Animals are just as threatened by the same old problems (poaching, habitat loss, prey loss, pollution, habitat fragmentation, extinction of other part of their food web, global warming causing further habitat loss etc.) and cloning will do nothing to 'save' them from these. A clone is born in captivity and reintroduction programs have a low success rate and have never been achieved at all in a wide range of species, going to only be useful in captive population.
[cont from below]different, there's still a massive failure rate for every success. Unfortunately only limited funds are allocated to endangered species and the price of one clone would be far better spent on more effective measures.
So please stop the delusion 'oh we can just save the animals by cloning them.'

A clone would be only useful in a few limited situations; say there was only a tiny breeding/captive population of individuals and one died prematurely in some kind of accident, a clone of the lost individual may be produced as a kind of 'replacement' in the breeding/gene pool.

I was interested in the idea of cloning endangered species so I did it as my major research project at university in the subject Cloning. Unfortunately my verdict was that cloning is only of extremely limited usefulness in saving endangered species of animals. Just really, there is so few of them, im sure there is not much that can save them.. If only the hunters would stop the thing what they are doing.. But they dont have anything else in the country so, they go hunting and get a lot of money.
If you clon the species and somehow make the embryo it won't have the skills to survive. Forget cloning, we should just find a way to save their present environment so they can reproduce naturally.
aslo what the guy said is treu there more domesticated, theres great risk that tohose cats loose skills and the ofspring of it isnt able to life in the wild :(

Well thats not entirely true. It all depends on what people believe. To go out and group a bunch of people based on one view is unreasonable. I could consider you for having such an illogical view as being dumb and not having a college degree. Personally I think that if we have caused the downfall of a species then we should be responsible in fixing it.
Nothing is wrong with cloning, an animal dies than you make a copy of it, it makes no difference with animals, I'm not saying people but with animals its fine
Whether or not, it's natural cloning seems like a possible solution for preserving numbers, but it also seems like a bandaid. I think people would take advantage and keep up their habits if
cloning was solely used. Combining it with conservation efforts and awareness might be more effective.

It's an okay backup plan, but as plenty of people have already stated, conservation should be our primary focus.

Cloning will not provide enough genetic diversity to allow a species to flourish

its seams to me that our guns will destroy everithing and the humans will stay alone
when people invent the guns we lost our respect to animals
we start to proof that we are stronger and very cool by kill a strong wild beast and put it in our room sol everyone to see how powerful we are
the people are the meanest thing in this planet

I don't like the idea of cloning an endangered species. It's just doesn't seem natural.

Cloning is cool but is straight up stupid.
There is a reason a species becomes extinct, they cant survive in the conditions.
If they take their DNA, they will not clone them within a few years, so by the time they do the conditions will be even harder for them to adapt to.

Cloning is pointless. A species needs genetic diversity to avoid things like birth defects and disease.

cloning couldn't help, because these would not survive in the wild.

Personally I don't like the idea of cloning an endangered species.
1st we should take all action possible to save & increase the species that are still alive today on our Planet.
If we start cloning I think effords will become less bc people will think we don't have to worry , we can still clone it if it's gone.
