Oh for the love of whatever. This, Sailor Moon, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and easily six or seven dozen other anime, are all part of a sub-genre called 'mahou shoujo' aka 'magical girl'. Calling this a rip-off of Sailor Moon, or vice-versa, is like calling The Apprentice a rip-off of Survivor just because they're both reality shows. And, for the record, Sailor Moon came before Tenchi Muyo.

This show was just an OAV which is like the 1st season. Think of this show as an idea for a show.

You mean Magical project S. That is an adaptation of this into a TV, please note that it only hosted in Japan so only subs availiable. It's based of this idea but slightly different.

What I kinda find interesting is that this magical girl KNOWS the costume looks stupid, and doesn't reveal her powers to others so people don't know she wears that (a.k.a. selfish reasons rather than selfless ones)

As for the villain, it's obviously a joke on Microsoft... it's good to know that the Japanese realize just how evil they are!

Each of the differnt Tenchi Muyo series has a different Continuality. Pretty Sammy was based off of an episode of Tenchi Universe, however it has nothing to do with Tenchi Universe other then the same characters. She loves him, but in a sibling way :). Less dizzy now?
