more closely resemble magpies in our lemming-like urge to declare our tastes (Idol, et al), especially when it comes to singing. But what if the "nightingale" is just singing someone else's song...

  • In decadent West you laugh at propaganda, but in glorious Soviet Union propaganda laughs at you!

  • Hey, the early bird gets the worm...those nightingales can chirp all the way to the gulags.

  • If you ask me, this is actually a very effective propaganda cartoon. It's very subtle. It doesn't brazenly ridicule the Western world for its ways. But there is strong sentiment here of Russia just wanting to stay how it was. It's criticizing capitalism and its constant stress on the NEW, and out with the old. But Russia here is trying to say, hey. The old ways of life here are what we want. We don't want new just because it's modern. And more importantly, don't try to change our minds.

  • @Channel2511 hawe you ever here about such thing as marxism-leninism? try to read it and you will understand the meaning of words new and old

  • i think this propaganda has de ralied off topic

  • So the moral of the story is, that some people hate new stuff just because it's new? I fail to see how this is related to politics.

  • The nightengale at the beginning sings better then the rest! Cut his vocal cords!

  • I was just trying to compare american and soviet propaganda from the cold war and it's undeniable soviet propaganda was much more rich, subtle and i love the fact they say "abroad". Unlike american propaganda that mocks soviets in a shameful way...

  • gayest propaganda EVERR!

  • Dehumanizing is the worst about ideologic propaganda. "Pigs", "Swines", "Dogs". It's like stating "Think different, and you're not longer a human." It makes me sick.

  • @Skoda130 intersting

  • The Modern Music Magpie.

  • Got to say, the animation is pretty good.

  • imperialist pigdogs

  • Oh wow, I remember seeing this once as a child! It's interesting to watch it again and actually understand the messages behind it, I wasn't aware of them at all as a kid. And also, I was raised by a dad who listened to Pink Floyd and The Beatles- not your typical anti-Westerniser :P

Also guys, watch "The Scarlet Flower." It's not propaganda, but the animation and words are gorgeous. The USSR did make a lot of wonderful cartoons promoting kindness and morality as opposed to anti-westernism :))

  • Now that's one swinging magpie! Bebop Dee dum, daddy-0.

  • I don't see any Soviet propaganda in this cartoon. Just ignorance.

  • 1:37 "Bitch sit down..."says the soviet father. "Don't act like the west"...says the soviet mother.

  • i dont get it

  • To me this doesn't represent a direct attack on Western ideology as much as it does an all encompassing condemnation of non-conformity in general. It has more to do with quashing anti-Soviet sentiment and being content with what communism had provided up to that point. As far as the animation, it is suprisingly well done, and the Disney influence is clear. Very interesting piece.

  • Y0u have to remember that this cartoon was put out in 1949, before animation was very good in anything. This was a technical marvel to many people, especially those who grew without even electricity or indoor toilets. That was common in the USSR in 1949 (and in the US to a lesser degree)

  • "sivodni slishait jazz, saftra rodinu pradast"

"today he's hearing jazz, tomorow he'l sell the homeland"

  • american are really idiots

  • @chtovimenitebemojem you surprised by this??

  • Tyranny of the majority, them burdz.

  • what the jew?

  • i wonder if 50 years from now there will be fox news episodes on this channel

  • WATCH CARTOON TO IMPROVE THE MIND OR BE SENT TO GULAG

  • Russian dub is so bad it's funny

    but i still like Soviet

  • @Vuvenz Dude it's from 1949.

  • @Cryptnox i know

i'm not talking about the quality i'm talking about the lip sync and such

  • @Vuvenz

Birds with lips, oh god O_O

  • Lebron traveled BITCH!

  • I actually think it has more to do with some kind of "counter propaganda". You see, apart from the tipical (In communism there is no freedom bla bla bla), another thing communism is attacked with is that it doesnt develop at the speed capitalism does, (basecly couse its not suppose to, its function is to be able to have all your population living in a house, with a work and food on their table, the whole developing new things is secondary). It says theres no need to have new, flashy stuff.

