  • We need to bring back manufacturing in America. We need more made in america and less made in china or other countries.

  • Arkinight and tarossi400 both of you are on extremes of a very valid arguement. It is a simple but complex issue as all things become with time. It is both, power in any system are just indirect ways to moblize and manipulate one true power people power. Goverments come from people, so yes, so government officials did hitch a ride or converted to keep power. The ones in power before it was lost in this form fought to keep power. Simple, I can be more detailed but it will then become a book.

  • That was an extremely convoluted explanation, I don't even see any point to what you said.

  • lol, it was a direct response to the argument you and tarossi400 were having but then I guess your not even aware of what your writing at all. It will become clear when your stop looking through a narrow tube. Its okay that when you feel attacked you attack back, however this reaction will overtime work against you in live. Good luck.

  • Attacked? No, you just aren't making much sense, either in your previous response or in this one. It's really difficult to make out what you're saying, sorry if that's hard to accept.

  • I sincerely wish you the best in school and in life pursuits. By gaining in understanding you will by pass the eternal threat of ignorance and arrogance. Good luck

  • Arrogance? You mean like telling others what they are with absolute certainty?

"Arkinight and tarossi400 both of you are on extremes of a very valid arguement."

Really? We are? Why? Because you say so?

Ignorance? So we are ignorant, but Ryukikon has got it figured out. Well that certainly is not arrogant of you, because I'm sure you are that smart that you know what both of us meant, but only that you can't "be more detailed but it will then become a book", right?

Take a look in the mirror.

  • Im unemployed and i will never have a job (J.ust O.ver B.roke) ever again.

I retired at 23... thank goodness. You should find your way like i did. If you need help, hit my page up.

Stop looking forward to these low hourly wage jobs that are trying to open up.

  • you guys should start a religion, "the libertarian invisible hand worshipers"

  • @mikesbodypolitic Worshipers? Really?

  • Yes, they worship a document to an irrational extent(The constitution) and ignore that that document was made by fallible men(deify them in order to make them infallible) and deify Ron Paul as a sort of messiah. The arguments have very little depth but spark anger if questioned, the followers of which litigiously stalk youtube testifying their perspective. It's very much like a religion, and similarly it's followers are people of faith and not logic, only the psuedo logic of religion.

  • mikesbodypolitic, It's a set of rules, and there is a method of changing those rules. It doesn't matter whether the founders were fallible.

I love your holier-than-thou outlook, though.

  • My whole point, constitutionalists fail to appreciate that it is the ability to change a constitution and make it by popular choice that makes it legitimate. The US constitution was not made democratically, it was made by the elite representatives of the 13 colonies, who did not represent the poor the women the Indians or the slaves. It was a document written by elites for elites, prevented from being easily changed by antidemocratic requirements like the 2/3's clauses.

  • If i sound holier than though it's because im responding to the false legitimacy of arguments that use the US constitution as the basis of their thesis as though that meant something profound, like when people say "in Leviticus is says ..." "Jesus said ..." ect, it's a sort of nationalism that tries to sweep out of the way any possibility of people choosing something not original to the constitution through democracy. If i'm righteous, it's populist-righteous, not self-righteous.

  • Thomas Ferguson is great when it comes to Democrat/GOP money sources, but he suggestions for the economy are awful. He seems to think a F.D.R. style approach will solve everything.

  • LOL. I love his reference "It would be like Halloween" while there's a black cat sitting on the fence over his shoulder (you can see it at 4:36 and its feet the rest of the time) staring at them throughout the entire interview. Omen?

  • I'm going to unsub if realnews keeps propagating this garbage. This guy has his head in the sand about the truth.

  • another no nothing libertarian?

  • Did this guy say "we'd be better off stimulating the economy and increasing taxes"? So, print more money, which is a tax, and then tax some more on top of that? If I have to be robbed of more and more of MY money to support a fucking government then I no longer want that government to survive. We all need to start realizing that the citizens of this country are just tax livestock for the people with power and influence.

