  • I swear I commented on this the other day! Stupid youtube!

That sweater is so cute! I don't think I could ever knit a sweater, it seems too hard. lol

That yarn & pattern are fantastic! I cast on for a pair of socks for myself to work on on the airplane next week. I just knit about 1/2 an inch into it and I'm going to put it aside and it will be my travel project! haha

    Jake is beautiful!

I hope your cold is better. I have a flu bug too. ugh!

If I don't see you before. Have a Merry Christmas!

  • That is such a cute sweater. Hope your cold goes away very soon

  • Thanks, Irene, I can't wait to see it on her. I tried the body of it on her at Thanksgiving before I had the sleeves done. It made a darling "vest" like that.

My cold is MUCH better, thank you! I almost feel human again!

  • nice car what make is it?

  • i love the little elephant cardigan, how cute :-)

i am also excited to 'meet' Jake!

    get well soon

    x hugs x

  • Hi Twish! It ended up really cute. There is a free pattern book online with the knitting patterns for a lot of animal sweaters. The original book is from 1948, I believe. I can PM you the link if you're interested. I was amazed the pattern was so easy to follow. But I did opt to use duplicate stitch instead of the two color knitting the pattern called for. I really liked the sweater plain too and will make more.

Sorry, I went off on a knitting tangent! :-)

    ((((hugs))))

    16 hours until Jake!

  • Hi Deb - I do hope you are feeling better soon - your plate is certainly full at the moment! I moved a dog in with 2 cats a couple of years ago - the only problem was that the male cat had been neutered late in life, so still sprayed. He continued to mark his territory with urine the rest of his life. If your cats are not 'markers' you may be okay. Don't you have exposed beams and places they can hide? Our dog was mellow so ignored the cats and they adjusted rather quickly really.

  • You must be somewhat excited while maybe a bit panicked at the same time, no? Loving the sweater - it's adorable! Did you use cotton for her? I've only used acrylics for kids but am trying to get away from them and into more natural fibers. Any recommendations? Can't wait to see Jake in the snow! He's really beautiful and that calmness should help!

  • Very excited...and panicked, that about sums it up. We did get our Dish Network satellite dish installed tonight. We must be moving in, we have "cable". ;-)

I used acrylic for this sweater. Believe it or not this is the very first item I have ever completed with acrylic. And it sure was a dream to work with. Her mom needs something that she can machine wash. You could try "Superwash Wool" which is usually is for socks. It always has a tad of nylon for stretch. Would make a cute turtleneck too.

  • I've felt MUCH better the past two days. Today I feel almost normal...well, at least as normal as I get! ;-) My plate? I can't even find my plates, we're eating frozen pizza off paper plates tonight, yum! But they were in OUR OWN refrigerator and cooked in our stove. I really wish I had gotten more things moved before bringing Jake home tomorrow night. Yes, we have lots of beams and places for cats to hide, and Jake will be in his crate when we first 'face to face' introduce them.

  • Good thinking. For being so sick and busy and over whelmed, you seem to be planning really well. Do let us know how it goes once you're back up and running again. Oh, and if your daughter would send a pic of the sweater in use, I know we'd love that too. :) Thanks for the suggestion on the yarn. I'll ask her mom about wool.

  • Just make sure the superwash wool is Merino and there would be no problem for your granddaughter, unless she a highly allergic person. I'm very sensitive to wool, makes me itch like mad when next to my skin. however, I can wear Merino wool right next to my skin and have NO problems whatsoever. That's another reason they use it for socks a lot. Who wants itchy feet? LOL

  • i had nerves when i brought my dogs in ( i am a pit bull mom of 2 ) cause i have 2 cats... but neither time they have not had a problem at all. though my fluffy cat, framboise, was not fond of me bringing more dogs ;)

i just checked out carson/jakes pic, what a cutie pie!

    xoexo

  • I was hoping you would comment, your animals always seem so happy together! Because of Jakes shorter stature I think the cats SHOULD be less intimidated. We'll just have to see. I think they will all love each other... but then I believe in unicorns and dragons! ;-)

  • my cats are aok with the dogs. it was the dogs that i had to be cautious of, we had LOTS of meeting sessions before i brought our naughty little crash home. i love pits but it is responsible to make sure every one gets along. they are too big a dog for me to bring home and find that they dislike eachother.

matter o fact fancy LOVES framboise (my fluffy cat) she has spent the past year and a half trying to get her affections :) framboise has no use for the dogs though

    cant wait to see jake

  • at home with yall!

    xoexo

  • As a therapy dog I expect he will be fine with the cats. The cats on the other hand may have issues. Room swapping I hear is one way to introduce new animals.

  • The cats tolerate the dog where we are living now, so I think they will be more freaked out in general by the new house. The only problem with room swapping is we have no traditional rooms with doors except the two bathrooms and the pantry. That's the problem with an open floor plan! ;-) I did read that you can switch bedding around and give the cats something Jake has slept on and vice versa. Thanks for the help. You know you will be updated on the progress!

  • 10min 55sec is a vloglette!!! ;-D

We'll probably wind up filming/posting more when we're watching less...

  • I warned you I was challenged by the Spacetime Contimuum! Just think what would happen if YT would let me post longer vids!

  • Ah, hope your cold gets better soon. Carson is good but I like Jake!! That is really young to have gotten his Champion title! Wow!! I say bring them all in at once, so no one feels like anyone is intruding! Sounds like you are getting one gem of a dog! You are so lucky and Jake is lucky to be getting you and Rafe! Oh Debbie, that sweater is so cute. Your granddaughter will just love it! Love the elephants on there! Feel better soon - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! xoxo Judy

  • Thanks, Judy! Hope your Holiday Season is wonderful too! Yes, he really is the perfect dog for us, I can't wait for my granddaughter to see him. When I was up before Thanksgiving she tried on the vest part of the sweater and I measured her arms so I would know they fit. She'll love it.

I ordered stainless steel dog bowls with his name on them, so I guess I made the commitment to using the name Jake! LOL

  • I've done the zoom thing so many times. It's irritating. Anyway, you won my trivia contest. Congrats. I will make a video about it as soon as I feel better (I, too, am sick). I will show what you won, and if you want them, then you can private message me your address if you are not afraid to do that kind of thing.

  • Yay! Thanks, Bob! It's been driving me crazy as to which two I missed, or more importantly, what the correct answers were! I know I missed #2, and #11? I think. Can't wait for the vid to see what I won! ;-)