  • if this wasnt russian i would say its us propaganda because what i got out of it was the red headed birds who to me represent the bolsheviks out of the desire to perpetuate the old traditional culture throught the other bird who i take it to mean the capitilst culture that lacks true culture despite what some of the other birds thought so it seems kind of odd and realy i thought being soviet propaganda it would betray the west a little worse then saying that they just lack culture

  • I didn't know Disney was making propaganda for the Soviets.

  • best animation

  • capitalist birds belong in ungrateful unstasteful meatpie.

    That is all.

  • If the whole world could agree on one government...

  • English subtitles could have been closer to the original Russian text.

  • Going someplace else to "sing" would be a great idea... if they would have let them out!

  • сорока, кстати, весьма неплохо-то исполнила)))

  • Not bad animation

  • How could anyone not like jazz?

  • the origins of lady gaga style

  • guess the red birds really dont dig it, man...

  • I'm glad it wasn't a crow though

  • It's more of an anti-western culture video rather than what they present as 'imperialism' or 'serfdom'.

  • brave communists and imperialist pigdogs around the world, lets both agree that cartoon propaganda is hilariously shitty and wouldnt convince anyone with an ounce of self determination of anything, lol

  • @bastardman25

I think it is aimed at children, not adult political dissenters with "self determination". However, the attack of the small birds against the singer is a not-so-veiled threat.

  • @bastardman25 it use to work though.

  • @bastardman25 Haha okay... it certainly doesn't convince me, seeing as my parents lived in the CCCP and suffered under the harsh rule of communism.

  • @bastardman25 Heavily agreed

  • Do a more accurate translation next time

  • Soviets have no taste in jazz

  • Comment removed

  • @TinklestheGoat No, that is not true. they simply did not forget immediately accept what was new, and forget what they were familiar with. It also says that the American culture dared to pass judgment on other cultures and musical styling without also examining itself in relation to other social conditions and what music might come with said conditions

  • Comment removed

  • @VympelMarine @VympelMarine American culture dared to pass judgement?? Do you now what you are talking about? American culture was not allowed in the soviet countries, at least in the 50s. If someone looked or behaved in a different way he was bullied immediately. Even people who dressed different were considered worse and enemies of the communism. What is shown here is just lack of tolerance. Would you like somebody to tell you how to dress or what to think?

  • @olabeach09 Im not arguing whether or not Soviets did this, im saying American culture in general has discarded old for new, thus continuing the ideas of musical exploitation by the majority of society, and no, the idea the soviets attacked anyone who did not behave a certain way is a blatant lie, and the soviets did not behave or dress in one certain way despite less choice among the majority of state retailers.

  • @VympelMarine What I'm saying is not just my idea. It is the information I have from people who lived those days in the Soviet Union. I am polish, and I know how the situation looked like in Poland in the years 50-70. As far as I talked to people from Belarus and Russia, the situation in their countries looked pretty much the same. But I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

  • @VympelMarine Of course, no one was attacked physically for being dressed a different way, and some people chose the modern style. But the theory was, that appearence tells a lot about your attitude towards the party. In Poland for example, in the 50s you had problems with being accepted to a school if you were manifesting a different style, you had also problems at work. Propaganda films were made, where the theory was pursued, that people who looked like this were lazy and enemies of thestate.

  • @VympelMarine In the 60'-70' the situation changed, but I still remember being asked by the teachers which kind of connection my family had with the western countries, because they saw I was wearing clothes from abroad. And it was the 80s! My parents used to visit the USSR a lot, it was all the same, whether Poland, Czech Republic or the USSR itself. Your freedom was limited. And a crowd of birds falling over another one and tearing his things of is a good example of this.

  • @olabeach09 The 80s were much different due to general civil unrest in the puppet states such as poland, the false guise of a communist government suspected anyone, the CCCP was soon to fall, and because of the numerous revolts in the military over their loss of power in the late 80s military reforms, that they revolted, and their failed coup tore the country apart, eradicating a possible seed for true universal freedom. I miss the Soviet Union.

  • @sharklord The cold war began only a few years after world war 2 which had an enormous effect on Russian socialism

  • I like this cartoon very much! Such ugly cacophony used to turn people into zombies. Such cacophony awakens sordid desires and always goes together with drugs and debauchery, also with criminal behavior.

  • @Motaro76 "Such ugly cacophony" is good jazz, and made up a huge part of American culture.

