  • @cradlenazi We know how to have a good time.

  • americans... thats all i can say

  • Thanks Filip! We received the bottle from an old friend who had three of them. He told us he bought them in 1979. Being the head master at a local Belgiun school, he is a pretty reliable source.

As far as sourness goes, there wasn't any. It did have a bit of an oaky taste but nothing really substantial.

  • @Mattjerz

Thanks alot for this additional information. Not sour, but still somewhat oaky. Wow, that sounds great !

    Wish i could've sampled some too :(

    Cheers,

    Filip

  • Actually the beer was pretty amazing still after all that time. And no we weren't wasted...just excited. We toured Westy last summer with our Belgiun brothers and were given this bottle with explicit instructions to drink it.

What little carbonation was left disappeared after the cap was taken off. But as flat as the beer was it was actually very amazing. It had a different taste then its modern brother with very strong caramel tones. It made the Westmalle we shared after seem flavorless.

Hi ! Much thanks for replying !!

    I have some questions.

How did you know this beer was exactly 31 years old?

Can you reveal if the beer had some sourness in flavour and some wood in flavour too ?

It's interesting info because before 1969 the abbey wood aged their beers, resulting into meinly lactic sour beers.

    THANKS

    cheers,

BTW: It's quite an exciting movie!!

    Filip

  • How did this beer actually taste ?

  • cool. u guys sound wasted before drinking

  • @getsomeyeah duh, u have to be a fool or be wasted to drink 31 year old beer -_-

  • @Jappermenu why? the high abv content preserves the beer for decades not unlike fine wines. You have no idea obviously.
