  • Any idea how they got this name? A bodega is a Latin American or Spanish market, but I think it could also refer to a bagpipe used in southern France. In either case, it isn't clear why they named themselves this.

  • Ross (the fiddler) saw a pub named Bodega and they liked it.

  • Ha, is that true? Where is the pub?

  • newcastle

  • In Wales?

  • no, i think the north of england, where ross studies

  • Aha, Newcastle Upon Tyne. I checked the Flickr photo and that's where it is. Somewhere near Northumberland.

  • do you know what the flickr website for it is?

  • Sure, go to Flickr and put "Bodega" "Newcastle" into the search box. It should be the second photo that shows up. YouTube doesn't allow the posting of URLs or I'd make a link. (However, I did add a link to this YouTube page at the Flickr photo of the pub!)

  • Wow, I just found a great photo of it on Flickr.

  • On Wiktionary it says "bodega" means a storehouse for maturing wine. It comes from the Spanish "bodega," meaning "cellar," "winery," "stockroom," or "storeroom," from the latin "apotheca," meaning "storehouse," from Greek.