  • @CrizzyEyes Maybe. but this cartoon is illustrating that the soviets did not just immediately accept what was new, they held onto their traditions while transitioning.

  • My version of history is only warped by the winners. As it always has been and always shall be. Stalin was a loser. He lost, get over it.

  • @herrwest87 No, you are wrong. Stalin was a winner, he died like a hero, unlike the faggot Adolf Hitler who suicided like a fool. Stalin WON world war 2, and his soldiers raped thousands of "aryan" women. USA and UK are just jealous (and will always be).

  • @AnarchoCommunist1 Wait? Stalin was a winner because he just so happened to have the USA keeping the Japanese from dragging him into a two front war? You haters can say what you want but without the vast oil fields and raw power of the United States of AMERICA, Europe and most, if not all, of Asia and Africa would have the blood flag flying over their capitals.

  • @herrwest87 you realise that by 1944 before D-day the Red army pushed germany back to Poland....

  • @YoungFl0 Yes, And I realized that they were only allowed said luxury because we kept the Japanese from pulling them into a two front war.

  • @herrwest87 I doubt Japan would have been able to push a two front war, they didn't have enough resources to conquer other countries, I'm surprised they got far as far as Burma. America did fight the Japanese, but I get mad when people say that Americans defeated the Germans.

  • @YoungFl0 Why do you say that? The British did an excellent job of holding Germany, but they couldn't march to Berlin on their own. It was only with the combined efforts of the Soviets, the British, the US and Canada that the Allies claimed victory.

So in a sense, you could say that the Americans claimed victory in the Western theatre, although I am of the opinion that it was mostly the doing of the Soviets (and I am American).

  • @AnarchoCommunist1 Dude! your saying rape is good?

  • @AnarchoCommunist1 Heh, yeah, he obviously won in the end, we can see that now.

    Oh, shit.

  • @AnarchoCommunist1 You're saying rape is good you fucking retard?

  • Stalin probably had all those guys shot for some reason, or no reason maybe he was just bored. Crazy Guy

  • @ReadmanJ stalin didnt kill people because he was bored. he tried to do what was best for his country not his people in his paranoid head he consider these people stood against him

  • @jakkuhimlin Doesn't change the fact he was an insane lunatic who lusted for absolute power.

  • That was beautiful artwork in the beginning, to bad the artists didn't get a dime for it. XD

  • @herrwest87 Art is worth more to artists than money. Would it surprise you if they were compensated in some other way for their work?

  • @thejuryissleepless Well it they are commies, they run a good chance of getting killed over it.

  • @herrwest87 but... it's communist propaganda. how would they get killed over it?

  • @thejuryissleepless Stalin killed a vast number of people including artist and musicians. Why? Basically because he felt like it. Communist tyrants don't need a reason.

  • @herrwest87 wow. your version of history is no less warped than the ideologic tyrants of the 20th century. "Basically because he felt like it." way to make a point, jackass. Stalin killed dissidents, no question about it. I don't think that was an ethically reasonable policy obviously. But HE HAD AN INSTITUTION TO CREATE PROPAGANDISTIC ART JUST LIKE ANY AUTOCRATIC RULER. It wouldn't serve any Machiavellian rationality to execute those who disseminate his empire's ideologies. OK?

  • So she gave a free concert so they could take in another cultures, then they beat the crap out of her when they didn't like it.

Okay.. so do a good job and get no pay or thanks of it? Sounds like communism to me!

  • @herrwest87 actually she rudely barged her way into the forest being rude to their own culture and tried to push the foreign culture on them. this has nothing to do with communism this is about impearalism

  • so this is apparently anti-BigBand music... lol

  • As my great-grandfather Rossberg used to say, "If we weren't over there we would have been doing the goosefoot down Westminster ave'."

  • Its not so much anti-american imperialist propaganda, but anti-american values.

  • i guess the soviets didn't like jazz.

  • this vid appears to say don't change. if something new comes along drive it away. not changing hinders a people. they use the example of different music in this cartoon, but the idea of not changing makes the people not want to change other aspects of their society political ideas, humble ideas, social ideas etc.

  • Very interesting channel. It is amazing to see all of these old propaganda cartoons from the mid-twentieth century.

