I broke the clip that holds the ribbon on for the blu ray player where it connects to the board. Is there any hope now for my bluray player? can I modify it somehow or will it still work if it just sits in there?

@Scoeas1982 I had they same problem today with my 80g ps3 and I was talkin to a friend on there and he said it might of been to many downloads so I went and deleted all my downloads and put the ps3 on it's side like you said it should go so the heat will go out on top of the ps3 and I cleand the vents and played a game and it hasn't done the red light yet befor i couldn't make it a whole match on black ops

@chuppychup06 you can blow it with a compressor through the vents but the best thing to do is to take it apart and clean it top to bottom let me know if you need any help.

@scoeas1982 one thing I noticed too was after the rlod came on, i read a tip about holding one's finger on the eject button as you power on the system from the back switch...which forces the fan to max speed. I wish i'd have done this back in the day as it blew out a TON of dirt.

thanks for forgetting to tell us about the screws on the back until anyone pausing and doing this step by step didnt know. I totally pulled the fan off, which you say dont do but then realize you forgot 2 steps. Just rerecord the video, or edit it in proper order. Thanks for one of the most comprehensive i have found but not totally complete.

Cont. Heat just to absolutely make sure I got the flux everywhere I possibly could. This absolutely positvley 100% works and for those of you who say it doesn't its one of two scenarios. 1 not enough flux/ not taking your time to do it right or 2 your board has gotten so hot to the point of no return. Again the simplest and most correct way to fix this issue with the first gen ps3s just take your time ansd watch the videos 2 or 3 times if necessary as I said before I bought this system for 50

Cont. The time to do it right it will work I've been puttin this one through the paces since I did the reflow. For the past five hours and not a problem just remember like he says these first gen ps3s need to be on end for good air flow to prevent overheating like it did in the first place. I pumped the flux pen quite a bit not gonna lie got that stuff everywhere just to be sure. I even fluxed it again before I heated the cpu and vga side of the board after I had already hit the other side with

@cornmeal49 dude its cake scoeas1982 makes this seem actcually harder than it is common. sense is really all that's needed besides the reflow process itself if necessary label stuff as it comes apart or take pictures. This part of the process is nothin. But make sure you follow his instructions to the "t" during videos 5 through 7 I believe it is. I bought a ps3 after mine was stolen two years ago. I paid 50 bucks for this one since it wasn't working as long as you have the rlod and you take
