  • Octopi are the reason we should not have water-proof technology, especially that can be used to create more water-proof technology!

  • It had to fire a torpedo

  • wow O__O

  • at 0:16 GET AWAY OR ILL INK ON YO....oops to late

  • One day the octopuses will rise up against us and we will be unprepared.

  • When I come back in my next life, I want to be that haha

  • Looks like the octopus' cloaking device went offline at the worst moment.

  • That would be cool gift to have I can rob banks and get money ok I'm kidding

  • I wish I could do that

  • @weilwen Well then hope someone doesn't bump into you while your camouflaging naked on the street xD

  • @MaDrung I wouldn't be on the street. I would be somewhere else if you know what i mean :D

  • Holy shit balls!!

  • OK totally looks like it belongs in Harry Potter or some other magic thing. So frikkin AWESOME!!!!!!

  • OMG

  • what the heck.

  • @polecontortionist i think i might have said something like it LOOKS fake, but i never doubted that it's real. i've already seen octopodes do that before.

  • Invisible or just taking on the colors of that sea bush?

  • @TheIncredibleWahoo i would say invisible

  • maybe the diver is an octopus too!

  • Ninja of the sea. It even uses the smoke bombs (ink).

  • i like octopus

  • octopuses are awesome

  • not a fake, i already saw that

  • That demoman's an octopus!

  • this mimic (mimic is a short name for Thaumoctopus mimicus) is camouflaging in sea algae. Octopuses have pigment cells in their body and that's how they change color in a flash.

  • What is this magic?!

  • OCTOPUS got "SCARY" eye

  • It's fake, around 0:11 you can see small outgrowths from the "head" they disappear when then octopus changes color, they probably used some morphing software to make a smooth transition between weed and squid

  • @horbergus They can do that.

  • @horbergus Sorry, Dude. But they actually can change texture as well as color. This is completely real (and amazing).

  • @streisleit Ok, thanks for schooling me up man :) if that's the case, that truly is amazing

  • I want one lol

  • I lol'd at the description

  • IT'S A FAKE

  • @amondem And you know that how?

  • Wow, they have octocamo too? Cool! :D

  • It isn't an octopus it is a cuttlefish.

  • @DJSkinNBonez .....No that's an octopus.

  • @DJSkinNBonez wrong

  • @DJSkinNBonez I dont think so, check google images dude thats an octopus

  • @DJSkinNBonez Obviously you have never seen either. An octopus has eight legs spread out around its 'head'. A cuttlefish has them focused on the front of the mantle. Get your facts right.

  • Majestic

  • Did the oatmeal bring you guys here?

  • @ConnorTod lol

  • @ConnorTod Aye ;)

  • @ConnorTod yuup!

  • @cuhooliganmaceaunrig It is not fake. This is the Thaumoctopus mimicus (common name: mimic octopus). They can quickly camoflauge and morph their body shape to mimic flatfish, banded sea snakes, lionfish, seahorses, crocodile snakes eels, stingrays, sand anemones, feather star, brittle star, jellyfish, giant crabs, nudibranchs, sponges, polychaete worm tubes and colonial tunicates.

  • @ConnorTod Yup; that's a great vid too!

  • @ConnorTod OMG yes, he did lol

  • Its real because you can see that the rest of the plant is moving in the current except the part that is the octupus.

  • OMFG!?

  • Did anyone see that small striped fish swimming in the background...?

    lol?

  • OCTOPUS >>>>>>> CHAMELEON

    Remember this, people.

  • This is a mindfuck....

  • "!" at 0:13

  • If they ever make a suit like that and advanced optical camouflage like that I hope they give some out if you need to hide from a bad situation

  • fucking octocamo... snake should take lessons from it

  • that was cool. It almost didn't seem real

  • @101AnnieStar101 Chameleons change color based on emotion, not surroundings.

  • @bdoherty44 wrong. i put a dark green one on my shoulder (yellow shirt) and it turned very light green almost yellow immediately to camouflage.

  • @bdoherty44 wrong, they change color to blend in and to mate. look up the chameleon sunglass video.

  • holy crap O_O' its like half chameleon half octopus >.<

  • they do this via pigments in there skin

  • Octocamo...awesome.

  • Omg It just like dissappered........THATS SO COOL!!!!!!

  • Screw ditto, I want this thing!

  • so white is the default color?

  • @Icyphire possibly as the substrate is white too, or it could be a warning colour. You noticed it went from camoflauge to a very contrasting white - could be warning to potential predators to back off.

  • INCREIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That octopus should be banned. It's cheating !

  • SPY!

  • @VromNath QUICKLY where's the nearest pyro? O WAIT WERE UNDERWATER

  • Octopi (and many other animals) use camoflage, nothing special

  • @hutchmaster99 but i have never seen one actually DISAPPEAR... i usually see them just change into the color of whatever they are on, but i have never seen one camouflage better than HALO... lol

  • @vicktrickly72 Again it's camoflage.

You'll be suprised as to how much animals can do.

  • @hutchmaster99 I know what camouflage is, I'm not stupid, I just have never seen such a transparent example of it.

Your head would explode in reaction to how much Humans can do.

  • @vicktrickly72 He wasn't transparent he was very well camoflaged.

Also,I'm human and humans can't do SHIT!

