And you dont need teleport for PvP, it doesnt make you helpless in any way. I use acrobatics, and again. I have yet to die in a fair fight.
@stanfillkj thunderbolt lunge was overpowered on release, it didnt have a cooldown so u could just spam it. there might still be a vid on it, where people just spamed it. it think it only cost 1 end too

Or try out heroes of newerth. It's a 5vs5 game where mission is to destroy buildings. You can choose up to 60+ heroes to play. The games graphics is really really nice. If you played dota you will love it.
Also you dont just destroy buildings you can kill eachother and gain gold and exp.
It's a match room kind and max lvl in a match is 25.

You need a really low latency/ping to the server for melee. If it's not low enough then you have to lead/predict your target's movement(sometimes impossible).
That was great, I got this game and I'm actually really liking it. The problem is they made the character creation so good, I can't stop making new chars lol. I don't get to enjoy the game play that much.

Well i have been paying since Closed Beta, and there are really easy ways to fight ranged, mostly is getting thunderbolt lunge (the martial arts lunge) or a might lunge... basically like this guy does eventually is it sends him flying at the guy, and you can get advantages where it takes him out of his travel or he will be stunned.
man it seems like if ur melee and u fight a range guy all they have to do is run around and shoot. Out of all the pvp melee vs ranged it looks one sided but otherwise the game looks epic and i wanna play
Melee can compete, but need to be very careful with what powers they choose. You will need a solid snare/root/hold. And never ever never ever take a melee builder. With a good strategy melee finishers are fine though.
@jgriff12345 actually, in the new free to play release, they fixed it so melee can stand up to ranged players, increasing the range and power, among other things, for the melee players. there's a video on the website about it.

All of my characters are taking teleport for their first travel power. I wish it wasn't so, but teleport is far and away the best PvP travel power (provides the best survivability). You are, sadly, gimping yourself if you don't have it.
It's a bit hard to tell when he actually misses. I do see the little red text in the middle. I guess this is quite different from City of Hero because when you are out of range, your powers won't activate. I played WAR for a little while and I don't like it how my melee is swinging even though I am a bit out of range.

I dont know if they fixed it but in the beta the most cheap thing to do in dueling was use teleport and regen, you never die..... ever.

There is only one server in CO. This is good for the instanced PvP queues. The wait time for PvP matches is very low.

not sure if you were planning to pvp or not but there is an ability you can get before you even hit level 5 that has a slowing effect.

Yah, there are some antikiting abilities. Just didn't have any for these initial newbie duels.
Duel swords has a nice semi-spammable root. But, full melee is going to be at a disadvantage in this game.
