  • i like mutations better than odelay

  • Lord only knows that this i s the jam.......I need t o get me some pants.....brb

  • Love Odelay.

  • You are Beck best album.

  • c'mon... lets ALL hula naked to this song.

  • AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

  • Do the hotdog dance!

  • Guys, I hate to disagree here, because I LOVE Odelay. But Midnite Vultures is Beck's best album.

    Hands down.

  • today i found out that beck is extremely addictive

  • @hilliuno

    amen brotha

one should always eat at taco beck

  • Beck

  • The basic Beck 'thing' is cleverly mocking the world as we know it , and putting it to a good melody. The other 'thing' is, he knocks-around w/ talented people who feed each-other to generate something substantial. Basically, If you loose your youthfulness, you become stagnant and irrelevant.

  • I've seen a lot of comments on YT regarding Beck's religious choices. and I just have one question...

What does it matter what his religion is? I just like to listen to his music.

  • The part were he keeps saying odelay, I could listen to for hours honestly. lol

  • pavement

  • it's a well known fact that the animal on the cover is the son of the actor appearing on the Pearl Jam 'Vs.' cover

  • Awesome song :) My Japanese teacher played this for us at the end of the class last week.

  • Fuck I like this song

  • this album got me through grade 12

  • yo what is that song for the first 3 seconds i want that shit so bad

  • @deitchy87 k, i looked it up on whosampled & in the booklet and it says: mike millius - lookout for lucy

  • @deitchy87

It's a sample from the opening of 'Lookout for Lucy' from the 1969 album 'Desperado' by folk/rock artist Mike Millius. I just picked up the vinyl this weekend......good luck!

  • I love all of Beck's music. He's just so awesome....

  • I like this and Mellow Gold, reminds me of Paleface (Beck's old roommate) mixed with Ween, don't really like anything past these two, but holy hell, what a damn good album I can never forget

  • great song his best album to listen to back to back

  • Beck is one of my three favorite artists of all-time along with Guns 'N' Roses and Toots and the Maytals. I still vividly remember being an obsessed Beck fan as a junior in high school when this album came out, going to the store and buying it on its release date, and immediately falling in love with the album - especially this song - and running to my brother's room like a giddy little school boy, and playing this song over and over for him. I felt like Dean Moriarty from "On the Road".

  • i dont see how anybody can be disapointed by guero, its one of his best's in my opion

  • Odelay makes me happy, at least most of the songs... This one included. Some make me cry. It makes me want to move fast too! In any case it makes me feel. With his newer music, I am glad he is enjoying making it, but it isn't my style.

I do like Mellow Gold as well.

  • ok, gotta prepare myself for all the thumb downs i'm gonna get...I think this album is overrated to a certain extent. a large part of each song is a good song covered with noise, distortion, and adorned with sound effects. they lyrics make little, if any sense. i'm a huge Beck fan, i just like his more polished and structured songs. my favorite albums are Sea Change, The Information, and Mutations. I'm so glad he matured out of this noise, hip-hopping beat, random sound effects phase.

  • @punkguyrich you're crazy!!!!!!!! odelay is what i really call ART, and every beck album is ART, except probably by the information and midnite vultures, they were good albums, but they were very different to beck's good music... and i don't know why there's not a lot of people who recognizes that guero is an awesome album

  • going back to Huston... to get me some pants...

    god Beck is great.

  • @creamg456 Modern Guilt in no way disappointed me. I was disappointed with The Information and Guero, and I for sure thought Modern was going to just fall into mediocracy. The first 5 songs are some of the best work Beck had done to date in my opinion!

  • i have guero, modern guilt and mutations, and the best is guero out of the three

  • @ManiaKattaK you obviously need odelay.

  • @purplehaze2250 i do. im getting it next

  • @ManiaKattaK kudos!

  • @purplehaze2250

i have it now, it's alright i guess.

  • @ManiaKattaK aww only alright

  • @purplehaze2250

i just prefer midnite vultures and the information, for some reason.

  • but in fact I turned out to be not much good on a tennis court

  • story of my life

  • I agree with bake6667

some real music for a change

  • a reason to live

  • At the beggaring they sample Mike Millius. Look Out For Lucy. You can find it on my channel. I bought the LP.

  • Love Odelay, came out when i first move to LA and this was the perfect soundtrack for it at the time.

  • Best album of 1996

  • best album of 90's

  • maybe. this or pinkerton. its a toss up

  • Comment removed

  • wow. these songs like, when i first listen to them, they suck. then i listen again, and theyre amazing. coooool

  • welcome to the new age!

  • Mellow Gold and Odelay I would indeed rate the albums to come back to after listening to his later stuff, it has some of his more original humor.

  • nenhum brasileiro comenta, bom, nao e pagode ou sertanojo, ta explicado.

  • ya one foot in the grave is awesome

  • dont forget one foot in the grave,a truly great album

  • Modern Guilt is short and weird, admittedly, and i didnt really like it at first either, but it grew on me. I like all beck just about equally, Modern Guilt, Guero, Odelay. Sea Change; they are all so different and unique, innovative ideas.