  • Bird dancing it's CAPITALIST ????? WTF !

  • Well...I am not too keen on Europe...in the 1030's...because a lot of them were embracing Fascism...

Not just the Germans and Italians...

  • @dudemantwo 1030's???????????

  • @Amrev2020

That's right, hide behind your false shield of the communist regime! My axe of capitalism with smite you both!

  • @AWOLpresents and why dont you explain why is this bullshit? at least, unlike american propaganda that can only shout: they KILLED 100 million people, when free market capitalism killed at least 5 times as much? maybe your idiotic brain doesnt have any arguments, so you just sprout BS.

  • This is how communists justify the lack of freedom artists have in communist countries. This is how the Soviets stemmed the jealousy the Soviets had over the number of brilliant artists existed in democratic countries.

  • hehe, I couldn't stop laughing as soon as I heard the magpie. xD

  • What an awful moral.

  • Name me 1 communist country that isn't a restrictive shit hole. And before you say "no country is truly communist!", don't you think there is a reason for that? Fact is; Democracy & Capitalism is MORE successful that Communism.

  • @chocolatesprite cuba. in cuba, every person has a job, food, and health care if they're sick. would you mind naming 1 other country in the world who can say "No one in my country is unemployed"?

  • @ShayCarlFan1000 LOL, Cuba is poor as shit. In fact most Cubans want to leave Cuba. If you talk to some one that was able escape Cuba they'll tell you communism sucks. Every Cuban is poor, there is no middle or rich class in Cuba. Most people can't afford internet. As far as food goes Cubans can barely fill up the pantry and don't get proper nutrition. and the government is corrupt up the ass and there is no freedom of speech or of expression.

  • @chocolatesprite and where do you have this information from?

  • @ShayCarlFan1000 Documentaries, books, and conversations with ACTUAL cuban immigrants.(You see I live near the gulf of mexico so there are a lot of carribean immigrants mostly Puerto Ricans and Cubans.) And the general knowledge that a government with complete totalitarian control sucks dicks. A free market gives incentive for innovations. Most people that lived in a communist country will tell it blows., You should read Ayn Rand's books.

  • @chocolatesprite What? you pulled all that shit out of your arse or something? OF COURSE there's no poor middle or rich class in cuba! its communist! and cubans live longer than the average american, because of better healthcare of course! and media wise, they are becoming more open actually, and the government is yet to be proven to be corrupt, and education is opened to everyone............

  • @lazerBAR LOL,everyone is fucking poor in cuba, media wise they are not open at all. Journalism is strictly controlled and if you dare speak out against the government you will be imprisoned. If you honestly believe Cuba isn't a corrupt shit hole then I have no Idea how you came up with that.NO Communist country has ever worked besides china! The average Cuban is poorer than the average american, thats why people from Cuba risk their life trying to come to america. Cuban people hate communism

  • @chocolatesprite

    I totally agree.

In Zimbabwe after the communist uprising there, people were forced of thier lands, all the wealthy farmers had thier land and cattle taken away and given to the masses. The place went bankrupt in a week. At the high of Zim, thier dollar was equal to the US dollar. Now you could probably buy the whole country with one US dollar. COMMUNISM DOESNT WORK. I want to scream this evey time I see an idiotic comment on youtube, or a poster for a Michael Moore movie.

  • @AWOLpresents shove your axe of capitalism up your ass faggot. in zimbabwe it failed because the govt was corrupt. in the ussr in turned a poor country into a superpower without invading any lands. communism does work, it only needs time and patience, and it cant have corrupt leaders in command. communism is like fire, if you dont use it correctly, it can be very harmful. simple

  • @FIFA07Addicted Ok I agree about Socialism but the prob is that most of the time it corrutps any one who is in power you should know the quote Absolute power corrupts power carrupts absolutly or something like it having that much pwer is very dangurous and Capitalism isnt that bad as it is protrayd by the Stalinits Its gives people motivation to work hard it gives people a right to bring in new things and new ideas it gives vast aray of products into the nation but it to can go very wrong

  • @spartanwarrier I kind of agree, but communists=/=stalinists. stalinism is just one of the many communist sub-ideologies. and yes capitalism gives people motivation to work but some people will always lose, and even if you have a society working to its maximum, some will go down anyway. thats the problem with capitalism. not to mention the almost criminal exploration of workers, and constant crysis.

