  • Wart: "Muhahahaha! The Mario Bros will never be able to beat me!" 8 minutes later... "Well shit. Guess I'd better start planning my revenge for the sequel..."

  • and i taught Toad is a Noob...

  • ...wtf? Speed hacking is for twats...

  • @MuCTePCuCaDMuH Indeed. Good things this Tool Assisted speedrun isn't using any hacking of any kind.

  • @Tomtelala Is it normally hacking then a TAS ?

  • @RestLessIP Hacking the game is disallowed. You have to use an unchanged copy of the game to TAS with. Then you simply add input to the game, nothing else. If the same input used in the would be played on console, the same result would be given.

  • This guy cant be a human...

  • @LeoLucas360 You should note that this is a Tool Assisted Speedrun. Please visit the website TASvideos for more information.

  • Does anyone else remember the SMB1 music glitch in this game? I found it when you throw the potion and go in the door while you have a star and it's almost run out. when the star runs out while youre still in the blue and black world, the SMB1 music will start playing and will continue to play and replace the normal level music when you're transported back to the normal world. does anyone else remember this glitch?

  • I like watching a video that's 240p but still watchable thanks to the pixel size.

  • I Feel like a noob watching this it takes me over an hour to beat this game ........

  • @patyos2 this is tool assisted so he is the noob

  • this is kinda retarded .... what's the point of playing video games now?

  • SMB 2 was always the most interesting..

  • good job at using the glitches, well everything to your advantage! awesome vid, like, and subbed

  • Speedruns take advantage of the glitches, no matter if you like it of not.

Other than that, games would take hours or at max half their normal time, which isn't a speedrun at all, then.

Anything over 40 minutes can't really be considered a speedrun anymore.

Btw, why are you using toadstool?

  • @paddymoep Toadstool is the princess, and she was never used.

Toad is the name of the little guy. The reason why he was used is that he runs faster when he's carrying something, plus the fact that he's the fastest digger.

  • @Tomtelala Thanks, exactly the kind of answer i wanted. Maybe i should've added that i don't know everything there is to know, so people won't start attacking me. Thanks.

( I was going to write "toad", but of course i screw and mix them up )

  • Hell, why didn't you just use one of your cheats to take you to the last boss? You then could have posted a time of 10 seconds or less.

  • @jacoblonewolf Using cheats would be cheating, this Tool Assisted Speedrun isn't using any cheats at all. If there was a glitch that could take you to the last boss, that would probably have been used.

  • @Tomtelala There are no double jumps in Super Mario 2. To grab something you'd need to jump on top of it, not stand beside it. More than once the player has run into an enemy with no consequences. No different than using a Game Shark. Call it Tool Assisted if you choose, it's still using cheats.

  • @jacoblonewolf You can double jump through a glitch. If you jump when you are very close to an enemy, you will be able to jump again in midair. Not that hard to do on console either.

And when you do jump while being cose to an enemy, you can pick it up very quickly as well. He picks them up quickly because you are running faster with Toad while carrying something.

A TAS is NEVER using cheats, only abuses the glitches and such in the game.

  • @Tomtelala It's still an abuse of, what you'd call, "normal" gameplay. Using an in game glitch is no better than using a Game Genie. Never have I said it's wrong to use these, but come on. You want to impress somebody then let's see it done without glitches. The warp zones are fine. They were, relatively, easy to fine & since they are clearly marked, purposely put there. The player at "2:04-2:14 " is almost constantly running into enemies.

  • @jacoblonewolf A game genie is changing stuff in the game, stuff that weren't programmed in the game from the start. A glich is something built into the game, unintentional of course.

Doing a run with glitches is often a lot harder than without (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask for example).

As it is a TAS, he can choose to be as close to an enemy as possible. When playing on console you don't take such risks. But it can be done the same way on console.

  • @Tomtelala The game I played when it first came out, touching an enemy anywhere meant instant power down or death. I'm pretty sure I would have heard about these glitches in a gaming magazine or two. A Game Genie uses codes already programmed in otherwise they wouldn't work. Using a Game Genie lets a person access these built in glitches. Just because you don't need to use a Game Genie to access these glitches doesn't mean it does not change gameplay. Lets see it done without glitches.

