I have a 1990 amigo i was going to go v-8 but. I'm gonna go 4cyl catarpillar turbo diesel. I can get the pulling power and fuel milage off road. Arizonas a big place to have fun offroading besides the diesel motor will last longer than a gas motor under harsh conditions plus 55 miles to a gallon is not bad
My truck hasnt rattled apart. If you build it right the thing will run smooth. But when you build a truck to be beaten off road parts do brake other wise whats the point to an off road truck. The motors a 350 small block

that sounds great and all but i would worry that its too much power for the amigo. even just all the new rattling will prolly break all the little plastic pieces that hold the car together.

What did you do for motor mounts? I want to put a v8 in my Rodeo.
Is it 4wd? Did you need a custom oil pan?
