  • Not my normal genre of music i listen to but this is a nice track! :)

  • Susanna...Beautiful vocals... Gorgeous on the eye and she plays a RICKENBACKER! What's not too love?

  • Matthew Sweet ate the rest of The Bangles.

  • OK--I'll say it--she is the most fuckable wench in the history of mankind

  • @princeton7302 GO AND WASH YOUR MOUTH; dirty idiot!!! - your site is being reported to admin...

  • I love the familiar quaver of her voice. It's so iconic.

  • Oh and I forgot to mention that she is a better singer now than she was then.

  • Let's face it folks. This woman in her late 40s early 50s is much hotter than when she was in her 20s and 30s. And she was smokin' then.

  • Dear MikeInStartup. Yep, what you just said. I can't add to that. Well done. And bigegg7170. Same goes for you. Great version of the song and what a stunner that Susanna Hoffs is.

  • Talented woman. And hottest milf - ever.

  • if the mooslum world had a susanna hoffs, we would not be having a war on terror.

  • Now I understand why my daughter loved MS years ago- great harmony on a beautiful song and who cares about their weight- its all beautiful!

  • Beautiful song, sang by a beautiful lady with a great voice

  • The sexiest voice ever.

  • That, my friends is what I call "Professional". What a fantastic cover. Swear I hear a little Bonnie Tyler in Susannas raspy parts of the song. WOW!

  • There should be a law against those sideways glances. They were dangerous when she was younger, now they're outright deadly. Hearts skipping beats all over the world.

  • Damn, she looks good for 52. I like the rasp in her voice. Mathew Sweet, on the other hand, is a different story. That dude looks like he inhaled a 747. What the hell happened to him? Is he ill or something?

  • sorry Susanna but Linda owns this song!!!!

  • @amsterdamkim Actually, I think Mike Nesmith from The Monkeys owns this song :)

I've never heard any singer perform this song the same as any other one, however. Comparing Susanna Hoff's version with Linda Ronstadt's is as unfair as comparing Nesmith's with either.

  • @glenrkat yeah Nesmith wrote this but what i ment was that LR sings it better than anyone else on the planet only my opinion off course ;)

  • Ti amo Signora Hoffs !!

  • I love this girl...Mrs. Hoff is an angel :)

  • AMO A ESTA MUJER UNA VOZ HERMOSA UNA MUJER INCREIBLEMENTE BELLA Y QUE CANCION .

  • She's so freakin' gorgeous!!!!!!!

  • Greatest thing Michael Nesmith's ever done, next to playing the lead to "Valerie" ! (IMHO) Had a crush on LR when the song came out and LOVE Susanna Hoffs to this day! (no, honestly... Really! When "All Over The Place" came out, Bangles blew me away!) Great music! Thanks for posting !

  • los que te lleva ahacer el axe

  • this is heavenly

  • Sweet

  • oh man...this rendition is wicked...i'm 33 & I think I've had a crush on this woman since I was 5 years old

  • I prefer Linda Ronstadt... (: and I don't care if someone answers back (ñah, ñah)

  • @JPandCo

I also prefer Linda Ronstadt, but this version is pretty good also.

  • She is such a babe!!!

  • Albinomountainelk

what a lucky guy Matthew sweet is to find someone as beautiful talented and one of a kind like u Susanna hoffs, you keep on following your heart with singing those old songs because you have a voice of heavens light! I still have fallen in love with u since I first saw and heard that voice of beauty!

  • 0:23, Ah the merest hint of a smile and the look she gave, when she sang "everytime you make eyes at me." Oh Susanna, 25 years since I first fell in love with you, my heart is still yours (but not in a creepy stalkery way)..

  • You haven't seen anything until you have seen this girl in the video where she has white panties and tee shirts looking at herself in the mirror. To die for.

  • Nothing to fault with this. Simply perfect. With the emphasis on simple.

  • still a doll at 50...

  • she is still hot, hotter than in her youth. Rock on hoffs x

  • It could just be me (maybe I've gone weird, or something), but this one outdid Stone Pony.

  • Why is Matt trying his best to look like a truck driver? He was once a true American Idol!

  • Holy christ! What the hell happened to Sweet? He's enormous. Damn, that's doesn't look like normal weight gain. He's bloated. Medication, perhaps? He was a rail just a few yrs ago. Great cover, nevertheless

  • sooooooooooooooooo sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • Listen to "And your bird can sing" also...sounds very good in Hoffs voice also. I didn't like "Monday, Monday" nor, "Warmth of.." since they sound almost the same as the originals.

