  • awww the cycle of life in the animal kingdom

  • how long did it take them to eat the whole fish - i only ask because this morning I have lost a siamese fighter female - literally disappeared! I have 8 shrimp and wonder if they have eaten it overnight maybe??? i have opened and cleaned both filters and moved all plants can't find it anywhere. any ideas anyone????

  • in my pet store there like £ 1.50

  • I caught two of my Amanos chowing down on a big half dead angel fish. I was kinda enjoying the show.... then my Girlfriend saw it and went nuts! she called them murderers and wanted them out.

I had to march my GF down to the aquarium and get the guy that worked there to calm her down... he said they would never kill a fish, but they would eat anything that is on the bottom of the tank. Verdict: Angel died of natural caused.. and the shrimp got off on all charges.

  • i've got some of these shrimp, and I saw how they violently killed devoured a beetle that had fallen into the tank. I haven't put my hand in there since!

  • Does anyone know how to breed those shrimps?

  • True storie; I've had large Amanos like these, jump out of my tank, walk through the kitchen, down the hall, and into my bedroom. It is where I would find my missing shrimp - and other various parts of my old apartment - of course dead.

  • My fish store carries these things but they are EXPENSIVE. 8 bucks for one!

  • @takadi Otos are mostly wild caught, so they are kinda seasonal. If something happens in S. America, like floods, they will be harder to get, and therefore, more expensive.

  • @TheCuban1040

I'm actually talking about amano shrimp

  • @TheCuban1040

    here in Brazil...2 real = 1,25 dolar.

  • @takadi Thats way to high. I can get them year round for 2 bucks a peice in Cali.

  • @takadi The otos?!

  • @takadi

    no the amanos

  • yum?

  • Description win! :D "Neon tetras watch in Horror!" XDDD

  • Yes, this are fast in finding a food :)

  • This gives some insight into what happened to my last otocinclus that disappeared over night in a tank with several ghost shrimp...I figured they ate him after he died, but I'd wondered...

  • haha, your neon is like... oh, a dead fish... i should go....

  • haha

  • @kenzorama263 Aman shrimp are like... your next neon.

  • @kenzorama263 Amano shrimp are like... your next neon.

  • i need to get gravel. im thinking of this color gravel or like a gryish one. i want it to b natural

  • natural is so very pretty

  • haha i think the neon tetras wanted to share the food

  • I so badly miss working in the tropical fish store!! That was the best damn job I ever had!!!!

  • The nightmare for any fish !!!

  • do oto's turn pale just before they die ?

  • yes. when my oto was dying it was fading to write.

  • yes

  • looks like the neon wants a bite

  • Poor Oto. Great video though of even contained scavengers cleaning things up.

  • Poor oto. Shrimp and snails eat ANYTHING though it seems :P

  • dude im just getting started with fish and i have a 30 gallon tank with one black shark one ropefish(ropefish are like freshwater eels i think)and two shiny sharks i am getting another aquarium(30 gallon)but i want it to be a salt water aquarium how do i do that and should i get some fire cleaner shrimp, ghost shrimp,a decorator crab, small horshoe crabs,or just tell me some good starters for saltwater aquariums oh and nice tank :)

  • to start a saltwater u have to read up alot on the cycle because it is essential to maintaining a saltwater tank i don't know i u did it with freshwater but a good easy saltwater fish for a 30 gallon would either be damsels with shrimp or those nemo fish things idr what there called but id stick to freshwater and for the money you spend on a saltwater tank u can get a sweet 75g cichlid tank

  • Wow I thought amano shrimps were supposed to be algae eaters. These are algae-eater eaters, lol.

  • hahaha lol

  • I just bought some amano shrimp to thier pretty cool only one is as big as those right now.. I also bought six cherry shrimp

  • Nice shrimp. Wold they do well with ghost shrimp?

  • They should be okay. The ghost shrimp will have a hard time getting any food with these things in the tank though.

  • Then I think ill pass on them, because my ghosties usually eat the leftover food.

  • @TheCuban1040 Where did you get your Amanos?

  • if youve never had cherry shrimp you should try ordering them from an online site, they make a great addition to a tank and can increase their pop. very fast

  • I have a lot of Red Cherry, Amano, and Ghost shrimp running in my community freshwater right now, but the Amano is by far my favorite.

How long did it take for yours to grow to that size? Those are massive!

  • Yeah, ghost shrimp are totally lame compared to these things. Red Cherries look really cool but I've never seen any available where I live. I have had these guys for about 2 years.

  • i like amanos a lot. yours look really good.

have you ever kept them with bettas? i want to put a betta in my asian micro tank, but i use amanos and don't want them eaten. i have a dense planting of fanwort, so i don't think it'd be an issue, but i'm looking for advice.

    thanks.

  • Hey thanks Craig. I REALLY doubt that a Betta would be able to mess with an Amano. These things are beasts. Keep in mind that they eat like crazy. If you are thinking of putting them in a small Betta tank you'll have to feed them quite a bit. They are awesome shrimp though. Probably the best addition you can make to a planted tank.

  • thanks for the advice.

the tank is a 3 gallon with 5 caridina shrimp (4 are amanos) and 4 harlequin rasboras. the shrimp are a lot of fun to watch; i've had them for a few months now.

  • my shrimp ate 2 of my neon tetras i caught it red handed the second time any help??

  • You saw it kill a healthy tetra?

They will eat them after they die but I really doubt that they'd be able to kill a healthy fish.

How the fish died is anyones guess until you give some more info

  • what else do u feed them because mine never eats

  • I have an amano with a dwarf puffer and a bumble bee gobi, they dont mess around with the amano u should b fine with the betta n amano

  • thanks.

as for feeding, mine enjoy the brown algae that grows on wood, plus any kind of sinking pellets.

  • how did he die

  • Cherry just caught me watching your aquarium vids. She's accusing me of being jealous. Her reasoning is undeniable: I am jealous of your aquarium because "it's bonafide". Guilty.

  • No, this is actually my freshwater tank. Those are Neon Tetras, Johnny Blaze is a Purple Firefish who prefers to swim in the salty stuff.

  • Those colorful numbers, they're not Johnny Blaze species, are they?
