how the F do they lift a hull so high up? one day when i was 9 my mom gove me a snark(cooler w a sail) and say'd go away. 23 years, a cople sunfish, lasers, hobie 16, and a 18 later, iv'e prettymuch figured it out. when i get a hull a cople feet up it's usualy pitchpoleville for me. thats with wings, and trapize cables. wtf am i doing wrong? check out my pitchpole vid. it was a brutal day.
I thought I recognised the Itchen Bridge in Southampton at various points, as well as other parts of the Solent. @axeldor is totally right: if you live near water, sailing is something that has to be tried! (especially if you live near the Solent, which is really the spiritual home of sailing :) )
Sailing is just a thing everybody has to life once. You can sail faster enought to know you are in trouble and enjoy it, or sail in a quiet wave day, with sweet winds and enjoy it too. Sailing is a must do.
Well, OK, I'm a Sailing instructor and maybe I'm too interested, but I really recomended, I've teached people from 6 to 60 years
Sailing is a need/love of achievement, it's not important if you sail a clasic wooden boat or the latest carbon/kevlar design it's that basic human characteristic to achieve.
The first time you sail solo across an Ocean the Equator or circumnavigate the Globe...those bouy markers fools race around will look as small as the people's minds who race around them...well, maybe not LOL!!! :-) Someone has to ride jet skiis & Harleys too right LOL!!! Wrong!!! :-)
you have sailed around the world solo? If we are so small minded and you are so great why are you looking and posting on a catamaran video? See, what I think is, you only wish you had the skill and balls to do what us cat sailors do! not make up b.s. about sailing around the world solo. so, whatever dude!
If you think that there aren't any serious racers who sail cats, think again. Until recently, the Tornado was an Olympic class, and likely will be again after London 2012. There are plenty of skilled sailors who practice for hours on end and drive hundreds of miles to regattas. Just because we sail cats doesn't mean we aren't competitive. What the guys in the vid did takes some serious skill, even if they didn't race on the day the movie was made.
In that case, I interpreted your comment incorrectly. When you wrote "me and other racers think sailing is a sport, you think it is a hobby", I thought "you" was referring to all cat sailors. My bad. I could not agree with you more, that cruising the world is not a sport, although I would define racing around the world as a sport (I'm thinking about the Volvo Ocean Race)
how do you know what a A class is my dad is almost world champion in that class and by the way a A class boat is so fast is because it only is 150 pounds

I agree with you. I get withdraw symptoms if I can't get to go sailing. I've got about 150,000 miles behind me now and I still love it.
The guys in the video look as though they are having great fun. It doesn't matter what you sail as long as you have fun and enjoy what you do.

sailing should not be a way to show how tough you are, but, a way to show how fun it is to be so close to nature and not even hurting it

ah but sailing is a relative term. Me and other racers think sailing is a sport, you think it is a hobby.

i pretty much consider the a class a testing class, because of the simple rules is more open to new designs and stuff.
dumon13 2 years ago
Looks like mostly Spitfires, although I might have missed something