  • /watch?v=Blm_mb7ADWQ

Almost quoting you exactly, not surprising.

  • In the thousands of years of having some type of government, when has compelling it to do anything actually worked? Did the people want the bailouts and the stimulus? No. Did we want to be in a war in two different places? No. Can you not see the numerous historical examples of a society being destroyed by the very things this douche and you promote?

The government is force and pining for the utopian ideas of collectivism only weaken that culture. A freer society is ALWAYS more successful.

  • "when has compelling it to do anything actually worked?"

    Civil Rights Movement

    Environmental Rights Movement

    Woman's Rights

    Anti-Nuclear Movement

    Third-World Solidarity

    Anti-Apartheid

    Anti-War

Yeah, all of these things were gifts from above and not because of people struggling on the ground to change the society and the institutions of power, or restrain them.

  • Certainly none of them were gifts from the government. Civil, Environmental, and Womens "Rights" didn't come from government, they came from shifting morals in a society the government just hitched a ride. Just as an aside, rights are not granted by government.

    Anti-Nuclear? Seriously!?

Anti-War!!? Are you insane? We live in the most militaristic society ever.

Third World Solidarity? Government aids our corporations in exploiting them.

All governments CAN do, really, is create more obstacles.

  • Sorry, not they didn't "just hitch a ride", they were virulently opposed to them, often violently and certainly with propaganda.

You really show your ignorance with that statement, it pains me to even respond to it.

Just take a look at the military operations of said governments a few decades ago compared with today to see the change, you aren't basing these judgments on reality.

Anti-Nuclear? Yeah, I'm serious, have a look at the legislation and the international treaties - the reality.

  • They sure as hell don't hesitate to take credit for it now, do they? They hitched a ride. Really all they managed to do was point the laws at somebody else, so compelling it to change has not worked. It's still the same ol' controlling govt. only now it needs to expand to make sure everybody follows the new rules.

You can't possibly be suggesting the military isn't used as much today. Compelling the government not to fight wars...FAIL. We're in two wars as we speak. We're at perpetual war.

  • Which means they are responsible for it?

It hasn't worked? Where exactly is your evidence for this? The institutions of power have been massively restrained.

Yeah, take a look at how the wars were fought in Indochina and how they are today. Is there massive saturation bombing of heavily populated areas for instance?

Sorry, your only argument is "we haven't achieved rapid success in everything we've set out to do, therefore we should just give up" - go right ahead, you won't be missed.

  • If I convince a thief to steal from my next door neighbor instead of me, have I compelled the thief to stop stealing? Same with government. If I compel it point its guns at someone besides me, have I really changed anything. For example, civil rights legislation has done nothing but create false equality and resentment. Forcing a company or a school to accept one based on race is as immoral as preventing their employment or education. That is an example of compelling the gov. and failing.

  • We killed millions in Indochina for a decade or more. Is that a success? The US is still bombing people.

The US military budget is quite nearly or bigger than all the rest of the world combined. Does that sound like success? We still have more than enough nukes to lay waste to the planet. Is that successful?

"Is there massive saturation bombing of heavily populated areas for instance?"

Only because it's not currently a useful tactic. It will be done if need be.

  • You're right, it's hopeless. You win.

  • what are you talking about, you hold some values that on a marco level could be true but the rest made no sense when reviewed critically. Even your bulwark argument at the end has no proof.

  • Right because the people with money to tax aren't people with power and influence.. The corporate socialism programs in America gift the wealthy loads of cash to give themselves as bonuses which then get taxed (ie they're not taxed) If you have no money printing more money doesnt effect you since you'll just get paid more (if you dont well then you're employers are exploiting you) if you're middle class and have 1/2 your assets in noncash (eg a home) it has no effect, more and it helps you.