  • @jacoblonewolf A game genie changes memory addresses. You can have the address for Mario's speed and change it with the game genie to make you run faster. Or change it to make Mario invincinble and things like that. Those are cheats, and not built in glitches.

The double jump is well known, you can check on GameFaqs for example, first glitch that shows up.

If you search for "Super Mario Bros. bot" you can find a TAS that is run on a console, which proves that it can be done.

  • @Tomtelala Call it whatever you like. This person is using moves that were never meant to be used in gameplay. Using glitches is giving an unfair advantage to the player & alters the intended way the game makers wanted it played. Like I've written already, you want to impress someone. Do it without glitches.

  • @jacoblonewolf I call it what it is, and yeah, that's what I want to call it =).

It's not always guaranteed what is intended and not in a game. While I can agree that the double jump certainly wasn't intended, all cases are not as obvious though.

Good luck going to a speedrun comminuty to tell peeople to do runs without glitches. They neither like to make it without glitches or watch glichless runs. It doesn't show more skill to do glitchless either, it's the lazy and boring way of playing.

  • This games fucked up

  • ...the fuck happened @ 0:33? lol

  • @Tomtelala Good luck trying to break the world record. Emulators don't count.

  • lol tool assisted is for gamers without skills.

  • @dorminyorda Only because you do not need real gaming skill when making a TAS, a whole different type of skill is needed. Making an optimised TAS is not an easy task and takes a loy of effort and time to do.

Some people, myself included, doesn't TAS because we are bad at the game. But simply because we are enjoying it more than speedrunning normally.

  • this was always the hardst ario game for me dnt know why also the weirst dosen fit the theme of mario at all almost like it was another game

  • 2:22 silver cock street

  • THE END!

  • And he find out that all was a dream.......

  • Wild my best was just over 15min using only Luigi. I'll have to give Toad a shot.

  • And it was all a dream...

  • I dont understand why you pick items up or pick bad guys up and run around with them without using them....just for the fun of it or is there something to it?

  • @Markland100 Whwn you are playing with Toad, you run faster while carrying items/enemies.

  • un fucking believable

  • Tas= tool assisted. You play the whole game in slow motion and can save anywhere. So if you fall off the cliff, you can just rewind and jump again as many times as you want till you get it right. Then when you play back the whole game, only the good parts were recorded and it looks like this...get it people?

  • u hack. I know. if you do not hack, make a video on how to do those glitches

  • @karihomo He doesn't hack, nope. Go to the website TASvideos, click on "Game Resources" and then "Super Mario Bros. 2" to learn how to do these things.

  • impressive

  • 3:34 ah pokies constantly stalking you since 1988

  • @flygonrock56 pokeys i meant

  • lol, extreme Birdo rape.

  • Yea great job nintendo this stank ass bowser isnt even in this

  • I had this game in the form of Super Mario Advance. I beat it 100%- no warps and fully beat the Egg Challenge unlocked by completing the game.

  • You destroyed Birdo!!!

  • wow...you're really good...not enough ritalin?

  • c'mon let's save subcon as fast as possible

  • You are SO GOOD AT THIS GAME! I can only get to level 6-2!

  • @bocaj5509 wow its actually hard it took me 3-4 days to finish the entire game

  • he used glitches it is not legit

  • @devicat Using glitches is very legit when it comes to speedrunning.

  • @Tomtelala

well kind of. i still would say do it the normal way (w/ glitches and with warps)

  • Bravo!

  • @ 10:05 they switched names

  • Damn, thats awesome! i call it the best Mario speedrun iv'e ever seen!

    5/5

  • fucking hardest game ever

  • @MrHotrod68

    are you serious?

  • Easily the black sheep of the Mario games, Lost levels is far better, great platforming anyway.

  • 6:18 WTF 2 birdo ?

  • Who is three headed snake man at like 5:28?

  • @Iwatchtrek

    Triclyde - 10:21

  • how to make a double jump?

  • @karihomo If you jump at an enemy as close as possible, you will be able to jump another time while being in midair. It's a little glitch in the game.

