  • i think it's the perfect machine if we want to suicide us

  • Cool, if I ever have enough money not to work and just pursue interests I'm going to invent things - my goal is an iron man like suit - mwahahah

  • That's a terrific goal, but don't let money stop you. Put your ideas and plans down on paper. Build prototype things out of cheap available materials first to see if they work for you. Hell, I started designing this project with pencil & paper a few cardboard tubes and duct tape!

  • I asked the builder of Eric Scott's rocket belt, how they guarantee quality control of the peroxide fuel. He said, for one thing they buy from known sources and they do a quailty audit of every barrel as it comes in the door, and they do a purity check EVERY TIME they refuel the rocket belt. Along with professional pre-flight inspections of the belt, and quality control of every aspect that involves possible loss of human life, they leave NOTHING to chance. It's a professional aviation operation

  • Yes,I have worked with them on occasions, helping out when needed with material support or fuel. He and his staff do run a SAFE professional outfit. JetPack Int. has done a great job promoting GoFast products and have increased the public's interest of these fantastic flying devices.

  • njrocketbelt

They sure have. Thanks for replying. Thanks for the video too....and for keeping the spirit of the rocket belt alive. Pay no attention to the nay sayers. Fly the darn thing as much or as little as you like. Nobodys counting. Have fun.

  • Just a little too heavy I think for the rocket, It might have taken off if you were lighter.

  • Check the information box to this video. This was only my very first LOW pressure test to get a feel for the rocketbelt's power. I have flown it since then but I am still on the tether wire for safety reasons. The baggy doubled up tyvex suit is misleading, at this test I weighed 185lbs. and the belt can lift up to 200lbs. according to the thrust numbers and calculations. The guy in MEXICO who built one weighs 250lbs. and he has flown his already. You just consume more fuel per second of air time

  • What about your flight suit.....isn't the exhaust hot on your lower extremities? I saw Eric Scott fly and he spoke later to an audience. He said it took hundreds of tethered flights for him to be ready for untethered flight. He's also blown out his knees a couple of times and broken ankles....you name it. Eric comes across as a super star who would be a big star in moto cross if he wasn't doing the rocket belt thing. He's an athlete, make no mistake about it. He has finely honed instincts.

  • The temp at the nozzles (elbow height) is approx. 1100deg.but it quickly drops to 400deg. by the time it get to my feet. The suit is a doubled up Tyvex for extra safety. Eric has told me about his early "hard landing" injuries. He's a real trooper when it comes to jetpacking. There ain't much he hasn't done with one. WORLD RECORDS GALORE!! He defiantly set the bar VERY HIGH for the rest of us! I hear he's semi retired now and that he has hung up his winged shoes......Well. at least for a while!

  • where did you get your plans and hydrogen peroxide from?

  • Gerald -

Your early flights sure beat what that old gheezer Harold Graham attempted.

    Hal Graham [no relation]

  • Greetings your EMINENCE, I am TRUELY HONORED by your critic of my early Rocketpack performamce. You are the #1 pioneer in this field of SRLD's and we can all look up to you and admire you achievements! It took guts(and faith in your SLRD team)to strap the very first ROCKET-BELT on and give it a GO! Then to fly before the Pentagon's Brass and later for Pres. John F Kennedy. All are GREAT ACHEVEMENTS that regular people can only dream to emulate. You rank up there with the other 1'st of FLIGHT

  • NO, Someone can't READ ! It was a LOW PRESSURE TEST. He didn't expect it to lift him up as much as it did with only a 420psi fuel pressure setting.

  • How much do these things cost anyway? Can anyone buy them, and does a user need any special certification?

  • I built mine from scratch...and it cost me a lot of scratch to build it,test it & keep fueled when practicing. There are a few companys offering completed Rocket-belts/jetpacks. GO Fast Jetpack int. has a model as does THUNDERBOLT AEROSYSTEMS INC. They range between 90 & 150K complete.

  • how much does fuel cost? and how much fuel does it consume?

