I own a 2001 Dodge Viper RT-10. They only made 1,978 Vipers in 2001, 878 of which were the RT-10. In 2001, Chevy made 35,627 Corvettes! That is more in one year than in the 18 years the Viper was sold (only a little over 24,000 vipers were ever made). When you can get a used viper for 30k, why would you go vette?
@CTSV4MEE You made a valid statement,but only to a point.If you look at the history of the Corvette,throughout its 56 years there have been many rare examples built that are sought after by true collectors.......the original 5,possibly 6 Grand Sports,the '57 fuelies,'63 Split Window,plus genuine monsters like the very few L-88 cars built.That kind of heritage and collectibility is something the Viper will never match,as good a car as it is.And the Viper's future is in doubt....

Of course the Viper doesn't have the same heritage as the Corvette seeing as Corvette is 38 years older than the Viper. However; to say that it will never be collectible is very naive. Also, the future of the Viper is very bright with what is coming down the pipeline in 2012

Mine will buck and jerk you like crazy; however, it is not a daily driver so I love it for how crazy it is. From what I know about the new version, it will be completely redone and will include traction and stability control to make it more driver friendly. It will also start out as a Coupe and not a convertible. I look forward to it. The new ZR1 needs some stiff competition in America!

I personally believe it is inappropriate for viper fans to talk trash because of the ACR. It is pathetic that the ZR1, that does have creature comforts and lacks that wing and aero kit, is staying pretty close with an ACR on a track. I am perfectly okay with admitting it is slower because everyone on here knows it wouldn't be if they made the changes to it that have been made with the ACR.
@ CorvetteRacingFan - your argument is redundant because as much you can say the ZR1 could have changes to beat the ACR (with say a wing) - the same can be said about the ACR adding a supercharger (like the ZR1). Oh Oh, - yeah thats right - then the ACR wins again. Think outside of your box.
I mentioned those changes because they make their stats more similar and let you see who did a better job designing their car and not just who resorted to building a race car, adding extra gear and removing comfort and options. Anybody can do that.
Fact: The ZR1 designers had to work for its good handling while the ACR Viper team took the easy way out with a wing.
Fact: They make a C6RS with an 8.2L NA engine outputting the same 600 HP as the Viper. It can keep up perfectly fine.
Here is the difference - I have said it many times. The ACR was built for the track - a weekend racer - which it dominates. The ZR1 was built for the street with all the creature comforts that you can still take to the track and kick ass (except the ACR). I am not a vette hater. I have owned a vette and am astonished and proud for the ZR1. I defend the ZR1 against European blowhards all the time.
Yeah I get a little hard on the Viper sometimes but it sure is a kickass car and it deserves a lot of props. I worshipped the RT-10's of the early 90's and the GTS Vipers were pretty cool too. The third generation sort of lost its way but the 2008 and newer have been just awesome. I happen to prefer Corvette but damn are Vipers cool. I have to admit they turn more heads too :P

I own a GM car and i love it. But i cant for the life of me, understand why people still think a Corvette is and has always been better than the Viper. I will agree that this generation Z06 is faster and better than that gen Viper. But back in the 90's and the CURRENT Viper are/were better than comparable corvettes. In Looks, performance, and the corvette is much too common. I see at least 5 or 6 vetts A DAY while ill see a viper maybe once a month. And everytime my jaw drops in awe.
Current Viper is on par with a ZR-1, and in the 90's, there wasnt a model of Vette to even compare to a Viper. To most people a vettes a vette, I see some around here and there, but I can pick a ZO6 out and everytime I see one, my jaw drops, just such a sexy car, and you don't see them all around.

