  • What's the speed for that? <.<

  • Mach schnell.

  • Happy 158,000th view

    =D

  • thats the same plane as in BF2 xD

  • *recommend

  • this guy was flirting with the sound barrier, wouldnt reccomend a roll like that over mach 1, nice vapor cloud big drop in air pressure, who needs porn lol

  • no sonic boom either lol

  • thats fuckin sweet

  • part 3: This would basically tear the airframe apart. Why the sonic cone appears? I have no idea. I'm still a high school student and I'm no professor in physics. I suspect though, that this is due to the compression of gases(aircraft is going close to the sound barrier, gases will build up in front of the plane.) also compressing ice / water molecules / particles in the air, therefore refracting light and producing that cone effect. Okay end of long 3 part post lol. ttyl.

  • Bigfleabag...good attempt at an explanation, but I just wanted to correct a few things. 1) maneuvering does not increase/decrease weight, 2) when you roll an aircraft, the ailerons will increase lift on one wing and decrease lift on the other, causing the roll...if one wing were to stall, this would result in a spin, and 3) the F-18 is performing a Critical Mach pass.

  • Definition of Critical Mach: "A "critical Mach number" is the speed of an aircraft (below Mach 1) when the air flowing over some area of the airfoil has reached the speed of sound. For instance, if the air flowing over a wing reaches Mach 1 when the wing is only moving at Mach 0.8, then the wing's critical Mach number is 0.8."

A vapor cloud is evidence of supersonic airflow over parts of the aircraft, not a sonic boom or supersonic flight. Hope this helps!

  • Shut up. Im a high school student and knew that when I was in grade school

  • part 2: You're right because moves like that at that speed would overstress the airframe, causing the metal on the plane to buckle under the massive G force induced on it. [Pilots im sorry if im rambling about this lol. For the uneducated ppl! :D] When you execute a turn by banking the plane to the left or right, you are basically stalling a wing while the other generates lift. This brings the plane to start turning. It also increases your weight. Think of it as the wingtips now weighing 9 times

  • its due to mthe law that planes arent allowed to or something.

    Yes you're right.

Planes below 10 thousand feet must keep their airspeed below 250 knots (its 1.852 kilometers per hour to a knot.)

lol he didnt break the sound barrier, any plane that close u would be able to hear a big bang. anyways if he did break the sound barrier he wouldnt be doing manouvers like that it would break the plane to pieces. he got extremely close to breaking the sound barrier though!

    Yes, you're right.

  • That wasnt quite a sonic boom. I didnt hear one. He was close though!

  • its due to mthe law that planes arent allowed to or something.

  • Sonic Boom!!!

    Tiger! Tiger! Tiger Uppercut!!

    Sonic Boom!! [flash kick]

  • if someone where to break the sound barrier running,.....id shit myself...

  • too bad its physically impossible. but that would still be amazing

  • Maybe a fart is our sonic boom?

  • cracking a whip is a sonic boom! kind of...

  • LOL

  • awesome video! all the others are zoomed out all the way and cant see anything

  • for a good look at the life of a fighter pilot, check out FighterPilotFolliesDOTcom. Hysterical!

  • they call it sonic boom cause when someone breaks the sound barrier u dont here them coming...u dont here them past u just here a boom and its gone

  • you do hear the planes afterburner and engine sound, just after the boom

  • If something or someone Breaks sound Barrier it makes an explosion sound

  • What is the boom From?

  • from when the plane brakes the sound barrier

  • i have seen all the blue angels, red arrows, and thunder birds cause i used to live on Mcguire AFB and they have an airshow there ever year

  • tit flaps

  • That's like........

    A portable thunder or sumthin

  • That sounds like a bottle rocket compared to an F-14

  • Anyone who start off with "DUDE" in the comment box - and finnishes off with 'No stit' just ain't worth fukin' reading.......

  • dont know much about the structure of a fighter jet do ya, the structure of the f-18 can handle forces from between 7.5 to 9 g's but anything over 8 g's generally has the jet grounded for maintenance as anything over 8 runs the risk of cracks, this jet is not even near 8

  • it's called Transonic. it occurs slightly below the sound barrier. localized regions of the aircraft are breaking the sound barrier (in relation to relative wind) but not the whole aircraft yet.. remember- air accelerates over the top of the wing.

  • If he broke the speed of sound that close to people and the ground it would pop your eardrums and shatter windows.

  • What a nutcase, travelling that fast and thinks to himself "I think i might do a bit of a roll"

    xD

  • He's probably in an airshow. Also, the plane is made for high-speed maneuvering. Be kind of useless in combat if it weren't.

  • At or over the speed of sound, climbing sharply or doing any other g-pulling maneuver can screw you. Even the Blue Angels/Red Arrows/Thunderbirds/etc. don't fly that fast.

  • That is a Blue Angel.

  • alright alright, i fixed the title and description.

  • Which is very creative by the way

  • agreed

  • r u blind..?

  • He was travelling at the speed of sound, he didn't actually break it!

  • He actually didn't break the sound barrier. He came very close but there was no sonic boom.
