Animals are just as threatened by the same old problems (poaching, habitat loss, prey loss, pollution, habitat fragmentation, extinction of other part of their food web, global warming causing further habitat loss etc.) and cloning will do nothing to 'save' them from these. A clone is born in captivity and reintroduction programs have a low success rate and have never been achieved at all in a wide range of species, going to only be useful in captive population.

Whether or not, it's natural cloning seems like a possible solution for preserving numbers, but it also seems like a bandaid. I think people would take advantage and keep up their habits if

If they take their DNA, they will not clone them within a few years, so by the time they do the conditions will be even harder for them to adapt to.