  • you are pro player. 5/5

  • are you using cheats? i could never jump as high as you are 5:01

  • @someguy111222 If you hold up+down when climbing (I think that's it at least) you'll get a very high speed upwards.

No cheats were used in this Tool Assisted Speedrun.

  • how did toad do that at 2:50?

  • @joshfish2 It's down by holding up+down at the same time I believe.

  • It's game from my childhood and it's Super Mario Bros 2 isn't Doki Doki shit !

  • this was such a weird ass game

  • I never knew anyone who played Mario in this game.

  • @FaithfulAndTrue100

    i did :)

  • 76 people still say that Toad sucks

  • Why does s/he always carry a body and run with it when he is Toad? Does it help you in any way? And when he is Luigi s/he doesn't carry anyone..?

  • @LoboAscuridad Toad runs faster when carrying something :)

  • Damn, major pro here! I have two older brothers who were pretty good gamers and no one in my family could beat this game. :/

  • So, wait.. There was no Bowser in this game? O_o

  • @JuggarJoshua As far as I know this is the only super mario bros game in which browser isn't the main villian unless you count the games that came before Super Mario that featured the charactor named mario. If memory serves correctly there were 3 games that came before the Super Mario Bros franchise

  • @JuggarJoshua Correct, because this wasn't originally a Mario game. It was "Doki Doki Panic" in Japan. The Japanese (at least rumor says) thought that the real Mario 2 was too hard for Americans, so they changed some sprites in "Doki Doki Panic", and passed it off as Mario. Rest assured, the guy who made "Doki Doki Panic" also created the Mario series. Oh, but we did get the Japanese Mario 2 in "Super Mario All-Stars" on SNES, called "Mario: The Lost Levels", and they got our Mario 2 later on.

  • Dang, I remember going to that final castle as a kid and being so confused where to go.

  • There are warps in SMB2? My childhood is destroyed, you bastards!

  • @madmanszalinski

    You're not alone -__-

  • @madmanszalinski You didn't know about the warps?

  • okay...WTF IS UP WITH THOSE BIRD HEADS ON THE WALLS?!!! O_O

  • surprisingly enough, doki doki panic (or well, this game) happens to be a challenging game, but I've completed it a few dozen times now and I have to say, I really don't see why so many people say this, along with a lot of older games, are hard. They really aren't that difficult, it just requires patience, practice and a skilled gamer. A genuinely insanely hard game is Zelda: Parallel Worlds, but that's unofficial. For a devilish official game, play touhou on the hardest setting.

  • @xNapalmFlamex i own an arcade with a bunch of old games close to 600 and i agree.. i think people say they're hard because you have so sit through hours of playing without being able to save and in some cases start over .... once you turn off your console its over that's why now you can go through 3-4 games a month easily ... i remember as a kid it took me 3 weks and a couple of days to finish links awakening

  • how does tas work, is everything that happened in this video able to be done, but the tas just makes it easy to do? these arent cheats allowing him to do the things in this vid? its all in the game design?

  • I feel soooo violated, this dude did what took me hours and hours in 8 minutes, 8 minutes!

  • @oboyy It said tool assisted, so I imagine it took him just as long if not longer from his perspective of the game. You know, because of the slow motion and everything.

  • y toad?

  • a ma zi ng >.< hdp

  • Mario dreamed he did absolutely nothing but still got cheered like a hero. Someone thinks VERY highly of himself.

  • too bad the ocarina of time postman was 1 second faster... :P

  • Doki Doki Panic much?

  • yea dude... try doing this without the game genie....double jumps... floating all the way to the top... you cant play this game

  • @joshpatrick1234 Double jumps are easy without the game genie. Just run full speed at an enemy, then right as you are next to him, tap 'a' twice. You'll double jump. It's not a code or anything. It's just how the game works.

  • mickey mouse is a copy character, most ideas originate somewhere. In this case "family" Mario was born wth this remake of Doki Doki Panic. They did bother to improve the graphics by changing backgrounds and adding extra stuff :P.