  • I think I might agree with you, but it would help to provide some punctuation. I can't really tell what you're getting at.

  • Sorry, I'm not great with punctuation a lot of the time. I was just trying to explain the way inflation works (as far as printing money being a tax) It's like the estate tax, people that stand to inherit or gift nothing are often the most angry about it, when in reality it's hardly a tax on them. Inflation hurts people with cash assets, basically the ultra-wealthy 1%, everyone with a mortgage should be fine and dandy with inflation. Then again any wealthy that are leveraged love it too.

  • Stop the hemorrhaging of American jobs by TAXING cheap labor offshore.

    DUH!

    Protect your markets STUPID!

  • .Oh such bullshit! The Chinese freakin own us... what the hell is this guy talking about?! What an idiot!!! I'm so disappointed in Real News for giving this guy a platform.

  • What a toll. You cannot monetize debt! Keynesian is sure leading us into middle ages. The US government is monetizing debt for the past 20 years or so! Now, China dont want any more of these monetized-debts from the US, it would be chaos if China would dump all those fake US Dollars back in America. Print and borrow, and taxed peopele to the graves. This is the solutions from Keynesian economists? The caused of the financial crisis and housing market in America was from the over-printing machine

  • "The US government is monetizing debt for the past 20 years or so!"

    -actually try 70+ years.

You obviously do not know what Keynesian economics is.

  • What are you talking about? I wasnt quite know what is the exact the US government were monetizing debts. Also, what in the world that I do not know about Keynesian economics, when in fact monetizing US dollars is the main principle of Keynesian economists. I believe in free-market capitalism, not some stinking Keynesianists that the way to resolve the financial crisis is through propping up funny money from the central bank and rely on by taxing and borrowing. Dats daway you cripple the nation!

  • "Keynesian Economics did not work in the past,.."

-So leading the US and the world into the largest economic growth in history is a failure to you?

  • Through CAPITALISM Not Keynesian theory of PRINTING MORE MONEY that lead us into an economic growth. Look at the value of One dollar bill, it is now worth 4 cents thanks to printing money money!!!

  • Keynesian economics is a type of capitalism. printing more money is a gross oversimplification. Although the US$ has taken a hit, it is worth much more then 4cents.

I really don't think you know what your talking about but just regurgitating conservative talking points. Keynesian economics is what brought us out of the depression and into a period of unprecedented growth. A one track obsession with paying down the debt and national protectionism is what made the depression great.

  • The stimulus failed not because it was too small, but because you can not stimulate an economy merely by spending money because that only creates short term work not sustainable Jobs. You must stimulate SUCCESSFUL private companies who make things who will grow and hire more people. The last place you want to give money to is state government employees as they draw their wages from the private sector tax base increasing the taxes and lowering the quality of life for rest of society.

  • The worst is yet to come. and whoever is in is out, and whoever was in is out too.

  • Great interview. His presented his arguments pretty well. I'd love to see a libertarian/Austrian Economist make a rebuttal!

  • Your right, the stimulus was too small. It would have to be 1.144 Quadrillion to pay off all the toxic derivatives and keep the banks going. And that's 2007 figures.

Democrats are jokers. Let the banks fail, they will never recover with all the toxic derivatives. It's impossible.

Research the depression of the 20's if you want to know how to really sort it out (bet you haven't even heard of such a thing). Seriously, look it up.

  • bloody keynesians

  • Correct me if I am wrong but insolvent means that not only are you broke but you are losing money or owe too much to continue operating

For gov to take tax money and put it into these people hands who are paying themselves and laying off the taxpayer seems like madness

This insanity will go down in the history books as the dumbest pyramid scheme in history

  • Absolutely

  • Stop the visas.

  • what's a T-Bill again?