  • check their version to Warmth Of The Sun. hoffs only sing small part of the song but that's enough to make it great song

  • Nice song, but when did Matthew Sweet become Meatloaf?

  • she has a sweet voice....this song by the sone ponys has made me shed a tear as a kid its so sad....and great......... Thanks - GB

  • Reminds a boomer of a college girl with a rasp in her voice from too much partying cooing in your ear at a loud college party which makes you brain short circuit and the hair on the back of your neck stand up

  • i like you susanna......

  • what a voice! even better than linda!!!

  • This (the original) is actually the song that made me become a musician. Written my Mike Nesmith of The Monkees.

  • She has the same young voice; age coming on....also listen to her "relative" here on the YouTube - Ofra Haza

    ed

  • jayash76 is spot on,.. plus sometimes a song you only thought of as OK, when covered slightly different makes you think wow i love it!

  • Nice job by Susanna, but I like Linda's version.

  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • 14 people dance to a diff. drum lol

  • My god...she is so very beautiful.

The song too for that matter

  • Apparently Matthew Sweet ate the rest of the Bangles, man did he blow up!

  • @NorthsideBill Oh man........thanks for the belly laugh( no pun intended).......

  • Good genes

  • I love her voice; I love the rasp. I love her hair and eyes, especially the sideway glances. I love the set, the chairs; I love her posture, her short dress, her legs and the placement of her hands. I love the instrumentation and Matthew’s backup. Other than that it was just O.K.

  • @MikeInStartup Awesome comment!

  • @MikeInStartup

    You forgot her hair...

  • oh...my..GOD!!!!

  • A gorgeous cover of a song I love. Nicely done.

  • Fulham for ever....and then i here her voice and then i think of mitchell and then gera..joy

    coyw

  • i dont know how they can play in tune sitting next to susannah,id be all thumbs..

  • they both have such greta voices,,,the shame of it is that they over produced the two cover albums. this is far better

  • @Nihistlmp the song is actually written by a man, Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. So it's actually about a dickslinger, not a whore. But yes, still a childish dickslinger

  • That was pure class, really liked that version of that song, I never realised Susanna was that good a singer, I ended up buying two of her solo albums because of seeing some of her work on YouTube. I'll check out her work with Sweet aswell, they make a good team. You can't beat raw talent and she definitely has it, she still looks lovely.

  • Great song! Susanna is like a fine wine. Better with age. Both in vocals and beauty. Watch, listen, enjoy....

  • Better with age... sometimes it just happens!

  • Susanna is a joy in every sense, I just can't get over it. Wow

  • Sussana Hoffs' voice is incredible and she's still hot

  • Susanna is awesome !! love that voice......

  • I could be the wife you left for Susanna - but I have news for you my husband - I would leave YOU for her. I am totally obsessed with Susanna.

  • Hoffs recorded a cover of the Oingo Boingo song "We Close Our Eyes" for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer soundtrack.

  • If reincarnation exists, then I want to come back as Suzanna's chair!

  • Matthew is doing some really nice harmony singing on this one. And the fellow playing lead- who is it?- plays some very tasty fills.

And, of course, Susanah Hoffs is a godess- plain and simple.

  • who is the other guitarist?

  • It's been awhile, but what happened to Matthew Sweet? He looks like Michael Moore now! LOL :P He still rocks though. Love this rendition.

  • can't believe I got wood over a 50 yr old broad ... but I did!

  • @flowerdrop1

Dude, I'm with you on how beautiful Susanna is, but couldn't you have put it more elegantly? She's beautiful as opposed to just being "hot".

  • It's Susanna time for a major come back. Her voice is unique.rock and roll forever

  • @aldape69

good news dude. The Bangles are touring. Saw them this weekend.

    and she still rocks.

  • esta musica e linda e a susanna e maravilhosa esta de parabens

  • Just love this song .........and Susanna...sorry ..lol

  • wow

  • wow.

i remember the first time i heard this tune by nesmith almost 40 years ago.

this is certainly the best rendition i've heard. susanna's voice gives it an emotional side previously touched. simply wonderful.

sweet has a real knack of keeping true to his style and this match should be a lot more "chart" successful.

  • @MrSkeeterdoo Interesting comments. I largely agree.

