Jeepers!! I believe I flew in the same chopper from that strip in 1994..the pilot was Russian and had flown in Afganistan..he talked about being shot at with US stinger missiles...
I had to hire an airplane from Tara Air (Yeti Airline) to pick me up. I was snowed in and the fixed wing aircraft could not operate in those conditions at the strip. The pilot of the helo offered to flight me out for $150 USD. I thought it strange they would not provide a receipt. It was money under the table that he could pocket without the government knowing they were transporting passengers.
@grntara78 Last time I checked it was Solukhumu District (aka solu or khumbu meaning the same places) One of the75 districts of Nepal. Salleri being the headquater of the district, inside Sagarmatha Zone.
@exceptional1414 solu or khumbu is not the same place Mr. Don´t try to teach a khumbu sherpa the difference between solu and khumbu. But I guess u won´t know what Sherpa means.
@grntara78 For your peace of mind I checked your holy Wikipedia. 1st article on topic "khumbu" states your point but it is a article without any source and could be posted by anyone and can be refuted so there is no point. And, the article "solukhumbu"; again when you go back to the source page it does not state anything about what you state.. still not point made. Please come up with some reliable source will ya?
@exceptional1414 ok... u want to know the difference between solu and khumbu . Solu is the area which is below Lukla. There for....u can´t say typical Solu weather... coz this scene is in Syangboche. Conclusion.... one can make a mountain out of a molehill..... just like me :-) Hope u enjoyed our discussion... I did.
@grntara78 well, Thank you sir. Pleasure is all mine. was just discussing too. wanted to see how far you can go. FYI my mother was born and raised in salleri. Well, nice talking to you ..
That's not an airport that's a bunch of shitty dirt Plato(very small though).