  • SHUT THE DOOR ON CHINA

WE ALL GO BACK TO WORK TODAY

or we could keep sending jobs overseas and hope for the best

  • "SHUT THE DOOR ON CHINA

WE ALL GO BACK TO WORK TODAY"

sure, and either make a $1.50 a day or pay 10x as much for most household items. You just can't compete with cheap labor. Unless you yourself are willing to work for a lot less or pay a lot more. Which is it that you are willing to do?

  • a tv is made in America for 300 and sells on the shelf for 500- now make it in mexico for 150 it still sells for 500 on the shelf, now make that tv in china for 50 it still sells for 500 on the shelf--------wake up bro the rich got real rich by putting us out of work. SHUT THE DOOR ON CHINA, PUT AMERICA BACK TO WORK, ONLY THE RICH IMPORTERS WILL LOSE OUT

  • How to compare thee, a plate of shit to a bowl of vomit?

LOL! Dems will pay alright. So will the rethugs.

Riddle: what profession pays perks/thefts/salaries so high to cause projectile vomiting in it's enablers?

    American Politics.

(Throw ALL freaks out..don't vote again until the revolution is OVER)

  • GOVERNMENT DOESN'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO HANDOUT THAT IT FIRST DOESN'T TAKE FROM SOMEONE ELSE.

government can not create jobs. only the private sector can.

  • I agree this is the stupidest shit I have seen on the Real News Network.

  • And what about the WPA or all of the public sector jobs that exist? Do you really deny their existence or are you just ignorant of them?

  • I agree. People aren't stupid. They see what's going on and if they see that they've been fucked by the Democrats after they gave them their votes and their full support to usher in change, they will be voted against next time around. I seriously think that if new parties started up, people would throw their votes their way. They don't like what Repubs offer and even stand for and they won't vote for Dems that betrayed them last election, so the time is really ripe for new parties to get votes.

  • If your talking Democrats and republicans then you have no idea what is going on... They are the same.

  • Crap.

  • The real news needs to get real and stop trying to get with the mainstream.

  • Ferguson is 'mainstream'? lol

  • That's what you'd get for dickin' around.

  • this guy is a moron. the only answer is not deficits and govermental job creation. niether are long term solutions both are disasters. then they talk like just printing more money is an answer... we need to make our manufacturing base competive again. period. we need to piss off china. bite the current inflation bullet of them dumping our currency and rebuild our manufacturing base.

  • @twylightsky2007

Incidentally, a weaker currency actually makes it easier to export.

  • Whether a weaker dollar makes exports easier is insignificant at this point.

In case you haven't noticed, the world is dumping the greenback due to wasteful spending spanning over decades, throughout various administrations, both left and right.

It only reached a massive high with Bush and reached an astronomical climax with Obama .... It makes ZERO sense to FINGERF*CK this system into recovery with zero jobs and zero product to show for it.

  • That is such a fallacy. If that were true Zimbabwe would be the exporting kingdom of the world. In fact all countries with weak currencies would doing really well.

You see some of the poorest countries in the world are the ones with the weak currency.

  • stop watching peter schiff and try to get a real education...

  • @FreakishDonQuixote

Peter Schiff would thrash your feeble mind

  • Really? So you won't argue the point, but you will respond just above name calling, and respond in an ad-hominem fashion.

If you did get a real education, I'd ask you to channel debate class rather than kindergarten to tell me why countries that have weak currencies aren't rich..

  • I can't answer you're question, because it starts with a wrong premise and it's stupid to beginn with. You could just as well ask me if a saw is better than a hammer.

  • I have seen peope compare Peter Schiff to a broken clock, but never have I seen him refered to as a feeble mind. I think you should explain what you mean by that

  • Peter Schiff is a feeble mind because the best policy solutions he can think of is to have no policy solutions at all.

  • true, his policy is to follow the creepy invisible hand aka the free market principle, get the govt out of the way of free market.

Not exactly what I would call feeble minded idea

  • Yes, it's retarded as hell.

  • I agree that we need to make our manufacturing competitive again, but there is something wrong with the system where it is possible to hire labor for 20c/day.

