Hey, thanks so much for the gps recommendation! I was looking for a good app instead of having to drop $350 for gps and blue chart from West Marine. For just going back and forth to the Erie islands an app would work great. If your missing sailing like I am this winter check out tommot9’s youtube page or do a search for “Working Whimsy” and watch some of his awesome videos of him single handing his 30 ft Morgan. He does a good job of pairing up his videos with Jazz.
Great sailing videos! I just got a Catalina 27 and keep it in Sandusky, Ohio on Lake Erie. Last summer was my first season with her, so I am quite the novice. I'm curious, where did you get the gps app for your cell phone? (if that is in fact a cell phone your using) My speedo doesn't work on my boat so I was looking for a less costly alternative.
@av8torjbc I love using my Android phone for my navigation! I also have an Android tablet as a backup device. I use Google My Tracks to record the GPS log, I use ZPDashboard for the heads up display with time, bearing, speed, and heel. I use also Navionics for the marine charts.
