Forget the argument about the merits or lack thereof of benchrest shooting. I'm disappointed I just spent 66 seconds watching a video without once even seeing the results on target.
cheat real skill has no gun vice.... to me the most i can have is sand bags for the front forearm other than that more support through out the whole gun is cheat
It's about a different kind of skill. Tuning the gun, finding the right ammo/rifle combination, etc. Someone could make the same argument for you using a front sand bag. Why not stand up and shoot like a man? Just kidding...it's just a different kind of competition than you might like.
The tuner alows you to adjust your rifle to different ammo. Benchrest is about removing the variables or compensating for them. One of the hardest things is to learn to read the wind. Even a slight breeze can move the projectile 1/4" which can easily cost you a bull.
This looks interesting because it goes to the extreme of rimfire accuracy but it looks as if it sucks the user error out of the accuracy factor which is a test of user skill.
Finding the best ammo and tuner settings take a lot of work. The equipment needs to be perfectly set up for every shot. When the equipment is known to perform well the only thing able to screw up the score is user error.
You can see him adjusting the rest at 40-50 seconds. Actually he does it for every shot but most of the time the right hand blocks the view.
Champ eh? Then why do you have a barrel de-resinator, why do you have a barrel break, and why the hell are you using something to hold the rifle still for you. Be a man, shoot with some sand bags. It's a 22 for fucks sake. Shoot a 45-70 you puss, that 22 does not compare.
what do you care... you probably spend less than $5 on an entire brick of whatever hyper-sonic crap wal-mart is selling that month, don't you... by the way, how's the squirrel in yer neck-o-da-woods dis season? is that yer kindy-garden teacher callin?
@aceinco Wow you take this shit way too seriously.. you must have a reeeeally tiny dick! K, now it's your turn to say something condescending to me, to repair your fragile little ego. (BTW, if your long barrel and expensive ammo ain't helping, you can try buying a big car.. I hear those help with your size compensation probs!) Thanks!
@maylolik man, that's completely uncalled for... and completely unprovoked, unoriginal, and uninspired... but hey, if you don't like my dick you're more than welcome to go out and find someone who can adequately fill your poop chute... what's your fascination with cock anyway? daddy touch you inappropriately when you were a little boy? mommy have lots of "uncles"? come on, insulting someone's tube steak is a little sophomoric, don't you think? my ego has been repaired... ahhh... I feel better
well, I have lots of times, actualy, at 100 yds, with a savage 22 mark II, federal red cardridge one buck/50, and a BSA contender 6-24 pwr, and guess? yes over sandbag, i'ts not that dificult if you try, down here in Mexico we dont need so much bull to shoot that way. just reed the flags.
I can knock a AAA battery off a wood block at 100yds with my Remington 597 9 times out of 12, (and that's in the Colorado Rockies) but that ain't competition, now, is it...
I challenge you to video a one hole 10 shot group at 100 yards and post it here. I'm good. REAL good. I shoot nickels at 50' standing up with iron sights and no rest, but no one can shoot multiple one hole groups at 100 yards outdoors without the right equipment, skill, and a bit of luck.
it's probably not a break... that WOULD be silly, especially since the guy is likely using subsonic ammo... it's a device that helps control harmonic vibrations in the barrel in order to make each shot more predictable (also the reason for full-float barrells) since the 22LR guys don't reload their own... nobody custom loads for a 22LR and that is part of what makes the sport so exciting... 5 shots, one hole, factory ammo...
yeah I know what it is now, i have learned a lot more on shooting and shooting supplies about it. I have seen it more common now, must mean that its working for some. I love shooting a 22lr to, getting the tightest groups at 50-200 yards is the same as getting groups in a 308 win at 330 yards, or some where around that, makes wind reading a challenge, while keeping the cost down
What kind of groupings are you getting with that setup?

DP908, there is no such thing as a "barrel De-resinator".
I think benchrest style shooting is a little silly myself, carting around all the stuff but let the guy enjoy his sport.
Dont rain on other peoples parades.
dom1104 3 years ago
well its not, the fact is, for 10 one hole shoting at 100 yrds you just don't need to much mumbo jumbo high tech stuff like bench rest shooters do.

Yea, but they are shooting EXPENSIVE ammo... I saw a few places selling Eley Ultimate match for ~30+ for a box of 100.
