  • Thank you so much for uploading these teaching videos. I am currently in nursing school and these have helped me tremendously. Your knowledge of the subject and delivery are superb sir. At 3:10 I laughed out a loud a little... "So, you can tell at the moment, my brain is being perfused, because...hopefully it's working." LOL!

  • my blood pressure is 140/80 is this high

  • I need to sell some books, please get your classmates to buy a Physiology book and a Pathophysiology book from

    campbellteaching.co.uk

    thanks, John

  • I love britiish teachers

  • ok so if anyone reads this and knows anything i need you to reply

about a month ago i got surgery on my stomach. it was an excision of a urachal remnant....one week later i got a lithotripsy to break apart a kidney stone(i have yet to pass the stone). the day of my first surgery they took my blood pressure and it was unuusally high,,,they said hes just nervous. After the surgery they OD me on morphine and i went unconscience for 45 minutes. my blood pressure hasnt been normal since then.

  • @Zac147147 check your kidney again, ill tell you why because renin secreted by JG cells(in the kidneys) of afferent arterioles in response to low blood pressure or low plasma sodium will convert angiotensinogen (a plasma protein secreted by liver) into ANG-I, which is converted to ANG-II by ACE (found in the endolthelia of blood vessels and lung capillaries). ANG-II will increase blood pressure, sodium, and stimulate thirst by acting on circumventricular organs of the brain, hope you get better

  • I Watch all my Episodes-HD TV[.]Usnetxxx[.]com

  • Thank you, this helped me pass my exam with flying colours :-)

  • This has been so informative and educational, thank you for taking the time and doing such a great job! My whole family has been benefited.

  • Thanks for the visual. Very helpful.

  • how much blood pressure do the penis need?

  • It depends on the size.

  • LOL!

    (i know im very childish :| )

  • how about in PIH cases?

  • the same way. It's HTN induced by pregnancy due to an increase production of blood for the developing fetus. This isn't good though. We give MgSO4 for this condition to lower BP because this can be a precursor to pre-eclampsia

  • Thank You!

  • Easy to understand lecture about boold pressure. Are you a doctor?

  • NICE work keep it on, help me a lot in my studies

  • hi im an 11 year old girl and my dad has a pressure of 165 i dont know what happend please please tell me how to solve this sir thank you

  • Dear Iwoveu,

I assume this is your Dads first pressure (i.e. his systolic pressure)? If it is then things are very treatable for him. He needs some medicines called ACE inhibitors, unless his doctor prefers another type of drug. As long as he takes these he should be fine. There is no need for you to worry. Just make sure he goes to a doctor for these medicines and do not worry,

    John

  • There's two parts to the BP. The Systolic which directly reflects the cardiac output, that is the amount of blood the heart exerts per beat and the diastolic is related to the blood vessel. Low diastolic pressure indicates vasodilation while high indicates constriction. That number indeed is high. What John said is true. ACE is an enzyme that contributes in vasoconstriction. ACE inhibitors are medications that will inhibit ACE resulting in dilation from inhibition of

  • the constriction-causing enzyme. Calcium channel blocker medication will also relax the heart therefore decreasing systolic pressure.

  • i learned that in gym class

  • Pride comes before the fall....the problem in health care is it that others feel the pain of the fall, even although the pride is our.

  • Thank you for your encouraging feedback. It is of course always essential to remember humans are is essence a profound mystery. We are mind, body, soul and our social and family environment. I am keen not to over state the importance of one component of our humanity over another. However, we know that the ANS can function in the absence of the conscious brain during anesthesia, and that renin is the major cause of hypertension.

  • I agree with Dr Anand

The Bio-Mechnical model of human existance has been over come by the psycho-bio-mechanical model. You must have heard of PsychoNeuroImmunology.

Yours a 4th yr medical student from Newcastle

  • This explains why BP will remain elevated during sleep in renin excess hypertension. if the cause is more psychogenic the BP will fall during sleep, as it does in some patients,

    John

  • Some of us believe in the motor car model of the Human. I know the body is how the mind manufactures it! I have dozens of pts who have reduced or cured their bp through HeartMath. My 82 year old mother is one of them (cured of bp after 35 yrs of drug treatment). The Indian Air Force is researching Heart math for hypertension. Imperial College London is setting up this method to reduce stress in pregnant mums to reduce stress in the new born. This is modern science. Dr Anand MBBS MRCGP

  • Blood Pressure is measured ad nauseum and now even at home (which is more meaningful)

Blood pressure is through excessive sympathetic Fight or flight drive.

Blood Pressure is a symptom: not a disease.

If you successfully reduce your stress levels you permanently reduce Blood pressure: no doctors, no nurses, no drugs, no costs, no side effects and ++ patient empowerment.

  • Interesting comments. The main long term determinant of systemic arterial BP is renin secretion and the subsequent angiotensinogen/ angeotensin / aldosterone mechanism. Neuronal regulation is only short term, on a second by second basis, as mediated by the baroreceptor medullary pathways. Hypertension is not a symptom it is a sign.

  • I do not know what the evidence for the pivitol role of psychological stress in hypetension is. I do not think there is any to say it is a principle long term factor. The main long term determinant in primary hypertension is renin secretion by the kidney. There is firm evidence for this. This is why ACE inhibitors are so effective,

  • Great Video

Treatment is NOT medication longterm: it is stress relief

    Dr Anand MBBS MRCGP

  • Thx for such an interesting and easy to understand video! Im the 1st year student Assistant of an Anesthesiologist and your video definitely is useful to watch! I was looking for some more vido's of yours but coudnt find any. I hope to see some more soon! Thx again!