  • u hardcore beck fans need to be a bit more realistic when it comes to his albumography. yeah i really want to jam out to a bunch of sound effects... beck writes great f*****g songs everyone seems to like his stupid softie indie crap albums. Odelay is the best in my opinion. P.S. The Information is my second favorite. so go take music theory again and realize why Beck got a little sick of turning nobs on his Korg.

  • wow. at least that made sense.

  • @multivitamins4all

i gotta say that i love this album. i do have stereopathedic soul manure and its good but its a little strange. but i love beck non the less. all of his stuff.

  • that is the best comment i have ever read!!!!

  • @SammyRaiGuy Odelay is pretty fantastic. I would put it head to head in creativity and musical substance vs. most any other alt rock album. Some contenders would be Pablo Honey, Bosanova, Think Tank (Blur)

  • @SammyRaiGuy

Who's complaining about what? I'm too lazy to look for comments. :P

Also, I need to get me some pants, too...

    :(

  • @SammyRaiGuy I get it man! And I happen to agree with your choices for 1st and 2nd! I'm loving Mutations too!!! You've got great sense(s)

  • @SammyRaiGuy i agree my favorite beck album by far .. love this one..

  • @SammyRaiGuy this was the last album I listened to/enjoyed by Beck. Stereopathetic Soul Manure was also awesome.

  • Odelay is Becks best album. And deserves to be put in the classic album list. I heard it with in the first week of it's release flying in a plane and knew then it was a masterpiece by the time I landed. His other albums are very good. He likes change and that is good. Keeps you guessing. But I still come back to Odelay.

  • @maximum1954 .......very wrong buddy, did you miss Mellow

Gold (and that's only on the mainstream).......don"t get me wrong, this album is one of my fav's but Beck was spreading his awesomeness around way before Odelay

  • I love all his other albums too,but odelay is his best work, damn good classic stuff.

  • I'll admit I was a little disappointed too, but it was still a good album. It doesn't even come close to some of his other records. I actually have not had the chance to listen to Stereopathetic, but I just ordered it a couple days ago, am very excited to listen! I'll admit though, Odelay is my favorite by Beck, perhaps even my favorite album of all time

  • "Odelay" is truly great. It seems to be about... a more positive life. It's not perfect, but then it isn't all dark and sad. "Mellow Gold" is infected with sadness and sickness and addiction. Even the chronicling of his big break is tainted with depression ("Pay No Mind".) For all that, there is plenty of humor ("Motherfucker", "Nightmare Hippie Girl"). At any rate, "Odelay" feels like a view of life from street

  • Mellow gold was good to drink alone to,odelay was good for drinking alone,or with company!

  • @multivitamins4all

What did you think of Stereo? Satan gave me a Taco was my fav on that one. lol

  • One of Beck's best songs ever written. It's hard to appreciate Beck without his 2 best albums: "Mellow Gold" (a folk/psychedelic/rap masterpiece), and his 3-time Grammy-winning album "Odelay!" (everything from Mellow Gold but catchier, his true hit album). Country, funk, rock, rap, psychedelic (i.e. "Derelict')--you name it. Beck does it all.

  • Houston does have some great pants

  • my favorite beck song ever... so awesome

  • I love it!! lord only knows!!!

  • Damn, I remember havin to pack my shit and move from San Diego to Barstow for a short stint and only having this album on cassette to keep me company...Great fuckin album!

  • my favorite beck album. one of the best albums of all time.

  • agreed

  • Beck is a music genius!

He has never disappointed me with his albums and songs, specially with the outstanding Odelay. Best antifolk album ever!

  • Do you still feel the same way after The Information and Modern Guilt?

I miss Odelay times, this is incredible.

  • i think modern guilt is the best beck record since mutations.

but odelay was maybe the best record of the 90's(maybe im nostalgic)

  • awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

  • odelay just might be the greatest album ever made

  • agreed 100%

  • @RazzmatazzCrayon doesn't have TDNDS tho.

  • cuz lord only knows its getting late our senses our gone lol but i really do like beck alot

  • As a native Houstonian, I have always been keenly aware of the city's secret reputation of "Pant Capitol of The Modern World". So I was not surprised Beck was headed back there to get some, but the fact he was taking his hip Hot Dog Dance along with him...brilliant.

  • here, here. agreement to you sent by fellow houstonian and pants-wearer.

  • "Going back to houston

To get me some pants..... " that has always sound almost poetic to me for some reason, a strong image that, being from Argentina reminds me of driving to the airport in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut.

  • It doesn't matter what the hell he says. It is completely irrevelent to the song or what the song is about, in fact, I'm sure he mumbled he speech on purpose to make us use our imagination; he does the same exact thing on "Girl". Using free expression lyrics is what Beck is about, it's who Beck is, it's why we all love and respect him and his music. If you can't deal with that, then that is a personal fault that you need to work out in counseling. Good luck buttercup.

  • Genius

  • orale! has many meanings

  • Awesome song, awesome album.
