how is this game? is like the fight games? the game has an arcade? or a visual novel?

@NEETHERREALM1 It's a fighting game with a gameplay system similar to the Melty Blood series and presentation similar to the Capcom VS series, and made by the same guys who make the Street Fighter series (though the mechanics are much simpler than Street Fighter). It's got versions in arcades (Japan only), PS2 (JP only), and PSP (JP and NA [PSN download only]).

@vc180191 Even after I had let him beat on me for a while (hard to do with the stupid AI that gets confused when you don't attack...) just so he could go into EX mode and regenerate enough health to survive long enough for me to cast it.

@XerBlade I agree. If they made a skill that: 1) takes ages to charge up, while battle usually ends before you can do it 2)Despite that does the same damage as other EX skills

They could've at least make it unblockable. The only reason to charge UBW here is to use non-EX skills that require it or, as a computer does it usually, use UBW chargeup for attack canceling. Doing so it sometimes links two combos together.

@Akikojam You can usually do pretty much the same thing just by hitting X, though, in most situations anyway, and any character can do that....

@cool944 Cuz Archer doesn't want Shirou to become like him, a Counter Guardian that will be summoned only when the World will end and he has to save it by eliminating the cause, in most cases humans and since he wonts to save everyone and not kill anyone it creates some sort of a paradox in the end he was killed by the person he saved and since he was betrayed by his own ideal he doesn't want Shirou to become a "Heroic Spirit" and the only way is to kill him.

The only reason I never use Archer: It's way too hard to actually USE Unlimited Blade Works. So I stick to Lancer.

@XerBlade Archer is the future Shirou when he chooses the path to reach his ideals..

In the routes Shirou's path: Fate = Ideal (Saber ending), Unlimited BladeWorks = Between Ideal and Realism (Rin ending) and Heaven's Feel = Realism (Sakura ending going to Hollow/Ataraxia)

@YukitoOnline Archer is a Shirou who chose to stick to Kiritsugu's ideals over his own when faced with a choice.

Fate is where Shirou never sees that choice, and there is no disparity between his ideals and Kiritsugu's.

UBW is where he is faced with the issue that the ideals he is spouting off are Kiritsugu's and not his own, and decides to ignore the contradictions.

HF is where he is finally faced with that choice and chooses his ideals (True Hero) over Kiritsugu's (Type IV Anti-Hero).

Also, uninstalling the game doesn't reset the play time counter. Unless, of course, you reinstalled on a new system or after reformatting your system drive. Uninstalling doesn't delete the game's user data files.

@YukitoOnline Also, yes, that was said in almost exactly the same way in an old version of Shirou's Wikipedia page, an old version of the Wikipedia page for the scenarios, and a less old version of Shirou's page on the Type-Moon Wiki. It was removed because it was obviously the opinion of just the person who wrote it on the wiki, and had no citable sources nor easily-discernible backing.

one reason i love playing with Shirou and \archer is because when they use \ubw the bgm is epic

Which is cool and all for Archer, but Shirou doesn't do UBW. He has a normally-built Grail Activation and EX, and his EX is Nine Lives Blade Works (which is on a comparable level of awesome to UBW anyway), and his BGM doesn't change (though it should).

The only other character with a kick-ass BGM change would be Saber. When she goes into Blood Heat (would've been nice if Capcom had called it what it is and got it over with [P.S. Melty Blood kicks ass]) it changes to Sword of Promised Victory.

Crucis Fatal Fake is a different game, a sequel of sorts, which IS basically a mock of F/UC. And I have both Fatal Fakes. I have some videos up of Crucis. And no talk of pirating them. They aren`t free games.

Course it's not a free game. If it were American made it would be, but the Japanese are more lenient with Copyright, so you can sell your own products based on someone else's creations without their explicit permission. (Like CFF)

Yes, I do have a Japanese PS2. They're about as easy to obtain as the game itself (try Play-Asia, it has both [be a fan, get the F/UC SP Box ^_^]). You can also play this on a PS2 emulator, though (which actually records videos much better), but be prepared for some extremely slowed-down gameplay even on really fast systems (F/UC is one of the most resource-hogging games on the PS2).