  • lol that looks like fun. like the jetpack was supposed to be a serious idea anyways..

  • It's a blast, it's got to be the scariest fun I've ever had till now! Race cars, motorcross, motorcycles or flying a Cessna don't thrill me like learning to handle this beast does!

  • yeah your a dumbass

  • That's the physics behind it plain and simple. You are never heavier than you are at take off.... Besides I'm in no hurry. Only fools rush in to unknown territory and there ain't too many Rocketeers out there handing out instruction sheets on what to expect when you strap one of these bay-boys on! Believe me,when I crack that throttle, It's like Shakin hands with the DEVIL himself! The noise, heat and power are in a word..AWESOME!

  • When I eventually crank it up to 100% power from the 80-85% I am now practicing at I will have MORE than enough thrust. The belt full weighs 140 + 180 me = 320lbs. While firing the belt and standing on a scale I only read about 25-35lbs of static weight. that means I only require 36lbs of additional thrust to be weightless or flying. At that point I will have to reduce the throttle and thrust, otherwise I would continue rising as I got progressively ligther!

  • Your doing great,

Can you tell me where to look for information on the fuel you use.

    thank

  • Google ..Peroxide Propulsion they are in Sweeden. The fuel is very pricey at approx. $100.00/gal and a gallon only lasts about 5-7 seconds. These flying beasts are quite thirsty !!!

  • Thanks,

But you konw I think I will try an new way to get that high pressure thrust (It only Steam)

    Bill Hamilton

  • lol... $20 a second... thats like bill gates budget... excuse me sir, your bag of gold seems to be leaking :->

  • you must have money to burn. why don't you do something worth while with your money instead of throwing it away on stupid shit like this?

  • "why don't you do something worth while with your money instead of throwing it away on stupid shit like this?".....Hmmmm, Sounds like something a FOOL once said to the Wright Brothers! Remember, money is just a tool you use to achieve something with.

  • You're not one of the wright brothers. You're just a person that throws his money away on stupid shit. Hope for your sake the day won't come when you wish you had all that money you threw away.

  • starbuck680

Hope for your sake the day won't come when you wish you had done something as exciting and daring as flying a rocket belt.

  • I'll never have the urge to throw money away on something as childish as this thing. Can't think of anything that's exciting & daring without throwing huge amounts of money away? You sound just as immature as this bird brain in the video.

  • What are you talking about, "throw money away"? A jet aircraft costs 10, maybe 100 times what one of these costs. This thing is cost effective for what it does. It thrills and impresses. To each his own, eh?

  • It's cost effective? That's a good one.The peroxide costs 100 dollars a gallon & it lasts 5-7 seconds.Where do you get cost effective from? How can you even put a jet aircraft in the same catagory as this thing? A jet serves a purpose. What purpose does this thing serve? To spend huge amounts of money to be in the air for less than a minute at a time is worth something? Where can you go with it?No place. What do you do with it? Get in the air & go around in a circle & land? Oh wow, such great fun.

  • starbuck680

How bout drag racing? Costs more, and doesn't last as long. As a spectator event, I prefer to go watch a rocket belt. Have you seen one in person? It's quite amazing. Unilke ANY other flying device, the rocket belt is the most daring of them all. There is no propeller, no parachute, no chance for recovery should the thing so much as burp. Nothing between the operator and certain death except his rocket belt. You can't appreciate it unless you go see one in person.

  • Drag racing is a sport, a competition. Pro drag racers get paid to drive the car & they don't pay for the upkeep of the car or the fuel that it uses. You just gave another reason not to bother with this thing, it's dangerous. Run out of fuel in the air & you die. If something goes wrong while you're in the air you die. It would be cool to see someone fly one in person I'll give you that but he's getting paid to fly it. He's not risking his life for free. I'm sure he gets paid very well.

  • starbuck680

Oh yeah, Eric Scott for instance, comes across like a rock star or something...like a pro-athlete. He's definitely A-team material and I'm sure he wouldn't have made those 800 flights unless it was for good money. He earns it though.

