I was lucky enough to see John at the Blues Bouquet in Boise Idaho in 1995. A friend secretly recorded that concert with one of the original DAT recorders, secretly hidden, one mic behind each ear. It's a spritual experience for me. I miss John deeply.
John's passing has hit me harder than almost any other of my favourite musicians. What a great man! Fortunate to see him in a number of occasions, including an explosive gig at the Half Moon in Putney (London) with Pete Thomas from the Attractions on drums - even John was surprised at how powerful it was! Bless him.
Your voice and story telling will echo thru my mind forever !! You were one special performer. Saw you in Chicago many moons ago will be in my heart forever . Thank You John Stewart !!!!!!!!!
We cannot ask him for anymore encores. It would not be right. He plays for the angels now. 600 songs he wrote for us. 45 albums. God, it is like a hole in my side. I know he would want us all to just part on for him. I tried today. I did, John. I did. Why am I crying now?
I saw john and buffy in late august in san francisco. Got to talk to them both briefly. He is getting older as we all are and it's a little sad but I still love his singing and wonderful songs. i've been a loyal fan for over 40 years. Keep on singing John!
John! Where art thou now dear friend? I have a photo of Luke as an infant in my arms on Bluewater, was it? After Phillip & I moved into the Fernhill house. What times in Malibu! Hollywood Dream Babies (forgive if I have the title wrong) was newly out. Malibu will never be the same. How is Buffy? Had I known you were in Dalry, of all places in Edinburgh, I would have been there with bells on. I lived right up the road!! Love to you!
Oh my, thank you so much for posting this. Had the opportunity to share a beer with him and Buffy in MD way back when. Such a decent, dedicated man and lovely wife. Please post more, we need more of this!
John Stewart has been the quiet heart of the folk world. I've been following him since the "Close-up" Kingston Trio album in 1961. There's never been a voice or a composing mind like his. God bless you John, come back to Milwaukee
I wrote this in the Spring '07 never imagining that we would ever lose him. The man wrote the soundtrack of my life and now he's gone. Buy the albums that you missed and keep him in your heart.

I am so happy I got to meet John in the 80's before he passed on. He is a beautiful soul, and California has no Gold anymore....not without THIS man.
Be well John, You are Golden!

and I'd just as soon
pull over
to the side of the road
and show you what I mean."

An underappreciated, brilliant songwriter genius. The one that took the road less traveled and showed a lot of us the way. Thank you.
