  • Sometimes it's really juicy...and other times, it's obvious it's been sitting for awhile and is partially dried out. Our KFC has a good amount of spices on it. One option our KFC has is an "un-advertized" Manager's Special: 10 thighs for $6.99....it is only available when they have extras!! You just have to ask. Their nutrition label claims it is "zero carb"...mine was so flavorful, I was sceptical. Anyway, I like it! Still "copyable" if you like to experiment!!

  • I heard that the KFC grilled chicken had wheat used in it.

  • Among other things.

  • whats wrong with her neck?

  • Christine has C5 surgery to remove a herniated disc when this video was done. She's all better now and out of the brace. THANKS for asking. :)

  • I just started watching your videos and I absolutely love them!! The no carb diet is the only diet I have ever been able to lose weight on...Thanks so much for the ideas! I love the videos, keep them coming!!!

  • THANKS so much for watching 'em! We appreciate it. :D

  • I dont know guys.....we kinda liked the chicken, it was'nt dry for me and DH over here, and we can spice it up ourselves if we felt that more flavor was needed. Also, it is a fast dinner, I hope KFC does comes up with a spicier version eventually.

  • I hear ya and I'm glad you liked it. Keep in mind this was an on-the-spot review of the chicken we got. Maybe a return visit will net different results, but we weren't impressed with this first go round. :)

  • I think it's killer-I eat it every Sunday night, usually while watching Family Guy, then I like the refrigerator drumstick or 2 during the late night Chappelle's show re-runs-I think it tastes like chicken, doesnt taste over-spiced or re-flavored, I think spices and flavorings should compliment the taste of the food, not overpower and re-flavor it-now if they'd only get some broccoli and cauliflower to go with it-SUPPORT THE GRILL-Represent

  • I'm with you on the broccoli and cauliflower, Bill! :)

  • What is wrong with saying sucks??? It's not a swear word.

  • LOL! We try to keep the videos super-"clean" and I think Christine was just trying to be funny. :)

  • THANKS for sharing your opinion, but I have to disagree. Convenience and availability of a low-carb food at a popular fast food restaurant chain are both good things indeed. But if that food they offer on their menu doesn't taste good, then why would I want to waste my money on something like that. Perhaps it is just a local issue at my Spartanburg, SC KFC store, but they need consistency in ALL their stores to build confidence in the consumers they are trying to reach with this product.

  • Jimmy Moore is right, its all about marketing and reaching out to consumers in the BEST way possible. This new KFC gimmick is not the right way. The food was bland and just didn't taste right. You gotta keep people buying the inventory or people won't keep buying and unfortunately they will discontinue the product. I am earning an MBA so I should know this! But unfortunately I don't buy from KFC anyways due to how they treat their chickens before slaughter.

  • You know what, I have been thinking more and more and this gimmick, I think was to use less of their other product inventory like spices and breading. It was a money saving measure on their PL statement and not a "true" reach to low carbers like all of us.

  • And therein lies the problem with marketing an inferior product like Kentucky Grilled Chicken as a healthy alternative, but then conveniently neglecting to tell people the cost of making that product are cheaper than the original version. This is a PERFECT object lesson for your MBA. :)

  • Well this really wasn't ouright neglect, this was outright intentional. The corporate executives of KFC didn't want to trim down the fat of their own paychecks but instead came up with a horrible product to put on the market. This almost reminds me of the clear channel dilemma, giving Rush Limbaugh a $400 million contract and laying off 4,000 employees. These businesses need to learn how to trim the fat where it belongs.

  • BTW: after some searching and finding the allergens page at the kfc website: The grilled chicken has... WHEAT, SOYBEANS AND GLUTEN?!?!?!?!

  • Okay, I tried it. The dark meat is very moist BUT there isn't enough flavor. Why didn't they just use the same spices they use on their other chicken?!?!?!?!

  • Yeah I know, right? That "original recipe" flavor is why people eat at KFC.

  • The way chickens have been kept before they reach KFC I would leave them. Good luck to all who are doing the low carb. It works, I am now 18 stone and I was 26 1/2 stone in October, just have the same to go and then 1/3 of me will be left beautiful (hopefully I will have surgery for skin).

  • KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK on your low-carb lifestyle, Catherine. I'm VERY proud of you.

  • Thanks! the information on vitamin D is interesting. What botheres me about the protein I eat is the grain they feed protein tends to tip the balance of Omega 3 (ALA) to Omega 6. Grass fed encourages high ALA and less omegs 6. The antibiotics and higher fat content in agriculteral meats really needs to be addressed. I have been getting alot of cramp recently, despite taking magnesium/calcium. How much potassium should I take a day?

  • If you're still cramping in your legs, try 500mg and that should do the trick.

  • I don't get how El Pollo Loco in the LA area can have such AWESOME flavorful grilled chicken, but this is so not that. I'd recommend El Pollo Loco if you ever get a chance, and for sides they have full salsa bar and salads to go along with it. Extremely tasty!

  • If I ever make it out west, I'll DEFINITELY try it, Kent.

  • Well this review def. helped me save some money, oh and nice beard jimmy!...oh and i hope christine neck is okay??

  • THANKS! Some people have written to me saying the other chicken parts are better than the breast, but I dunno if I wanna waste good money going back there again. My KFC seems to be lacking in quality compared to others. I appreciate the beard comments and Christine is recovering from herniated disc surgery in her neck. Four more weeks in that neck brace. WOO HOO! :)

  • The beard is SEXY (sorry christine), I was like who is that mmm.