  • @hutchmaster99 WEll that octopus is more camo-talented than the rest i've seen then.

About Humans- You know what, nevermind... I need to prove nothing =)... I already know so it's cool

  • @vicktrickly72 Well Octopi are a very intellgent and interesting species.

Also I wasing being meani in my recent comment so sorry if I came out like a douche.

  • @hutchmaster99 well you are forgiven 10-fold ^ ^

  • DID THIS REALLY HAPPEN? SERIOUSLY

  • Camouflage Engaged.

  • would be gross if I were stepping on an octopus right now...

    OH WAIT

    SHIT!

  • "Sub-Commander, our cloaking device has failed!"

    "Maximum warp to Romulus!"

  • 38 people are government spies and trolls

  • 0:17 flee!

  • It's a Cuttlefish, actually, you can go google it and you will find is real. This video appeared in a documental.

Actually, the cuttlefish can copy in one second or less, not only the color, but the texture of the environement. And for those who say "How did he found it with that camouflage?", as I said, in the documental it explains he followed it for more than 1 hour.

  • @wakraya Why would anybody believe your comment when you write it like that? Ive seen that video you are refferring to and yes this video and that one are real. But no this is not a cuttlefish its an octopus...they look very different. The words are 'documentary' and 'environment'.

So content of your comment=good. The way you wrote it? = Pathetic.

  • @wakraya cuttlefish? It's an octopus. Cuttlefish have fins

  • That was INSANNEEEE

  • Breath-taking, jaw-dropping surrealism

  • Next time, spy check.

  • oh nature

    u so crazy

  • @0racun I notice that... I wasn't really expecting for my comment to get that many thumbs up.

  • cool! I love you octopus

  • the 37 dislikes were from a school of fish that were deceived by said octo-killer

  • look at the name damnit, it's "photo"shop, u can only manipulate photos

    this video is videoshopped

    lol jk, i know it's real =D

  • Fucking cephalopods, how do they work?

  • .........amazeing!

  • that's the Old Snake of the ocean

  • yes Beth a video can be photoshopped. look up Harry, Smoke or Inferno under video post production and you will see. forget the bible, this is God.

  • then how could you see it in the first place? lol

  • @toomuchdude4u magic

  • @pogo14022002 it was a joke like invisible, got it off of spongebob XD "invisible spray"

    Spongebob: look patrick, invisible spray

Patrick: "But i can see it"

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ thats where i got it from :)

  • @toomuchdude4u by following it for almost an hour before hand then slowly gettin real close when it is chillin on that rock

  • @toomuchdude4u Dr. Hanlin mentioned in a documentary that he'd been on around 5,000 scientific dives for research on cuttlefish.

  • @toomuchdude4u If you go to cracked(.)com and look for the article: 6 Modern Technologies Animals Invented Millions of Years Ago, you will find that #5 is the cuttlefish. In the article is a video to watch that shows the person who originally took this footage explaining how he was actually following this cuttlefish for a number of hours before capturing this dazzling display.

  • @ChrisJMP88 i saw that too only it was a new york times video

  • @toomuchdude4u they probably saw it camoflage on top of the bush before they went close

  • i flinched

  • FUCKING HELL

  • That was great! Thanks for sharing!

  • @mintico google it

  • @pogo14022002 [Citation Required]

    You're an idiot.

  • @mintico Ummm you cant Photo shop video....

  • @Rhagedx86 Sure you can. You just have to do it 24 times for every second of screen time. ^_^

  • @Rhagedx86 everybody knows you have to video shop videos, duh

  • @mintico that is NOT photoshopped!!!!!!! the common octopus did it with it's photophores!

  • @mintico

dude this video wasn't photoshopped. it is a very famous video that was on the ny times website when the recorder (a professional in cuddlefish and octopi) was interviewed

  • @mintico i dont think that it was photoshopped...

    could be real

  • @mintico lol ur an idiot, watch any video on octopi(?) changing colour and you will see they can not only change to almost every colour but can actually alter their skin texture to mimic certain objects

  • @mintico your fucking a dumbass, a video cannot be photoshopped

  • @mintico no it is not most octopus can do this it is a natural defence

  • @mintico Idiot, octopi are famous for their camouflaging abilities.

  • @mintico lol suck a dick bik boi

  • @mintico totally agree

  • Octopus: The Ninja of the sea...

  • FAKE AND GAY

  • @captureking Surprisingly this isn't fake and gay. Octopus are the #1 color changing animal next to chameleons.

  • @MrPantshirt They have chameleons beat dude. the lizards change color according to emotion with a small range. As you can see, these fuckers can look like whatever they happen to be hugging at the time...

  • did not see that coming..

  • hmmm, so it does blend.

  • AMAZING!

  • @mellamoSaraaa Finding Nemo Reference

  • We are no longer safe...

  • I think i speak for everyone here when i say "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

  • how is this a suggested video to "Move it like Berney?"

  • For those who think it's fake

    /watch?v=7NQUqR_YpsA&feature=related

  • THAT'S ONE MASSIVE EYE.

  • Absolutely not fake :) If you dig in a little you can actually see an interview with the marine biologist that took that particular video. We all think animals are just stupid creatures, but they have evolved in ways we can only dream about. Even though we do have brains and cognitive thought, they have abilities we will never possess.