The ACR Viper was developed to be a true factory race car, no active handling, no ABS, no A/C ready to be raced. The ZR1 maybe not as fast of a track car, but can be driven daily. It has all the modern day driver creature comforts of the best super cars, plus a 100,000 warranty . I personally believe the Z06 is the better buy for the money.
Vettes have a history reaching all the way to 1954, unlike the viper. The corvette out-dates most, if not all, muscle cars.
It has more class and style than the viper ever will.
Not to mention, when it comes to price for performance, an extra 10,000 onto the vette would make it equal price to the viper, but would smoke it outright

The Z06 is one of the quickest street cars ever built, it has a nicer interior and is a much nicer daily driver. Viper buyers make a commitment, they know what they're getting into. The car is loud, fast and outright scary. It has laser sharp steering, can pull over 1g in a corner and overshadows the Z06 in every performance aspect. The Viper is just downright badass. If you want a daily driver, buy the Vette, if you want an insane thrill ride, buy a Viper.
Why argue about 10g? Not like you save 10g when you buy a Vette. Since if you sell the Vette a few years later you will only get 1/3 of what you paid for it. While Vipers dont fall that much in price. Anyway like what ever car you want. I like both Vipers and Vettes. They both got different charm about them.

Just ran My stock C6 Z06 Vs. a sweet looking '08 Viper (assuming stock). Beat him on 3 pulls from 60-140 (I was in 3rd gear) by at least 3-5 cars each time. We ran dead even for 3-5 seconds and then my Z06 pulled away (1700 miles on the OD).
Stop, it can't eat any C6 Z06. Look at the times before you open you're fucking mouth. They both run similar 1/4 mile times. And all of my times at the track (English Town NJ) are between 11.2-11.5. All better times than I've seen on the car mags for 2008+ Vipers. I've seen many C6 Z06 (bone stock) at the track running 11.1-11.5 all day long. 100HP more does not mean shit. The Viper weights 3425lbs. My curb weight is 3130 (295 less). Before you comment, do your research stupid.

also the zr1's of the 90's didn't have superchargers they where classis (overbored 350v8's)And Vipers are quite heavy cars nearly the same weight as a 1967 jaguar.The only slow corvettes I can think off are the ones from the early 50's and the ones inbetween 1974 and 1987)aside from those most of the earlier models could attain high speeds but only in straight lines.The newer ones can attain much higher speeds faster and can do it without comprimising ride quality which was a problem with vipers

Well, not according to Motor Trend's head to head test between the two. And the drivers in that test werent some rich little punks who couldnt drive. Granted, they are pretty closely matched, and each does a few things better than the other. But, as far as overall, the Z06 won out, and was faster.

I personally believe it is inappropriate for viper fans to talk trash because of the ACR. It is pathetic that the ZR1, that does have creature comforts and lacks that wing and aero kit, is staying pretty close with an ACR on a track. I am perfectly okay with admitting it is slower because everyone on here knows it wouldn't be if they made the changes to it that have been made with the ACR.

I mentioned those changes because they make their stats more similar and let you see who did a better job designing their car and not just who resorted to building a race car, adding extra gear and removing comfort and options. Anybody can do that.
Fact: The ZR1 designers had to work for its good handling while the ACR Viper team took the easy way out with a wing.
Fact: They make a C6RS with an 8.2L NA engine outputting the same 600 HP as the Viper. It can keep up perfectly fine.

Here is the difference - I have said it many times. The ACR was built for the track - a weekend racer - which it dominates. The ZR1 was built for the street with all the creature comforts that you can still take to the track and kick ass (except the ACR). I am not a vette hater. I have owned a vette and am astonished and proud for the ZR1. I defend the ZR1 against European blowhards all the time.

Yeah I get a little hard on the Viper sometimes but it sure is a kickass car and it deserves a lot of props. I worshipped the RT-10's of the early 90's and the GTS Vipers were pretty cool too. The third generation sort of lost its way but the 2008 and newer have been just awesome. I happen to prefer Corvette but damn are Vipers cool. I have to admit they turn more heads too :P

I own a GM car and i love it. But i cant for the life of me, understand why people still think a Corvette is and has always been better than the Viper. I will agree that this generation Z06 is faster and better than that gen Viper. But back in the 90's and the CURRENT Viper are/were better than comparable corvettes. In Looks, performance, and the corvette is much too common. I see at least 5 or 6 vetts A DAY while ill see a viper maybe once a month. And everytime my jaw drops in awe.

Current Viper is on par with a ZR-1, and in the 90's, there wasnt a model of Vette to even compare to a Viper. To most people a vettes a vette, I see some around here and there, but I can pick a ZO6 out and everytime I see one, my jaw drops, just such a sexy car, and you don't see them all around.