Hey i see you with that Denny's cup? so did you go to KFC and Denny's.

Keep the beard--i will have to re-watch to be looking at sexy Jimmy

  • You're scaring me. :-~ LOL!

She likes to refill cups for weeks after we've been to a restaurant, so yes that's a Denny's cup. :)

  • My hubby and tryed it too, but I really didnt like it he did but oh well. Thanks for the video

  • Different strokes for different folks, right? :)

  • Wow - we LOVE ours. Of course I buy thighs and legs and it's juicy and has a nice smoky taste. Would you consider buying a thigh and trying it? Maybe it's dependent upon the chain, and how they spice it up? Our family LOVED it.

  • I LOVE legs because they have LOTS of fat in them. Maybe it does depend on your own KFC, but this left a lot to be desired.

  • Do you like the rotisserie chicken's they sell at Sam's. I get those a lot.

  • I like rotisserie chicken from ANYWHERE compared with this new KFC grilled chicken.

  • ther fryed is beter

  • DUH! The fried is better because it has carbs. :D

  • Spicy would be better!

  • YEPPERS!

  • restauraunts are generally responsive to macro-trends and right now low-carb is still considerd a fringe demoraphic. look at how creative tom naughton had to be when eating at fast food joints. then there are places that want to charge extra for subbing veggies over potatoes ect. one time i had to tell a waitress that I was diabetic in order for her to ok a veg/pot swap! Still I love to eat out and the more of us that are " low carb and proud of it!" and let the restaurants know it the better.

  • Great comments, although this grilled chicken appeals to both low-fat and low-carb dieters...a MUCH WIDER demographic. And I know what you mean about subbing out and wanting to charge for it...that's pretty criminal.

  • I have eaten this now at least 4 times. I like it simply because it is low carb but I am not sure about the MSG. It doesn't taste as good as I expected too.

  • And taste is just about everything in my book if you're gonna spend your hard-earned money eating out. Otherwise, just pick up some 99 cents/pound chicken and cook it yourself, right? :)

  • Thanks fro the review. I will save my tastebuds, and just grill my own at home, WITHOUT all those crazy additives.

  • We REALLY wanted this to taste good, Sheila. Maybe it was just a bad day.

  • omg Jimmy you are a MESS! lol Y'all are a trip. Thanks for the review. Haven't had KFC in years and years. I was just saying a couple months ago how there is such a need for a drive-thru business specializing in Low-Carb! There is NOTHING like this that I have ever heard of. For all of us people on the go, it makes our low-carb lifestyle so challenging. Like, having to order a sandwich to get the meat off of it while driving is horrible! lol. HELP! we need more options!

  • You know, I had someone approach me with the idea of opening up a "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" franchise restaurant business to do just that, but you need lots of capital investments to make that happen on a wide scale. Someday.

  • KFC® Grilled Chicken Fresh Chicken Marinated with: Salt, Sodium Phosphate, and Monosodium Glutamate Seasoned with: Maltodextrin, Salt, Bleached Wheat Flour, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil, Monosodium Glutamate, Spices, Palm Oil, Natural Flavor, Garlic Powder, Soy Sauce (Soybean, Wheat, Salt), Chicken Fat, Chicken Broth, Autolyzed Yeast, Beef Powder, Rendered Beef Fat, Extractives of Turmeric, Dehydrated Carrot, Onion Powder, and Not More Than 2% Each of C

  • Marinated in msg and then seasoned with more msg?! KFC shouldnt be using this horrible stuff! Check out the "healthy" ingredients:

  • THANKS for sharing!

  • I had a leg and a thigh....they were moist and juicy and very favorable.

  • Glad you liked 'em! Maybe the leg would have been better with more fat.

  • FREE FOOD AT EL POLLO!!

    Taste the Fire® for FREE

at El Pollo Loco on April 28

Official Rules The Taste the Fire® Offer (offer) consists of one flame-grilled leg and one flame-grilled thigh, two tortillas (choice of flour or corn) and fresh salsa.

  • Too bad we don't have this restaurant chain on the East Coast.

  • I did not know that today is free piece day! I have a coupon for a free piece. I was going to do a vid on this! Good job guys!

  • Let's see your video on the El Pollo promotion. :D

  • Just tried some and I didn't like it. They gave thighs which I hate anyway. Bland and greasy.

  • I wouldn't have liked a thigh or wing either.

  • talking with your mouth full.....shame

  • Wha...di...yo...sa...I'm eati.... :D :D :D

  • Dip it in some Mayo with some seasoning like chili powder or hot sauce something :) YUM

  • woot woooot! lol

  • That does sound outstanding, but you shouldn't have to doctor up food from a restaurant like KFC.

  • I am sure Christine is ready to lose that necklace....and your chicken imitation.....you must annoy her so.....har har...

    the beard works for you...

  • Nah, Christine says I keep her life interesting...she is SO ready to get out of the neck brace in five more weeks. Working on keeping the beard looking clean.

  • KFC used to have I think it was called "Tender Roast" chicken that had great fall off the bone flavor...Then again...with all the free chicken they gave away...who knows how much they cooked at once in preparation of the crowd...could be why it's dry....

  • I remember that one and it didn't sell at all. But it was very good. The thing is it is good for both low-fat and low-carb diets, so you'd think they'd promote it as such.

  • Glad to see you posting more videos!

  • Great video! BTW best chicken sound I have heard in a long time. =)

  • Why thank you!

  • We're trying to hit 100 by the end of the year, so we've revved up the videomaking process. :) THANKS for watching!