Ofc the only way that would happen is to reduce our standard of living. the system needs alot of correction which would hurt many americans. So good luck finding a politician who will do it, as it is we cannot even cut $500b/10yrs off medicare without the opposing side going balistics

  • Standard of living is already decreasing. We're going to have 20% unemployment soon. If you allow those 20% to get jobs that pay less then they will have jobs. Which is still much higher than the zero they bring in now. Actually it will also offset the tax money other working people are paying to keep them afloat.

More people spending less tax money means they also spend more money.

So even allowing people to work at sub minimum wage jobs are good.

  • Agree 100%, minimum wage needs to be repealed. It doesnt make any sense for fast food workers to be making $7/hr when chinese industrial workers make a fraction of that doing more complicated tasks.

This is a global market and such imbalances hurt the manufacturing sector/real economy.

  • yep, china prices also compare really well to americas.

    [ ] You understand economics.

  • you bet your ass. A buick made in China on average sells for $30k and same for a buick made in the USA. The average price for a McD value meal is $3 in china and $4 in the USA. So in a way yes, standard of living and thats about it

  • This guy is really dangerous. Thinking like this will plunge the US into a very long dark age.

  • So just get everyone a job, problem solved....why didnt anyone think of that! this guy is like some kind of genius.

  • Nice suit! Very slick.

  • we need a roosevelt new deal times 3 because the population of the us increased 300% since ww2. we need a job program to help rebuild america's infrastructure and joint venture with russia and china to send men to the moo errr i mean mars, and the secret governments should release the suppresed technology to the world.

  • ask yourself why the stockmarket is going great guns. Who is buying the stocks? It's not all the laid off workers i can guarantee you that. Maybe its because stocks are cheap and rich bankers and politicians are buying them up. Just an idea.

  • Americans are dumb enough to vote in Republican Revolution Part III....This time they'll go in for the kill to destroy Social Security and Medicare....

  • He thinks democrats are gonna be out...well I hope ALL are out. vote out every single incumbent. Start over. They may not get ANYTHING done, but at least they won't do any more harm!

  • Keynesians don't have the answers because their theory predominates Washington thought. Lets hear from the school of Austrian economics for the alternate view.

  • The Real News!?? I just ended my subscription...

  • booo, you just can't face a different perspective. proper stimulus can help, improper stimulus of bailing out banks does not help.

  • Well then can you bail me out? I just lost my job. Hypocrite!

  • the government can bail you out with temporary debt payment freezes, and proper temporary job creation programs until you get back on your feet as long as you live frugally during the period. WW2 mass production of killing weapons is no different from a massive stimulus program.

  • We're onto your UBER PROGRESSIVE slant TheRealNews ... give it up!!

    You're full of CRAP!

Much like "mediamatters4america" (progressive front) and actually 75% of youtube ... we know your progressive/marxist/communist/keynesian/fascist slant!!

Americans will NEVER allow you to succeed!!

GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!!!

  • LOL - You American Patriots truly are a hoot.

Why do you insist on supporting policies that are detrimental to the average working class?

It amazes me how ignorant of your own history that you American Patriots really are. Please feel free to get angry now - I can't wait for your enraged retort. Fun, Fun, Fun!

  • Go ahead DROOL over REAL liberty and freedom!!

I suppose you'd be of the Irish demographic in support of the Lisbon Treaty?

I feel sorry for you ... NOT!!

    BWAHAHAH!

  • No Rage just you have no Idea how aware the mass of the U.S. citizens are becoming aware that the media (big time)and our Dem/Rep same party and have same scheme owned by the international bankers and cfr.,,,They are purpously trying to ruin the country! while glad handing the public...its just a matter of time till people rise up!!!!

  • F&%#TARD

  • You have to understand that a mojority of the people calling themselves patriots are plain ole neocon republicans. They support sending $300/b/year in Iraq but oppose $100b/yr (or 5x that amount) universal healthcare.

