@GameYang360 Get a program that has all types of flashing pictures and such. It tests the monitors' lags. Google: Test Input Lag, and the first site has a free testing software.
There are tons of programs for this.
I just hooked both monitors up. One via VGA & one via HDMI. This way I could do a visual comparison. Check out the Youtube video of Quake input lag. That video shows horrible input lag seen without any software.
Even though this monitor is no longer available, I'll provide some feedback..
I have seen some slowing down with this monitor when playing a movie some times, but I think it's due to the video card. It's the old style - AGP or whatever, not the PCI-e, so maybe it just wasn't good enough to run that much data.
And, not 1 dead pixel after so many years & 2 long distance moves!!
Why do people go to all the trouble of setting up something like this then just doing a naked eye comparison with a video game? Get some damned timer software and compare the timers.
@jidar I looked at various programs at the time to see times, and couldn't find a decent one. So I hooked both of them up to the same PC and looked at the difference. You CAN actually see a difference if your setup is done properly. I saw lag with Quake, where an LCD and CRT were matched up together.
Since I did not see even the slightest issue with the LCD when compared to the CRT I thought others would want to know that this model, even though it is a 5ms monitor does not produce lag
lcd is a joke but a good joke that people think is real
that lcd has 60hz and that sucks, marketing department sells the story that is not important for lcd becouse ....bla bla bla but it is,only good thing is less radiation and for led less mercury but lead is still there and other substances bad for men
lol guys i have hanns-g its 8ms i had it for 4 years now..... didnt had serious pixel damage.... just 1 pixel i saw once green.... but i pressed on the screen and it just disappeared.... so i think its about 4.5 years... but the color is already starting to change... white is not so white anymore.... and the lifetime it said in the website is 50k hours... well its time for me to upg to benQ 24inch 5ms LED
I've had this LCD now for almost a year, and still not one dead or stuck pixel, but of course I don't stupidly touch the LCD and am overprotective of what comes near it.
I'm also not on HDMI yet, as my video card doesn't have HDMI output. If I wanted to do HDMI, I'll have to get a new PC, and I don't got cash for that right now. But I wanted to make sure I had HDMI for PS3 or when I get a new PC.
Great buy.
Hope this helps you in deciding to buy this product.
You're wrong. DVI is basically the video component of HDMI. There is no audio, yes, but it still displays 1080p resolution. HDMI just has both true high definition audio and video in one stream.
I didn't say that DVI can't display 1080p. But why to switch to HDMI while DVI supports a higher resolution? This monitor can use 1920x1200 with DVI but if you change to HDMI, it can only use up to 1920x1080.
Yeah... that's wrong. I use an hdmi hookup to my monitor and it displays at 1920x1200, doesn't stop at 1080... hdmi is the same as dvi, it just supports an audio signal as well. You can't always beleive what the best buy salesman tells you.
Which translates to: "If you really wanna use crappy tv or monitor speakers, get an HDMI cable, or got the cheap way, and don't worry about HDMI ports, converters, etc. with DVI!"
I didn't mean by the technology itself. But more like, it's a rebranding of DVI, doing nothing but adding audio and making it a bit smaller. And keeping it simple like, if we could just DVI, there would be less compatibility issues, and converter buying and all that pointless stupid shit.
@Owminator The only point of HDMI is to be easier to market. Any lable with "HD" in it will sell better and that's been proven in the past. Converters aren't really converting much cause it's the same signal. And the smaller size means it's easier to use.
Really we need to just start using Full size Display ports though.
what the heck is this cheap ass game!

Why do 2ms response type monitors have a lot of input lag? I want an Acer monitor soon but can somebody explain how to test for input lag?

I just got my cousin's CRT monitor, and it became my main computer monitor. My 22" 1080p LCD TV is now used for my Wii.

Dvi has exactly the same image quality except that hdmi supports up to 1920x1080 while dvi supports 1920x1200. You shouldn't switch to hdmi.
TheWiiZone 2 years ago
either of those inputs go much higher than that, up to 2560x1600

@Owminator HDMI has the same video output that DVI uses so I don't see how HDMI is garbage.

HDMI is the exact same quality as DVI, it just transports sound, and is physically smaller.
Owminator 1 year ago
I'm taking a guess that you're using vga?
voltz15 2 years ago
I believe CRT was connected via VGA, and LCD with the one above VGA, but not HDMI
I was unable to get full use of HDMI at the time cuz of old PC
This would make the lag test more precise I suppose.

Yep WO.
(Not sure of the version though. Won't be near my PC for weeks.)
I thought it would show lots of fast motion movements, while using up a lot of power.