  • Like you said, to each his own. No matter how lame that happens to be

  • If you would have taken the time to read the summary you would have seen the tests were LOW PRESSURE TESTS !! Low pressure means LOW THRUST ! or is that too hard for you to grasp. Next time take the time to READ things carefully before you post such witty comments, otherwise it makes you sound quite STUPID !

  • Too many cheeseburgers.

  • Cheeseburgers,NO. Protective NOMEX fire proof undergarments plus 2 Tyvex chemical resistant outer suits may give me the doughboy look but it's SAFETY FIRST! What do you wear when you put 5 gal of rocket fuel on your back?

  • no offense rocket man but a Mexican named Juan Lozano already invented a fully functional one that actually lifts off the ground. So you can stop trying now.

  • If you read the summary you would have seen these tests were LOW PRESSURE TESTS. So NO offense taken, I have talked at length to Mr.Lozano about our rocketbelts but no one ever stopped building or improving airplanes or cars after they were invented.

  • hes only having a bit of fun!

  • rocketbelt builders are not everyday average people

  • hi daddy!!! i think your the coolest rocketeer!!! please be careful! it took you long enough to build that belt. i think its so cool!!!!

p.s. dont listen to that jerk...he wishes he was as dumb as you! love you!!!!! stefanie<3

  • haha, he doesn't wish he was as dumb as you... ;)

  • Seriously cool! I'm assuming you're using silver-catylised H2O2? What sort of flight-times are you expecting?

Have you thought of adding a secondary LOX tank to add thrust by igniting the H2 generated as the H2O2 breaks down?

Are you a "real" rocket scientist, or is this a hobby?

Do you need a smaller test-pilot? I'm only 67Kg (I'd love a go, but my wife would kill me if I even strapped it on!)

  • Doh! I mean an extra combustible tank (pressurised methane, butane etc) to use the O2 (NOT H2, stupid mistake there).

  • I am proud to say this Rocket-belt is only the eight privately built operational belt in the world since 1959. Regarding the test pilot job, your wife will be happy to hear, my 105lb. daugther already volunteered to give it a try!

  • Would that work as planned? haha. has anyone done that with a rocket belt?

  • Yes, it uses a bed of specially treated pure silver screens. The motor I designed produces approx.1000 hp,giving 375-400 lbs of thrust and gives me about 25-28 safe seconds of flight time. I don't plan any usage of additional fuels it is too dangerous and would create too much additional heat stress on the motor & nozzles.I'm no "real" rocket scientist, I'm just a very persistant self taught Rocket-belt builder. Then again the Wright Brothers were just bicycle makers who had a dreams of flying!

  • using it for a backup escape is good, but not for everyday travel. Lets say it got to the point here anyone could use them and they were whisper quite. With that aside how many people run out of gas when they drive?

  • Imagine the DUMB people that think they have enough fuel to go somewhere but in fact they don't and what happens, they fall to their death unless they had a parachute, but the time for it to open up and be fully functional might be too long and don't work. I just say jetpack, rocket belt, whatever you want to call them, are a bad idea, just like flying cars and should never be for the everyday person

  • Can you say LOUD.. just waiting for it to take off and explode and you becoming a human fireball..haha that or it dies in mid air and you fall to your death. Don't try something stupid like that, pay for your airplane ticket.

  • Airplane,I don't need no stinkin airplane! All kidding aside there has never been a serious injury or death to any rocketbelt pilot. Unlike cars, these machines are proven safe since the 50's. It was considered as a backup escape method in the Apollo program to get from the moon to the orbiting Command ship if the landers main engine failed! You are right about one thing they are loud and hot too, 1300 deg.. It's like shaking hands with the devil when you open the throttle!

  • i must admire your madness. if i had a hat id take it off.dont let your greatness get you killed.

  • this is the funniest thing ive seen in years cant wait till the third test. keep up the good work.

  • It sort of makes you feel like an infant taking their first wobbley steps or as a child riding your bicycle without training wheels for the very first time. Like everything, it just takes lots of practice.