  • @FIFA07Addicted Yes but no matter what idea, ogies or type of goverment or type of Trade you may have it will always have flaus. Communism and Capitalism both are great ideas but they both have flaus that can ruin a nation you just have to be very carful to not expose their flaus. And I believe that the U.S is abusing Capitalism at the moment and the EU which is very dangours becasue its not the nation that controls Capitalism but Capitalism that controls the nation which is good and bad

  • @spartanwarrier America isn't really a truly capitalist country and the USSR wasn't a true communist society. It was more of a dictatorship than anything. The US uses a mix between private and government controlled sectors. IT really only works if done in the right balance. But the fact that the US was more open and free, more could be done. OF course in any society there isn't PURE freedom. You still have to do things you don't want to but that's apart of living i guess.

  • @EpiDemic117 ya I can agree with that I was just trying to make a point

  • @FIFA07Addicted Yeah the USSR would of been alot different if that dickhead Stalin didn't take over. linen was awwright. But it still wouldn't of worked because there is simply just to much shit for an entire command control economy to keep track of. it always works best in a capitalist like society when it comes to small goods like food, home products, and other civilian items. Government is best for funding civil engineering project such as bridges, roads, library's parks.etc

  • @FIFA07Addicted the main problem i find with capitalism is people abusing the system and monopolizing everything. When a company becomes to big and starts gobbling all the little ones up you are left with a cancerous growth. If it spreads it could devastate the countries infrastructure by collapsing. The first one to combat this was teddy Roosevelt. That's what we need! another president like him!

  • @EpiDemic117 well thats true. I confess I would enjoy capitalism much more if it was more govt controlled, like when roosevelt took over. tbh roosevelt was a mix of socialist with liberal, and saved USA from total collapse, but now the stupid republicans are blaming this is crysis on him, as unbelievable as it sounds. just because he created the federal reserve, which has to be correctly used.

  • @FIFA07Addicted You seem to know what you are talking about. What is going on with Obama? I see a lot of videos on youtube stating he is a communist or a fascist and all kinds of bad stuff. What happened? I thought he was popular, those healthcare reforms seem like a good idea from my point of view... Did I miss something?

  • @evildeathmonkey1 the problem is americans are, generally, ignorant, and voted for change when they werent prepared for it. obama´s policies are no more socialist than those of sweden and norway for example and those countries are considered economic paradise by many experts. and yes the healthcare plan is great the problem is rich people dont want to lose a little part of their money. countries like germany have public healthcare aswell and they arent bankrupt, in fact theyre doing really good.

  • @FIFA07Addicted Well I don't know anything about the political climate other than what is shown in the media over here. But I can't say public health care is all great. Here in the Netherlands financing is becoming a big problem because of the growing number retired people and a shortage of young people to replace them. We call it the ''greying'' I don't an English term for that. Problem here is politicians only look at short term solutions because they worry about their careers to much.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 of course, in my opinion centre-right politicians are all like that. and also free healthcare doesnt work properly unless you have a left-winger/social democrat in charge of the country.

  • @FIFA07Addicted Also the problem is politicians are focusing to much on their ideology, I'm capitalist so I say this and that. What I think the western world needs is more pragmatism. Let go of the cold war, it's over. Find a good solution that fits the problem, not what your ideological ideal would be, they don't always match. But to do this requires courage and that is what is lacking at the moment in my opinion.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 yeah thats true aswell, they´re afraid to go forward with a bit of socialism, so people dont start to vote for socialists, but they must have courage like you said.

  • @FIFA07Addicted

"and yes the healthcare plan is great"

What is wrong with you xenophobic anti-American douchebags? The health care law is a giveaway to insurance companies approved in back door meetings. You xenophobic pricks really are disgusting.

  • @itachi705 no time to respond to idiots who try to be funny.

  • @FIFA07Addicted The USSR didn't invade other lands? What? Just wiki USSR. Communism doesn't work because it doesn't move fast enough to meet demands. Capitalism meets demands quicker because there is a motivation. If I lived in a command economy under Communism why would I care enough to go to work, unless of course it was under threat.

