Based on my 60' times the tail gate down helps traction (it is about 75 lbs over the back bumper)and my MPH is always slower 1-2 MPH with the tailgate up. Do you race an El Camino?
Oh I see. No I dont yet. I'm getting there. I do help my uncle frequently. I guess a 5th gen works differently than a 3rd. I never thought about the wieght over the back bumper. He has traction bars though. Also I think the tailgate on a 5th gen wieghs about 30 lbs at most haha.
Put your tailgate it it doenst help, it actually hurts your drag.
