Capcom created Dan to moch a different SNK character (can't remember his name). Art of fighters rings a bell, I think Dan evolved from the secound player character of that game. AOF was also the first game Ryo came from (first player).

Dan's first apearance was in Street fighter Alpha. A prequal game to Street fighter 2. Fatal Fury and Art of fighting merged to create KOF in the late 1990's.

Bottom line, Street fighter was the first 2D vs fighting game period.

You know, as much as I love Shen Woo and the old classic worthwhile SNK games like Garou: Mark of the Wolves, I'm just going to wait and see how this game works out. Playmore = shit. I don't want to hype this crap just because it looks good. It needs to play smoothly.

I definitely recommend BlazBlue.

SF4 is definitely overrated. Characters have a case of Chris-Redfield syndrome. 1-frame link comboes, Ultras, awkward jumps, turtle fest, bad netcode... SF3 is much better. Sad to say I own SF4.

If you've played Resident Evil (another Capcom franchise), you will notice how Chris Redfield has some huge biceps from his supposedly lean figure from before.

If you look at the characters in SF4, they had gained Chris Redfield's magical biceps of might. Even Vega(claw) has managed to bulk up quite a bit. I just hate the art direction for SF4.

I wouldn't go as far to say that the genre itself copies SF. After all, SF was one of the first fighting games in existence. The rest of the fighting from KoF to Guilty Gear are not "rip-offs," but inspired games of their own rights. Too bad the public fails to recognize their greatness.
