  • hey your a big n&w fan right you know how much i love the j class engines was there an n&w steam engines that looked like the j class but may have had a diffrent line of drive wheels? i seen a n&w video and this engine look alot like the n&w j class with a number 133 or 331 on the side in the same spot the j would say 611 it had the same colors and all if so i want to get a model engine of in o gauge

  • @grizzleybearz282004 The Norfolk & Western Railway built its first eight "Mountains" in its shops in Roanoke, VA during 1916. These locomotives (Class K-1, road numbers 100 through 107) had 29 x 28 cylinders, 70" drivers, a boiler pressure of 220 psi, exerted 69,920 lbs of traction effort and weighed 347,000 pounds. The following year another eight (road numbers 108 through 115) duplicates of the first Class K-1s, were built. All of these 4-8-2s entered passenger service.

  • @LionelKid18 thank you for the infoon the k1 engine i found what i was looking for there called the k2 class i beleive its a 4-6-2 they looks just like the 600 series j class engines now im trying to find out if one was or can be made in o gauge i wish i had know about them before:-]

  • THE N&W J CLASS #600 SERIES WAS ONE OF THE BEST ENGINES ON THE RAILS ALONG WITH ITS BIG BOTHER #1218

  • @grizzleybearz282004 I agree the N&W built the best steam locomotives in the south.

  • This just in!

    NS is bringing back STEAM!

  • @Trainfanz WE WISH

  • nice foto show

  • were did you get the photos in the cab of the 611 or the 1218 couldn't tell witch one and if they are your photos nice shots

  • Great video, i love Trains and the Stone's! Thanks.

  • The class J's were such beautiful locomotives. The rods had roller bearings where it connects to the wheels. Also, the moving parts were lubricated mechanically. I have two J's in my O guage collection. Normally I save my money to buy something different. That is how impressed I am with the N&W class J's!

  • Same here I own 3 J's in my O scale collection, The N&W had the best steam on any class 1 Railroad.

  • Whow! Nice video! You got some great shots! But why nothing from O.W. Link?

  • I would have put links work in, i was worried about stupid youtube copyright stuff

  • Oh, yeah, stupid copyright!

  • I know, I uploaded a video that had a band called by the Ramones in it, whe I get home from school the feakin' audio is dsiabled! Then, of course I read a copyright thingy saying "Copyright ... Warner Music Group" Shit, oh well. Nice Video!

  • Great photos.

  • thank you

  • I'll always be diehard for the Q and Baldwin, but Ronaoke truly was the Alamo for steam. Thier engines were spectular. Especially the A class Mallets and of course the Js.

  • thanks for the great video, really enjoyed the music and pics!

  • Cool, nice work dude! Like the picture of 611 at 1:26.

  • Yeah I like that one too, like ghosts or something looking at the 611

  • Great tribute, Heath!

I see you found photos of 607's wreck too. I wonder if 611's wreck was worse...

  • 611 wrecked??? wow.

  • Yeah, she wrecked back in the late 50's. She was completely restored after that, which led to her being the best shape out of all the J's in 1960. Her excellent condition, along with the efforts of O. Winston Link is what saved her while her sister were scrapped.

  • From a picture I just found, it was definately worse.

  • Would you mind sending me the picture? I've only read about 611's wreck, never have seen anything on it.

  • I would need to email it to you...it's on my computer haha....I found it in the depths of my hard drive.

  • Thanks Victoria!!

  • Awesome. Im a HUGE N&W fan, and this is a great tribute. My favorite photo was the one of 611 next to the Asheville

station sign (anybody notice the Pizza Hut in the background), or those of the engine crews in the cabs. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks, Yeah I had to throw the one of 611 in Asheville since that is my hometown

  • Cool!!

  • Nice video, 5 stras, the one picture i want to see was not in there, lol, the picture of the John Herney, o well, great job
