The Flyers were ...hockey! I am a Canadian and I swear those Flyers were an interesting team. They were great villians and Montreal Canadiens were the class of the league and beat the Flyers with much better skill. It was a golden era of 70's hockey.

I agree. It is a shame. Sittler was under rated as a tough guy. Guys with talent don't get recognized for how tough they were because they are usally needed out of the box. Shultz was over rated and finally git his come-uppance by Larry Robinson who destroyed him and broke the back of the orange menace by doing so, paving the way to the habs dynasty, which led to the islanders and oilers dynasties and eventually the flames and penguins before clutch and grab suffocated the game again.
Apparently a fight with Sittler vs. Garry Howatt of the Islanders is legendary. The flyers were pussies back then - they always pulled this crap on teams when the opponents had lightweights on the ice and they had their goons. They weren't nearly as tough individually save for Schultz. Clarke always hid behind his goons, where Sittler would take on anyone. A shame Sittler didn't beat the shit out of him when he carved his face up!

I agree. It is a shame. Sittler was under rated as a tough guy. Guys with talent don't get recognized for how tough they were because they are usally needed out of the box. Shultz was over rated and finally git his come-uppance by Larry Robinson who destroyed him and broke the back of the orange menace by doing so, paving the way to the habs dynasty, which led to the islanders and oilers dynasties and eventually the flames and penguins before clutch and grab suffocated the game again.

Apparently a fight with Sittler vs. Garry Howatt of the Islanders is legendary. Too bad video of it hasn't been uncovered, but then not all game were televised back then - even in the eighties, I remember Wendel mentioning that in some arenas playr knew they could likely get away with stuff and not be suspended because they knwe there'd be no video evidence. I don't spend time reviewing hockey fights, but I will search for the Robinson/Schultz tilt.