They have no principles cos they get all their info from talk radio frauds. Its sad but they are destroying the patriot movemnet and the country.

  • "The stimulus program was far too small, a much larger one is still needed"

    lol

They should print a hundred trillion.... Maybe that should do it.... Heck, why not one quadrillion? print, print, print.....

  • This guy is a complete MORON and/or he's treating the general public and his students like complete MORONS ... This is truly sickening.

His opening statement to explain the widespread rejection of the fascist progressive left by the American people consists of basically ... the people generally blame whoever currently is in power during economic strife.

We all know the REAL reasons behind these events. In the smug elitist brain he truly believes he has, he's placating to the "uneducated".

  • @JMehrman

Say, what type of libertarian are you?

    watch?v=0PaN9M4WwHw#t=0m38s

    Austrian or Rand.

  • To keep within the simple confines of that distinction I would say my heart rests in Rand with a splash of Austrian realism.

    Hehe

  • Nice video recommendation btw!

  • he said 3-4 yrs until america see the light. this means by 2012 there will be no hope in america. stimulas after stimulas go and give it to them idiots because how much deeper will usa be in dept to the world by that year of 2012. will america be out of dept or deeper into it BY 2012? if you guys know we will be deeper into it then WTF!! LET THE FAILING COMPANYS GO UNDER.

  • This guy is nuts, is he suggesting we just keep printing money to solve our problems? Talk about the proverbial kicking the can down the road

Plx The RealNews when are you going to start interviewing Austrian economists? its been all keyens all the time with you guys.

  • @uche007us

Well you pretty much have 2 choices

    1. Jobs Depression

    2. Federal Debt

In short, it's trading a short term problem, for a long term problem

  • True, sometimes I wish I was an old guy cos the way things are going there wont any medicare or social security for US.

The funny thing is that even the stunches opponents of this administration (tea party crowd) are die hard supporters of the socialistic medicare and social security programs, whinning at any suggestions of reduction to both program.

Its going to be a ver interesting 40 yrs with lots of economic drama

  • @uche007us

    Well that's not terribly surprising.

Since they usually aren't against "Government Spending"

    They are against "Democrat Spending"

    greyfalcon. net/ doonsbury.png

    greyfalcon. net/ debt2.png

Or in many cases, they are merely astroturf, funded and organized by corporate lobbyists.

  • The GOP yes ...

People who gather at tea parties, town hall protesters, and the tens of thousands that gathered in DC are neither astroturf nor are they comprised in majority, groups funded and organized by corporate lobbyists.

What you're actually defining is more similar to SEIU and ACORN, except in this case it's worse ... they're WASTING our tax dollars to promote legislation contrary to at least 50% in most nonpartisan polls.

  • Unfortunately we will have to address the long term problem sooner or later. I would prefer sooner rather than later.

The only way we can truly recover is if we return to pure free market principles, vastly cut government size, spending and programs, and weather the bad by working together in our communities, thereby creating incentives for job creators and innovators to set up shop here due to lower taxes and a stronger dollar.

  • Cut government spending, does that include the $1trillion dollar a year in military spending? plus $200 billion plus in aids and military aids to our friends around the world?

  • I'll answer by saying if we were in a fairytale world where islamo-fascist jihaadists, Iran and North Korea did not exist, than absolutely!!

Are you a fan of being blatantly vulnerable to the world?!

    LOL

  • Yea, we have a big govt republican in the house. Keep worrying about the Islamo fascist while they make peace and trade deals with China. Ever ask yourself why is it that they only attack america, israel or american/isreali interests? Also would all this be happeneing if we stayed away from entangling alliances?

We will never militarily defeat Islamo fascist and at the end we will be left with no money and thousands of US soldiers trapped in foreign land with no money to bring them home.

  • Communist much?

  • just like medicare and socialism get rid of that
