If he'd used it to reduce the height and angle of the end of the rut, excellent chance he'd've been able to drive out relatively easily - as is, he's mostly churning up the bottom and making the rut deeper, which just makes it more unlikely he'll drive out!

If you throw dry material..ie sand and dirt in the tracks...you would drive right out.

@casperman32 Very true. He can also do it from the cab while he is ramming back and forth. Near the end of each forward run he needs to turn the wheel into the side of the rut. Doing this will cave the side into the rut and he can effectively build a ramp to help lift the front out of the rut. Alternate sides on the forward run and you can basically fill in some of the rut as you go. Tough work and this only works in the right dirt conditions.