The ZR-1 was good in the early 90's, but it never got revised and as Vipers picked up more power in the late 90's, the ZR-1 just wasn't enough.

How are you paying more for less? You're paying more for more. Ever since the Viper was introduced it's always been faster than the vette. Even the famed ZR1 can't beat the viper ACR around the track. A car having history doesn't give it prestige. That's like saying my ford f250 has presige. Owning one of the few hand built vipers of that particular year is prestige. When people see a Corvette they think hmmm nice car, but they are definitely not a neck breaker. The ACR Viper was developed to be a true factory race car, no active handling, no ABS, no A/C ready to be raced. The ZR1 maybe not as fast of a track car, but can be driven daily. It has all the modern day driver creature comforts of the best super cars, plus a 100,000 warranty . I personally believe the Z06 is the better buy for the money.

Vettes have a history reaching all the way to 1954, unlike the viper. The corvette out-dates most, if not all, muscle cars.
It has more class and style than the viper ever will.
Not to mention, when it comes to price for performance, an extra 10,000 onto the vette would make it equal price to the viper, but would smoke it outright

The Z06 is one of the quickest street cars ever built, it has a nicer interior and is a much nicer daily driver. Viper buyers make a commitment, they know what they're getting into. The car is loud, fast and outright scary. It has laser sharp steering, can pull over 1g in a corner and overshadows the Z06 in every performance aspect. The Viper is just downright badass. If you want a daily driver, buy the Vette, if you want an insane thrill ride, buy a Viper.
For these buyers 10g means nothing.

Why argue about 10g? Not like you save 10g when you buy a Vette. Since if you sell the Vette a few years later you will only get 1/3 of what you paid for it. While Vipers dont fall that much in price. Anyway like what ever car you want. I like both Vipers and Vettes. They both got different charm about them.

@jonnieos im not trying to get into a pissing match its just my opinion on what i have seen and read. every car has pros and cons i just like the vette for the money, any model you get if you compare other cars in its said class the only ones beating them are 2-5 times the price, and then there only a select few, and there not beating them by much. And the vette can be used as a daily driver too, thats hard to say for alot of the cars its competing with, Its just a really nice all around car

Just ran My stock C6 Z06 Vs. a sweet looking '08 Viper (assuming stock). Beat him on 3 pulls from 60-140 (I was in 3rd gear) by at least 3-5 cars each time. We ran dead even for 3-5 seconds and then my Z06 pulled away (1700 miles on the OD).

Stop, it can't eat any C6 Z06. Look at the times before you open you're fucking mouth. They both run similar 1/4 mile times. And all of my times at the track (English Town NJ) are between 11.2-11.5. All better times than I've seen on the car mags for 2008+ Vipers. I've seen many C6 Z06 (bone stock) at the track running 11.1-11.5 all day long. 100HP more does not mean shit. The Viper weights 3425lbs. My curb weight is 3130 (295 less). Before you comment, do your research stupid.

The viper is a fast car don't get me wrong and I'm not sure what an ACR is but I'm guessing its some sort of racing package.
The early Zr1's (From the 90's) beat the GTR and RT/10's all the time (In straight lines)

also the zr1's of the 90's didn't have superchargers they where classis (overbored 350v8's)And Vipers are quite heavy cars nearly the same weight as a 1967 jaguar.The only slow corvettes I can think off are the ones from the early 50's and the ones inbetween 1974 and 1987)aside from those most of the earlier models could attain high speeds but only in straight lines.The newer ones can attain much higher speeds faster and can do it without comprimising ride quality which was a problem with vipers

Well, not according to Motor Trend's head to head test between the two. And the drivers in that test werent some rich little punks who couldnt drive. Granted, they are pretty closely matched, and each does a few things better than the other. But, as far as overall, the Z06 won out, and was faster.

maybe but not the venom 650R,before you argue about the venom being aftermarket no one cares because supercharged and turbo are still just that,even from the factory.

I have a 03 Viper and a 08 ZO6 and the ZO6 is a lot faster on the freeway.But I still love the Viper and want a 09 someday...
