It 'a true genius ... artists like Jean Michel Jarre and I think there are not that unique ... I have his entire discography but I still always prefer his earlier works. Interesting work in 3D and plays with tools 30 years ago ...
I'm listening to Calypso 2 from Tribute Jarre Forever this evening : Played by Henrik Huste :) But I like to listen to the original version of Calypso 2 from JMJ cd album Waiting For Cousteau :)
@janjuliusalbert En revanche, il faut beaucoup de tact pour ne pas dire que ce qu'il fait est incomparable face à ton commentaire un peu inutile et infondé.
Just after Equinoxe Part 4 one of my all time Jarre favourites. It`s so... moody, drifting, dark in parts... love it. First I had the vinyl, then I found out that "Waiting for Cousteau" is very much longer on the CD... ^^ A remarkable album. But this part is outstanding.
I listened to it in my younger years while reading a scary novel. It intensified the scare. Its many years ago, but while i hear it now the chills go down my spine. I do not remember the story, but boy do i remember the fright!
underrated. Once I see a skater girl on ice who listened to this album. I was like, woooow a girl listening to jarre. I asked her, something like is this place open, and asked if the music was jarre. She said, how did i knew :) im a jarre fanatic.
Doesnt get old. Leaves BOC, Autechre and Orbital guys standing with their mouths and laptops open. Trance/psychedelic ultimate record. Halcyon comes near, but isnt so inventive and diverse.

I like this album too :D Both listen to it on cd and watch Calypso 1,2 and 3 live from Paris La Defense concert I have on my computer :D And even though I'm not good to play on my keyboard I have the songbook of Waiting For Cousteau here at home too with other of my 6 other songbooks of JMJ :D
Holy shit! I've been a big Jarre fan for many years, but this is the first time I've heard this! My mind is blown!!! Astounding stuff that just goes to prove that Jarre is THE synth maestro!
Take all Autechres, Aphex Twins, Boards of Canadas, To Rococo Rots and other "intelligent" bullshit and try to compare it with this piece. Melody and song structure were, are and will always be more inspiring than random clicks and bleeps. Period.

I have this album, and I like this song the most. He should have performed this in the indoors world tour instead of Calypso III :)

This is the final album of the Jarre first period.
Last truly original album.
On "Images" he looked back. He should never have done that.

I read today that he would perform at Radio CIty Music Hall in New York, aswell as other dates in the U.S., but I still don't have the schedule.

A very nice song by JMJ. Somehow underrated and much less popular than Calypso 1, but equally briliant.