  • This game is not a Mario game. They only put Mario Characters in it because they thought it would do better that way in America. Look up "Doki Doki Panic".

  • why didn't that guy visit the red sniffet in world 3-3? he's the only red one in the game!

oh well, i'll go visit him then.

  • playing cheats lOl

  • doki doki panic copy :(

  • Yo! Home cuz ain't playing wit it!

  • not only tool assisted but totally faked

  • Comment removed

  • can someone give me back my 10:21 ... imean it was all a dream come on mario!!!!

  • I know it's TAS but 5:03 to 5:10 seemed suspicious...

  • And just like that, Toad saved the world!

  • 2nd birdo fight = most one sided fight ever

  • I could neva beat dis game so quickly man! Phediuk you da best MAYNE!!!, Mario reminds me of da Italian gamer I've played with on XBOX Live called Gangster to the Core. Gangster has a bad temper against players who make his team lose. He yells, swears and shoots his mouth off at utha playas who make his team lose. Gangster's disrespectful at first, but he's funny.

  • I could neva beat dis game so quickly man! Phediuk you da best MAYNE!!!

  • now that's skill!

  • @gixer750ws sort of...

  • how the hell do you jump on a cactus?

  • @simonlee000 And people on YouTube still don't understand what a TAS run is.

    The End.

  • Damn bot assisted shit.

  • You are god.

  • this is so fake

  • god mode much

  • My favorite part is when you jump

  • how have you recorded this? Which softwares have you used?

  • how do you get tool assist?

  • i use to always choose him because he was the fastest and strongest when it came to picking stuff memories

  • @Broncos952 me too, good times

  • The TAS Cheated ROFL

  • @Prince995 You miserable fail at understanding the point of TAS run.

  • @ThatRandomGuy666 i know that its Tool assisted speedrun but yeah thats just not normal even for an TAS i know its like yeah has a precision of i dont know what but flying?

  • um...... at 2:49 did you se him speeding up that rope?

    it looks like cheating

  • Does toad double jump or something? he seems to randomly jump in midair...

  • it is tool assisted he says it himself plus its obvious

  • cool, now i know what the end looks like. i never had the chance to beat it when I was little b/c I didn't own the game (:

  • it says tool assisted at the beginning

  • Wow people are stupid for shure. 0:18 can you read? It says tool assisted. Stupid kids

  • (SARCASM) yeah, when i played this game i could fly and walk through enemies!

  • 1000000% FAKE

  • @YoshiFan20021999 are you an idiot? "This is a tool-assisted movie."

  • 100% FAKE

  • 06:06 anti-gravity?!

  • 5:20 makes me lol

  • Wow, that's a TAS if I've ever seen one. And I wouldn't have a problem with that if it only said so in the description.

  • @cruzman3608

The boxes that appear denoting it as a TAS (in the TASVideos format, nonetheless!) at the beginning of the video aren't enough for you?

  • fake!

  • Comment removed

  • I've never liked this Mario game..

  • i call the birdo in world 7-1 the ghost birdo because it reappears!

  • How did you double jump at 2:09?

  • I still play SMB 1 2 and 3 all day. I'm too old school to play Xbox anymore.

  • He says that it is tool-assisted damn stop saying it's fake -_-'

  • 2:03 hes cheating if you dont think he is. Your retarded

  • @hampus286

? I believe you are blind good sir. on 0:18, it says "tool assisted"

  • How the hell did you double jump?

  • notice the sound it makes when he finally throws an enemy? you pick them up to open secrets and such

  • Yeah I wana know why you always pick up enemies to. Answer please :P

  • oh the nostalgy!!! <3 i remember playing this with my sisters all night long in the 90s

  • Excellent. Very impressed.

  • The Moral of the game is, If you eat your vegitables, Then your gonna Die!>:D

  • very good and he is NOT cheating

  • It's funny, but you do a poor job of hiding the tools. At 3:43 you jump right on top of the Pokey, and you double jump the whole time :/. For this you get nothing, if you speedrun the REAL Super Mario Bros 2 then maybe...

  • lol at the Birdo-Ostro mixup at the end.

  • skills!

  • 1:23-1:25 ROFL

    priceless