How do you compare this version to Linda Rondstadt's with the Stone Ponys?

  • I love Suzanna's voice. Reminds me of Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart. Great version of LInda Ronstadt's song...

  • i am amazed how good she looks and her face isnt tight like shes had any work done. we guys who grew up in the 80s always loved her and that one look she gave in the walk like an egyptian video. lol. voice sounds so real here: not overproduced and 'perfect" like most you hear. the human voice isnt perfect! when they do that in the studio it strips the soul out of the song.

  • I like it alot Susanna!

  • Why does she look so pained?

  • i can't correctly express how beautiful she is. now in her 50s, she looks and sings better than any young girl i can even remember. this song is much more than completely perfect. this woman is more mesmerizing now than at the height of her fame in the 80s. jay roach is a lucky luckbag.

  • Suzy and Matt, also known as the supermodel and the truck driver.

  • @bagman817 That was the first thing I thought when I saw this video: So nice of Matthew to dress up for the shoot.

  • Still hot as ever!

  • The older she gets the better her voice becomes. It is like fine wine - the older the better. ;-)

And she is probalbly one of the best looking 50-year-old ladies I know.

  • @Hannibu 51

  • @dunbunter Are you serious? She looks 27.

  • @dashofchutmeg : Of course I'm serious, she's 51 this year 2010. At that time 2007 she was 48. But remember it's a tv-scene. She surely had som makeup.

  • My God what a set of pipes she has.

  • "a boy who wants to love only me..."

    Susanna, CALL ME !

  • Halelujah! My God, that`s what I call a hot rockin` mama! Stunning and intense performance. Absolutely great! Must get that record!

  • she is fifty how good does she look?

  • how beautiful is she still? I remember as a kid having a crush on her in the bangles. Love the song too, very beautiful voice still a beautiful song too.

  • the version with linda ronstadt has always been one of my favourite songs this version is right up there- amazing

  • She's just a beautiful as she always was... and still has the same voice she had as a young girl. It's amazing...

  • Does anybody know where I can sign up to be alerted when these two go on tour again? I see they'll be in Japan next week, and I missed them last fall here in the US!

  • @sbubbb sign up on facebook Sid and Susie and search on youtube for Different Drum Regent for another version of this song.

  • As far as I know she has always had that rasp in the voice. Its what makes it special. I belive all the songs by Susanna and the Bangles for that matter would be much less interesting if the rasp wasnt there.

  • the lovely Susanna has the perfect voice for this song. Hottt is simply an understatment for this lady. I love the rasp in her voice.

  • matthew and suzzie are great friends and musical collaborators. get over it jealous folks.

  • fabulous cover of a fabulous song. Susanna & Matthew's voices work so well together. They are both 2 of the most amazing under rated singers. and Matthew's weight is a medical condition, so back the motherfuck offa him. 100% fun is one of the best power pop records ever

  • still waiting on my marriage proposal I sent in 1984 when you mailed me the autographed Bangles photo.

  • You know what's cool? Susanna looks her age. So refreshing. She's gorgeous! And what a great spin on an old favorite song.

  • Maybe Matthews next duet can be with Jenny Craig?

  • @putridsneakers

    spot on!

  • you know what ... if you had half the sweetness of this man, you'd know when to not disclose your rotten inner nature ... totally unnecessary remark. You think his music is lessened by his weight? Ridiculous observation.

  • lol...

  • Cant keep my eyes off of her......

  • This song is by Nesmith of the Monkees

  • oh sussana,

danks for your lyricks, and your voice

    peer

  • Well what can I say, Susanna that was simply beautiful girl. The understanding that a singer needs to possess with the song that they are singing is fundamental and it is crystal that you have this fine tuned to perfection. The ability to move the listener physically and emotionally is not within everybody's ability, but you possess barrel loads of it.

Incidently your songs with the Bangles really had a quality to them nobody else possessed at the time and you will be remembered for that.X

  • My God, I never knew of this stunning version of this old favorite. This track is simply a blessing. And how fun that she kept her amazing beauty so us old fellows can still have a crush on her. - - Mel C. Thompson.

  • She's very cute...and a nice cover but it pales next to Ronstadt's. I'm sure Susanna would say the same.

  • damn she's still hot.

  • Listening to this eases the blow of Smalling's o.g on the 28th...but only just...what a songstress this beautiful lady is.

    viva susanna viva roy hodgson

    coyw

  • So schön,Susanna hat eine klasse Stimme !!!!!!!!

