This song is so great that even inspired the name of a great band "The Runaways". Thanks for bringing back memories of my childhood. Timeless Classic.
I'm Italian and now I'm 54. In 1985. I was in Brighton and was looking for a record called "Macbeth" by Third Ear Band because I liked two songs in it. That summer I bought some unknown records like "First Base" because of its beautiful sleeve. One night I played "Macbeth" in my landlady's turntable. I found one song I liked (Fleance) but I couldn't find the other one. Then I listened to "First Base" and the second part of "The Runaways" was the song I was looking for. What a coincidence.
i put jenny's name forward for the best female vocalist ever on rock radio manchester you listen to this then black dog it shows how talented a singer she is .and yes this album gets played regular in my house timeless they dont make um like this anymore
Yeah! That was my second album I bough. That was almost 40 years ago and still this song still remanent. I saw their show in Montreal. Now I am more than 50 years old and still remember of those days where doors were open. Listening again reminds me of all alone we are but still well surrounded if we keep mind open...
How is it possible that such music I never happened to get in touch with? One of this gems that don't need to wear shiny leotard to captivate my attention
Dave Hewitt now pretends to remodel kitchens in Atlanta, taking money from customers for work he never intends to complete. He's a thief with outstanding warrants. Sad but true.
There are moments when one can not help but become somewhat depressed. Listening to this awesome songs is one of those times. The last time i heard this i was a young man. Not so much now. Time really does fly . And I have some catching up to do and Thanks to Youtube and some really awesome people i can do that.
It was actually released in Canada a year before as an import and on the strength of The Mexican capitol broke it in North America a year later. Some great albums followed but band members kept being replaced until eventually they were all almost gone and their last album had 1 decent song with filler all over the place - probably due to Shacklock's departure. Great band. Haan was amazing what happened to her?
i was lucky enough to see them at Place des Nations in Montreal in 1974
ya the seventies so memories are vague eh.. I can not believe that tonight July 10th after all these years i will see them again..Jenny is the sexiest performer and singer i have ever seen...she puts her heart and soul into the show..absolutely mesmerizing ..oh ya lets not forget the band behind her Lucky Guys..My vote for best debut album of all time...Hey Jenny look for me tonight. PLEASE.....
hi!I just saw your comment...I love the "Duchess of Orleans" too and, because english isn't my mother tongue,I can't make out all of the lyrics and I can't find them anywhere...could u write them for me?it would be very kind of you...thanks!
Great band! I was really into these guys back in the early to mid 70's. All great players, Shacklocke was a very skillful guitar player! Still have all the vinyl....

@FLHTP2007 Why not? He is a criminal. Dave Hewitt could, of course, return the money he stole from me as he promised.