  • @RedSku11 no only stalin did. finland in 1939 i knew that but like I said before stalinism had elements of fascism in it, and its not like pure communism, or marxism-leninism.

  • @RedSku11 oh and they didnt actually invade the whole country, only karelia ,which belonged to russians, they were being oppressed by the finnish govt. thats the part the press and historians dont like to talk about, for obvious reasons. and they turned into a superpower in around 1945, which was 35 years before the invasion of afghanistan

  • @ShayCarlFan1000 No, I cannot name another country where I can say "No one in my country is unemployed". However I doubt you can say in cuba "I can think whatever I want" or "I can say and express any opinion" nor can you say " I can choose who will govern me and in which manner". Also who is providing the information that "no one in cuba in unemployed"? The cuban governemnt right? Yeah lets trust what a censorship promoting state says to the world...retard

  • @Scarer101st where do you get the information that they're not? the american government. lets trust information given by those who dislike cuba.

  • WTF is wrong with you. Jazz is infallible.

  • CHICK ABUSE! call the RSPB! wait... What's the Soviet version?

  • By the way, I hope I don't sound as a spammer,

but I created in my channel a playlist about

    soviet (and polish) jazz-funk;

if you are curious about that sound, then be my guest

  • Russia and communist didnt like jazz they considered it an american invention. My mom told me stories of how she couldnt hear jazz in cuba. Also jazz singers were stopped back in cuba.

  • @Clankwise

    this isn't all true, because a part of soviet people liked jazz;

from the early twenties there were jazz bands in all

soviet union; even during war years and post-war repression

it managed to stay alive, to find at least a big place in movie soundtracks

and in youth clubs (both "official" and "underground").

If you want to know more there is a god paragraph in Wikipedia's

Music of Russia page (there are links in which are told the stories of Rosner,Utesov or Lundstrom, bigbandleaders

  • Jazz was considered a gateway drug into outside influences so the heads of the USSR tried to quash it. Turns out that they couldn't because some of the later videos in DVD set have jazz in them.

  • @lovatolover8201992 No problem

  • @lovatolover8201992 That I like when people on youtube are not idiots who don't know what they are talking about. You actually know what your talking about

  • @lovatolover8201992 Oh I love smart people =D

  • WTF, some of the birds liked the magpie's style and they ran her out.

This isn't anti-capitalist it's just about shutting out foreign influence. xD

  • I think rock in roll is here to stay :)

  • lol. This propoganda stuff is fun to watch as an American.

  • @NebraskaGrunt American propaganda is bullshit too :)

  • @Potts132 nah, Have you seen the world war two one with the three little pigs? It's kickass!

  • @NebraskaGrunt I meant bullshit as in all lies. Same for the most part with Soviet Propaganda. But the quality on average, the Soviets have the BEST propaganda I have ever seen

  • @Potts 132 lol, well of course. ALL propaganda is bull crap. The soviets really needed the quality other wise no one would watch it.

  • @Potts132

Propaganda from any place is bullshit because that's the entire point of it. Not to tell the truth, or be educational, but convince little johnny that Ivan over there is the bad guy.

    Dumbass. :)

  • @AWOLpresents Uh... yeah that what I said

    Dumbass :)

  • Well, at least the birds are not attacking magpie for the honor of Stalin...

  • So if its new or different...Destroy It!!!

  • This is pretty ineffective propagand it just makes me hate those mean little birds

  • I find it ironic how the Americans did a very similar cartoon 13 years before this soviet counterpart was made, and had the pop singer end up winning the hearts of the public:

    watch?v=FI_365c8CCM&feature=related

  • I, as a communist, say that this propaganda is the worst ever in the history of soviet union =)

  • @usuariofuturista

I as a capitalist, although more inclined to smite thee with my axe of capitalism, agree with you: this movie is bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • @truefakeness STFU

  • Blaming our culture on rap music is an uneducated thing to do seeing as how African Americas are only an minority in America. You whites have lead to the down fall of our culture by greed.

  • @truefakeness

putting jazz in the same category as the new trash coming out of America now is ridiculous. Blues and Jazz both have revolutionary roots. Blues emerged as an expression of the revolutionary consciousness of the African-Americans of the 1920s. This consciousness came from their oppression as blacks, so they channeled it into music.
