I am a HUGE BMW fan but have to agree.. This is NOT a stock M5.
I have Two BMWs and a JCW Mini.. I normally would side with BMW but there is some dishonesty dripping from this that more than a ECU and exhaust can fix.
That M5 was not stock. Also the Shelby driver was not driving the car to it's full potential. A stock Gt500 tires will break loose at 60kilometers an hour which is the speed they claim they are at when they start. Clearly there was no hint of that from the Shelby. Also to pull away from a lighter car like that the M5 would have to have 200 plus more HP!!

Anyone who has somewhat knowledge about a GT500d will KNOW that for under 10k any GT500 can produce well over 700 rwhp AND put it down hard. Its as simple as bolting on a Kenne Bell SC ($6k) and maybe minor suspension upgrades and its unlikely anything you see on the street is going to compare, unless that is, another GT500. Not to mention "600hp" (not rwhp) is definitely on the low end of the power spectrum considering TONS of Gt500s produce 800, 900, 1000 rwhp all day. And handle turns.
@TheBH21 they can handle turns? They must have done a full out suspension mod with a different chassis and moved some stuff around to get a perfect 50:50 weight distribution. Do apples to apples if you're trying to compare a stock m5 to a supercharged gt500 also. Put a twin turbo on the m5 to go against a twin screw gt500, I am pretty sure the m5 will still beat it in the turns and in the straights. Mustang, Camaros, Challangers, Chargers are cruise cars, not race cars. The weigh from this cars are to high. the aerodynamic from GT500 is lower than from M5. do a fight with an CORVETTE or FORD GT! When you dyno the car, the car looses a lot of horsepower through the drivetrain. One example is that its probably the cheapest 200mph production car there is. Secondly, its also probably the only 600+HP car to come with a 5 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. And its not voided if you use the launch control. Yes. the new 2011 Zr-1 has launch control. Corvette motors are race bred and endurance tested. Thats why GM can offer the big warranty.

I'm not quite sure I believe that the GT500 was giving it his all. I didn't hear the S/C Scream and Stock to Stock the GT500 is between 2 and 4 tenths faster in the 0-60. I understand neither are stock but that S/C should not only be screaming to be making "600HP" But it should be getting immediate power as well.

When you dyno the car, the car looses a lot of horsepower through the drivetrain. One example is that its probably the cheapest 200mph production car there is. Secondly, its also probably the only 600+HP car to come with a 5 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. And its not voided if you use the launch control. Yes. the new 2011 Zr-1 has launch control. Corvette motors are race bred and endurance tested. Thats why GM can offer the big warranty.

Because yes your 01 cobra could beat an e36 (90's model) it would be a good race against an e46 (early-mid-2000's), and stock for stock you would get clobbered by an e9x ( late 2000's). Anyways more to the point this isn't b.s. and if you knew anything about BMW then you would know that this a 5.0l V10 producing 500 hp stock and in stock form is more than capable of knocking off Lamborghini Gallardos (regular ones, not the special ones).

Then it shouldn't weigh 4000lbs and it should be more aerodynamic. Good example of cars that were built for speed are the Corvette Z06, ZR-1 and Ford GT. All aerodynamic and weigh a lot less than 4000lbs unlike mustangs, camaros, and Challengers.

why does ford mustang, shelby, Cobra etc... loses every race?? This cars looks like rockets, fat engines, needs at least 20L Gas and don´t can´t take (for example) a 2.0 Subaru Wrx. This Cobra lose every race, ... My cousin has one of those! Ford sucks so bad!!! The ugly BMW 335i, looks like shit, except the two pipes behind, it looks like a 318i,.... but 0-100 km/h - 5.5 sec and it need 10l gas!

I'm not quite sure I believe that the GT500 was giving it his all. I didn't hear the S/C Scream and Stock to Stock the GT500 is between 2 and 4 tenths faster in the 0-60. I understand neither are stock but that S/C should not only be screaming to be making "600HP" But it should be getting immediate power as well.
