Every time I see this pedal I just laugh because it is so fucking horrible. You can almost tell how good a guitarist is just by seeing his set-up/if they have this pedal.
@aaaaaaaaaa2303 no, it's not good, try with another one, maybe de metal version or the mega distortion, i don't remember the real names, but search them, both are boss. You should check another Lines, like electro harmonix or whatever
@14ax2 If you are gigging then its obviously gonna be alot easier to switch to a drive channel, especially mid song. Also, using a pedal, you can look into loads of different pedals and get exactly what drive tone you are looking for
@AutoDidactic26 ibanez tubescreamer , and most boss pedals are better than most amps , when u do big gigs , marhsalls amps are normal the way to go , and there overdrive sucks , only smaller amps like line 6 spiders etc , have a really good distortion
@10078g Christ man please tell me you are fucking with me. Look up the mesa mark series, mesa road kings, engl amps, fortin amps, axe fx, hughes & kettner, framus, fryette/vht, ect. Beware that a lot of people suck at tweaking these amps. You have to find the right videos of people that dialed the amps properly.
@Comic8420 Honestly, anything but that amp haha. Coming from someone who used to own one. Fender has the Frontman series (average distortion but decent clean), Marshall has the FX series (nice effects and such), etc. Not too familiar with other brands but it all depends on what your trying to play man.
@jicksawkiller01 Distortion is sharper and more "distorted", while overdrive is kind of thicker and not quite so distorted. That probably didn't help :/
@jicksawkiller01 Both of them do the same thing, which is to clip (distort) the guitar's signal. Distortion pedals generally cause more severe clipping than overdrive pedals. A lot of it just marketing. For example, the MXR Distortion III is almost the exact same circuit as the MXR Wylde Overdrive.
With every good pedal demo I see people are playing blues licks with (distortion pedals) seriously.. where the fuck is the extreme metal Black,Death and even Thrash?
I don't even see the point to distortion pedals... if you want gain, buy an amp with good gain settings.. maybe buy an overdrive pedal later to boost and cut some of the EQ.. distortion pedals have the worst tones I have ever heard and are soo cheap.. pretty much goes hand in hand with the saying, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it."
ive had one of these for as long as i can remember, can be a bit fuzzy with tascam recorder machines, but through stacks with a good amount of bass (on amp) and mids (on pedal) sounds amazing x'']
@hotmccartney ha you don't know the half of it....i play an old montgomery ward amp.....oh yeah...20 bucks at a pawn shop...you dont get crappier than that....the combo of the blues driver and the distortion pedal makes it sound great!! Good Luck!!
hey guys.. just wondering.. is there any pedal that just increases the distortion in the amp that i already have... its a shitty practice amp, but i got tone that i really like, but it could use a little bit more distortion, is there any way i could do that without changing the tone?!
@flipedup Try using a distortion pedal like this DS-1, turn the Drive knob all the way down, level knob all the way up, and adjust the tone knob to your liking. Should give you extra distortion without changing the tone too much.
You look like Dr.Palmer from NCIS. And you said, ''I like this setting because it sounds heavy and thick, It sounds nice'' Nobody puts thick and heavy with nice in the same sentence.
@ledzepplinagian the fact that you master the guitar technique doesn't make you good, what you do with it, create out of it, that's what makes you good. But yes he knows how to play and his guitars are cool.
Its not a question of his skill, its a question of his choice of style for playing blues on a DISTORTION pedal, not a fuzz box, not an overdrive, not a blues overdrive, a DISTORTION, play grunge, metal, hard rock, etc.
I mean, if he REALLY wants to show off what the pedal can do in a decent amp with a decent guitar.
@TheDownAndOutKS guitarists can do what ever they want, Randy Rhoads played through marshall 100watt plexi tube amps, there is no clean channel, just overdrive, and he used a mxr distorion plus as a gain boost, and so did I , and he used the mxr 10 band eq , and so did i , it makes the sound more heavy in the end, there is no where that says i can use distorion pedals or fuzz boxes with an overdriven amp, thats what jimmy hendrix did, clean chanel with distorion sounds weak
quick question,,,,,i'm an owner of this pedal....but for some reason the volume level is pretty low to the point where i have to put the level to max just to match the clean sound....i'm wondering if i can do something about this or if it's normal
@milisav because not everyone plays blues some people would want to hear what it sounds like when their type of music is played using it. if they only know how it sounds with blues and say they play rock/metal how do they know if it is good with that genre therefore there is a chance they won't buy it, when they most probably would've if it was played in rock. js. :L
i probably sound like tard but i got blessed by a friend and he actualy GAVE me this pedal. so i was very happy, i'v been playing with it. i'm happy with everything but... i have my amp on a clean side, use the 2nd humbucker of my guitar. and the pedal is great when we get really loud and crazy...but the volume lowers....is that supposed to happen? i tried messing witht he setting on the pedal, amp, and guitar. idk wth
Kurt Cobain used one of these in the early years. i'd guess he would have pushed the drive up, and tone down on the pedal and on his Jaguar. thus the Bleach sound, Nirvana's best Album!. amp setting are bass 5, mid all the way up, treble 7, and a fair amount of reverb.
it sounds terrible because he isnt using it like he should all he does is play 3 chords and fuckin blues solos