  • What can you say - Susanna Hoffs the most beautiful woman in the world.

  • One poster says the tad of rasp in her voice isn't technically perfect. Not sure I can agree. The rasp is surely very endearing and, in my opinion, perfectly within the theme of the song itself.

  • @figgskzoo

Yep. It just shows that this track wasn't beaten to death with Pro Tools and pitch correction.

  • @figgskzoo Plus, that's just what you're gonna get from a live performance. Also, if you want a "technically perfect" performance, why would you listen to anything other than the original Ronstadt? That's an impossible standard to meet so might as well do it different.

  • @jayash76 - it's a great cover - not too sure what anyone can honestly find wrong with it. Sweet's backup is super-solid and Susanna is, well....you know - stunning.

  • @figgskzoo LOLWUT? How many records has that poster sold?

  • @figgskzoo The rasp may not be technically perfect, but sounds 'cn fantastic, perfect, agreat song by Vanessa Amorosi.

  • That is a sweet version, it beggers belief that Susanna Hoffs is 50.

The lemonheads do a great cover of this song also.

  • I do believe this song was originally written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees.

  • Susanna has the sexiest eyes ever! Her collaboration with Matthew Sweet has given new life to some great tunes! Even though she is almost ten years older (only a by couple of days), I would have loved her forever. I still carry a torch from afar!

  • saw them the other night Sue is still amazing

  • Susanna Hoffs - besides being a fine singer - has the cutest "white of the eyes" I have ever seen.

  • J'adore cette chanson

La version acoustique est tres bien

  • Ah, well, as it always goes, two sons, and happily married.

  • There is no hotter 50 year old!! She could have me wrapped around her little finger, or whatever else she wants. I love her! Make me your man-bitch Suzanna...

  • She's very pretty for her age and a great singer and musician.

  • She's still hot and she's 50-years-old! Most women her age look like shit, but she's smoking.

  • Simply the best. Wish I could get her to sing one of my original country songs. Susanna could rock the Nashville scene too!!!

  • How Nashville? Emmylou? Melora Zager? Dolly? Go wild with it.

  • "Susanna" a la Reba, Dolly, Martina, Tonya, Carrie, Taylor, Loretta, Patsy, Faith, Shania, Lee Ann, LeAnn, Jo Dee, June, Tammy, Connie, Barbara, and Emmylou. Susanna is right there in my mind and would KO country radio!!!!!

  • Yhe original is NOT always the best. Obviously here that proves right.

  • heck, do all of songs that The Stone Poneys' recorded. And "Poor Boy" by Casey Kelley, and ""Jesse James" by Dana Cooper.

  • Saw them do this last night in Chicago, truly a fun show, Susi is amazing.

  • Love this.

  • Amazingly, this ain't bad.

  • Susanna,do Blue Bayou for me...your voice has matured to perfection, and your looks as always...lovely

  • Susanna Hoffs is 50 years old and looks unbelievably amazing for her age.

  • Beautiful version. Just saw them do this live at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. What a great show!

  • I just left my wife and children to be with Susanna. Susanna if you're reading these posts...I love you and I'm waiting at the McDonalds on 32nd street for you.

  • I'm cracking up here!

  • @BrianIam2

    Best comment ever,,,very funny...

  • @BrianIam2 Hahahahahaha, classic mate....lol I hope she answers. :D

  • @BrianIam2

I commend you on your excellent taste in women...

  • @BrianIam2

    That's the spirit!!

  • @BrianIam2 Sorry man, but I saw her first. I'm waiting on the corner of A street and Mission! Aaron.

  • @BrianIam2 This song is about being an irresponsible and childish whore, much like a man who leaves his wife and children for a slut.

  • Who is the second guitarist, playing opposite Matthew Sweet?

  • Susanna is awesome with mathew sandwich

  • Nez's song and Hoffs have gained additional beauty as the years have gone by.

  • I love the little bit of a rasp she has on this. It's not technically perfect, but it adds a wonderful bit of vunerability and humanity to the song, and gives it a much different feeling from the Linda Rondstadt and Stone Poneys version from the Sixteenth Century or whenever that was recorded.

  • Oh, Susanna!

  • What a great rendition of a classic..beautiful voice beautiful woman -I'm hooked on the simplicity of this video
